Eggman Begins

Welcome to my twine game! This is an ironic comedy mainly inpired by superhero fictions like Spiderman and Batman. The character is somewhat inpired by Don Quixote. I have some concerns about this project for it's a mostly original story rather than an adaption of a fairy tale or an urban legend, but I tried my best to make it fun. You are an ordinary guy in a small city, you have a boring job and live in a small apartment with unpaid rents roaring at you. Although you already turned 30, superhero toys are still your favorite and you are dreaming of being a superhero like Spiderman every day. One day you decided to go to the countryside and have a really nice chat with mother nature. That’s where you got bitten by a hen. That’s the beginning of your [[adventure]].

You are still angry with the disrespectful hen that bit you by the next morning, but then you suddenly realized that something changed inside your body. You can run faster, jump higher, and even cluck like a real chicken! Most importantly, you can actually lay eggs! You are so excited about it, , you know that you are the chosen one and you got to do something---be a superhero!!! You bought a mask from the toy store and some tights, you look like a real superhero right now! Now what you are going to do is to give yourself a proper name, a name that could scare away the enemies just by hearing it! Which one would you like to choose? [[Eggman]] [[Can’t figure out better names, please just bear with Eggman!->Eggman]]

Good name! Now create your legend as the Eggman! So where are you planning to find some bad guys and show your super power? [[Probably just walk on some streets]] [[I’ll go to some schools to have a look]]

You have spent your whole day on the street, looking for bad guys, but unfortunately nobody is breaking the law today. You are disappointed, “badass, please show up!”, you keep telling yourself. Then, rather than the bad guy, a police officer shows up, “seems like you just had a good day sir, but I have to warn you that it is not allowed to wear masks on streets, so you’ll have to take it off and give it to me.” It is your first day as a superhero, how could you reveal your identity so quickly? What are you going to do? [[“No, because I’m Eggman!”]] [[“Of course, officer.”]]

Your instinct was right! There is a bulky man with a mask bullying a kid just outside a school! You jump up and stand in front of them, “Release the kid!”, you yelled in your scariest voice, “This is your first and final warning!”. But the bully is not afraid at all, he walks towards you and you discovered that he has the exact same mask with you! “Wait…” says the bully, “did you also bought your mask in that toy store?” [[“It’s none of your business, now I’m going to make you suffer!”]] [[“Yesss!! And that toy store is sooo cool!”]]

“No! Because I’m Eggman, the superhero, this city needs me!”, you said to the officer. “I don’t care what ‘man’ you are, I only care that you’re drunk and this city needs me to take of your goddamn mask!” The officer is ready to pull out his gun. Seems like the officer doesn’t believe you are a superhero, what do you do? [[Run away->Run away 2]] [[Lay some eggs to prove yourself]]

You took off the mask and hand it in. “Thanks for your cooperation”, says the officer and he walks back towards his car. Suddenly, two thugs show up and they are attacking the police! You have super powers, use them and stop the thugs! [[Shoot some eggs toward the thugs]] [[Run away]]

You ignored his question and decided to show him your mighty power, what special ability do you want to activate? [[Shoot some eggs->Shoot eggs]] [[Make some cluck sounds]]

You can’t believe he bought the same mask with you in the same toy store. You forget every thing about saving the boy and had a nice conversation with the bully about the toy store, and even which hero is your favorite. By the time the he realized that the kid has already gone, he got mad and punched you hard. “You smart ass! Wanna distract me huh?” You did not trying to distract him, you just want to make friends with him, after all no one about your age likes toys anymore. You can’t believe a friend could become a foe so quickly, so you decided to teach him an important lesson about friendship, you do this by: [[Shoot some eggs]] [[Make cluck sounds]]

You shot some eggs to the thugs, the eggs penetrate the air like machine gun bullets, they splashed on those thugs and knocke them out immediately! You helped the officer to arrest the thugs covered with egg whites. “Thank you so much! What is your name?” asks the officer. [[I’m Eggman]] [[Say nothing and run away]]

You choose to escape the fight because you are afraid that your eggman identity will be exposed. As soon as you get home, the television is broadcasting a breaking news. “ Earlier this afternoon, a police officer was attacked by a group of gangsters and eventually result in fatality, the suspects are still on the run.” You are shocked by what happened, and blamed yourself for escaping. If you chose to fight, you could have saved him, but you didn’t. You decided to give up being Eggman, because you know inside that you don’t deserve to be a superhero, you are just a cowardly guy who can lay some eggs after all. Your name is Eggman, this is your story. [[Restart->start]]

You decide to prove that you are a superhero by laying some eggs on the ground. However, the eggs are so fast and powerful that it splashed all over the officer’s body. The officer got really pissed and he arrested you. You are busted, it is the end of your Eggman career! Breaking the law is not what a superhero would do! Your name is Eggman, this is your story. [[Restart->Eggman]]

“I’m Eggman!” You introduced your mighty name to the officer and run away. This is in fact not a wise choice for your identity, for you are not wearing a mask. But anyway, you saved a poor officer and the world knows Eggman from now on! During that night, your dreamt about a mysterious man inviting you to join the avengers, and ironman is your tutor, you fight along with some of the mightiest heroes and saved the earth once and once again!! “Bleeeeeep…” the sound of the doorbell takes you