Your mother died when you were little. I'm sorry, but this is how the story starts. She was the only one in your family to ever show you kindness. Your father remarried an evil old hag of a lady that works you like a slave. If not for your friends at school keeping you sane, you might have taken drastic measures. You're a good kid, kept your grades up, did the chores around the house, and never hung out with the wrong crowd. You're the opposite of your step-sisters. You've always wondered why they always have to be so mean to you. "It's just like the stupid movies." you mutter under your breath.
After a hard day at school, you get ready to rush home from school to do the housework. Your friend knows about your strict father and step-mother and wishes you luck. You're running a bit late. You decide to:
[[Ask them if you could borrow their bike]]
[["It's okay, I'll run home instead. I don't know how to ride a bike"]]"Only if you could drop me off at my house first," he smiles. "You gotta remember to lock it up though."
[[Agree]]
[["It's okay, I'll run home instead. I don't know how to ride a bike"]]You drop off your friend at his home and he waves goodbye. "See ya tomorrow! Good luck with the stupid chores." he yells. You book it back home on the bike and arrive with only mildly aching calves. No one seems to be back yet.
[[Grab something from the fridge]]
[[Step outside to feed the birds]]
"You don't know how to ride a bike? You're in high school!" he stares. "You're lying aren't you? Whatever man, see you tomorrow." You wave and sprint back home.
You arrive home but you're extremely sweaty from that run and your calves are killing you. No one seems to be back yet.
[[Grab something from the fridge]]
[[Massage your aching muscles]]You've loved birds since you were little and somehow gained the ability to understand them along the way. They tell you about a party that is happening tonight. You ask them if you should go. "Why would we be telling you otherwise?" the birds chirp. What now?
[[Try to convince your stepmother to let you go]]
[[Sneak out of the house to the party]]The fridge is filled to the brim with food. You decide to
[[Read the poster on the front of the fridge]]
[[Grab the Apple]]You call your step-mother on your phone. She reprimands you for calling her while she is working. You explain that there is a party tonight and you want to go. She laughs, "Not until you finish all the chores in the house! Even then I'd have to consider it."
[[Agree to clean the house]]
[[Sneak out of the house to the party]]You clean the house until the sun sets. Things like this should happen in the dark don't you think? Unfortunately, by waiting until dark, your step-mother and your step-sisters arrived home. They're trying on some new dresses. You throw on the nicest clothes you have and slowly make your way to the front door. You hear some noises from upstairs. Crap! Your sisters are coming this way!
[[Hide!]]
[[Try to talk your way past them]]A party! There's a party happening tonight. You don't recognize the guy's name but there are free drinks and some famous DJ is coming too. Sounds like fun.
[[Try to convince your stepmother to let you go]]
[[Sneak out of the house to the party]]The apple is very shiny. You remember a story of a girl who ate a shiny apple that her stepmother poisoned with cyanide. She's now in a vegetative state and for some reason people with dwarfism visit her every day. How peculiar...
[[Take a bite of the apple]]
[[Read the poster on the front of the fridge]]You probably should've borrowed that bike from your friend. You're extremely unfit. You make a promise to yourself to go running every evening after you do your chores
[[Grab something from the fridge]]
[[Lay down for a light snooze]]Birds are chirping, the sun is shining in your face. Oh god, did you sleep the entire night? You fall out of your bed and check the clock. It's 8am! You're going to be late for school. Hurry!
[[Run to class]]
[[Roll over, it's probably okay to miss a day of school]]
As you walk into school, you hear people murmuring and whispering. You wonder what happened last night. You see your friend and run over to him.
He explains that there was a party at a rich guy's house last night. Apparently, he asked one of your step-sisters out. You shudder. How did this happen? This story was supposed to be about you.
[[Try again?]]Your father comes in and yells at you for still being in bed and not doing the chores. Fuck! You bolt out of bed and start sweeping the house. Your friend calls you.
[[Pick up]]
[[Ignore him]]He tells you about the party that happened last night. He explains that there was a party at a rich guy's house last night. Apparently, he asked one of your step-sisters out. You shudder. How did this happen? This story was supposed to be about you.
[[Try again?]]
You're not that kind of person. You pick up your phone. He tells you about the party that happened last night. He explains that there was a party at a rich guy's house last night. Apparently, he asked one of your step-sisters out. You shudder. How did this happen? This story was supposed to be about you.
[[Try again?]]This apple is spiked with something. You sniff it. Is... that... vodka? You slump to the ground. "Nothing in this house is safe," you think. You're going to be soooo grounded. It's probably one of your step-sister's things that they've been saving. You black out.
[[Continue]]Your head throbs as you get dressed the next morning. Oh dear god.
[[Try again?]]Your step-mother told you to clean the house but she didn't say how well. What kind of effort will you put into cleaning the house?
[[Your best work (although you will arrive to the party late)]]
[[Quickly! (bad job but you'll arrive to the party on time)]]You decide to hide in the bathroom. One of them knocks on the door. "Cind? You in there? You taking a dump or something?" they yell.
[["Uh yeah! It's going to be a while!"]]
[[Don't answer]]"Where are you going dressed so nicely?" they ask. "Oh, to a friend's house, could you guys give me a ride?" you say and regret it immediately. For the whole ride, they grill you about who your friend is, what their parents do, how long you've known them, and if you like them. You thought it was never going to end. On the bright side, they did give you a ride. It's only a short walk to the party.
[[Go to the party]]You clean the house meticulously but by the time you're done, you're sweaty as hell. You should probably show but it's getting late, maybe even too late to go to the party. You ask your step-mother if you can go. She agrees to let you go, but do you?
[[Go to the party]]
[[Go to bed]]Your step-mother sees that you just rushed the job and didn't do it well. She doesn't allow you to go to the party.
[[Sneak out of the house to the party]]
[[Go to bed]]You knock on the door of the house. You hear the music blaring inside. You wonder if you're underdressed, but shrug because it's the best that you have given the circumstances. A handsome guy answers the door. He smiles at you. "Welcome!" He leads you inside. Was he... checking you out? What now?
[[Dance floor is where it's at]]
[[Chug chug chug!]]As you walk into school the next morning, you hear people murmuring and whispering. You wonder what happened last night. You see your friend and run over to him.
He explains that there was a party at a rich guy's house last night. Apparently, he asked one of your step-sisters out. You shudder. How did this happen? This story was supposed to be about you.
[[Try again?]]You have a great time on the dance floor. Near the end of the night, the DJ makes an announcement. "I know I didn't put any slow songs on so this is for all the couples out there." The handsome guy that let you in walks up to you. "Want to dance?" he smiles.
[[Accept his invitation to dance]]
[[Decline. You hate dancing]]There's actually a bar! In the house! You walk up to the bartender and he asks what you'd like. "Yes." you say. He looks confused. "I'd like everything please." "Stupid high school students." he mutters as he pours you a drink. And another. And another. And another. And another. And another.
[[You black out.]]"Whatever. Classic Cind." they mutter. Phew! Finally, no more obstacles!
[[Go to the party]]"Cind! I know you're in there!" they yell. The door knob rattles and it opens. "What are you doing dressed so nicely?" one of them asks.
[[Try to talk your way past them]]
[[Confess]]"Oh, I was going to sneak out to go to the party tonight." you murmur. They laugh. "Not anymore you're not. MOM! Cind was going to sneak out!" one of them yells. Your step-mother is livid. "You're grounded for a month young lady."
[[Accept your fate]]As you walk into school the next morning, you hear people murmuring and whispering. You wonder what happened last night. You see your friend and run over to him.
Apparently, the rich guy that was at the party asked one of your step-sisters out. You shudder. How did this happen? This story was supposed to be about you.
[[Try again?]]You two have a great time, he really knows how to dance! You two instantly make a connection and sit around after the party talking. You sneak a look at the clock. Oh shit. It's midnight already? My curfew is 11pm! You shove your phone at him. "I had so much fun, but I really have to go. My parents are going to kill me if I don't get back now! Can I get your contact information?" you start to sweat. He gives his phone to you and you two trade numbers. You book it home and fortunately your parents and your step-sisters had gone to bed a while ago. You sit on your bed to reach into your pocket and pull out... not your phone. "Crap! I forgot to give his phone back!" you whisper.
[[Call your number to see if he still has your phone]]He looks disappointed. "It's alright. I can ask someone else." he turns away.
[["Wait!" Accept his invitation to dance]]
[[Get a drink instead]]Your head throbs as you get dressed the next morning. Oh dear god. As you walk into school, you hear people murmuring and whispering. You wonder what happened last night. You see your friend and run over to him.
Apparently, the rich guy that was at the party asked one of your step-sisters out. You shudder. How did this happen? This story was supposed to be about you.
[[Try again?]]He picks up after two rings. "Cind, that you? I still have your phone dummy. I'll give it to you at school tomorrow." You let go a sigh of relief. "See you then!" You hang up. Is this real life?
[[Charge the phone and go to bed]]You two have a great time, he really knows how to dance! You two instantly make a connection and sit around after the party talking. You sneak a look at the clock. [[You black out.]]As you walk into school the next morning, you hear people murmuring and whispering. You wonder what everyone is talking about. You see your friend and run over to him.
He shrugs and tells you to turn around. There he is. He walks up to you. "You forgot this last night Cind..." he hands you your phone.
One of your step-sisters walk up to him out of nowhere and demands that the phone he gave you was hers and that she was the one he was dancing with last night. This is technically true of course, because the phone was a hand me down, but the guy just looks bored. "I know you're lying. Sorry but I want to talk to Cind right here." he turns to you.
"Go out with me Cind?"
[[Nod]]
[[Decline]]
He smiles. You two start dating. He's the best thing that's happened to you since the party. You date through high school and college and live a luxurious life away from your horrible parents and step-sisters.
Congratulations!Your step-sister steps in front of you, "I will!" The guy looks at you disappointed and leaves quickly. You continue with your life and sometimes wonder what would've happened if you did agree to go out with him.
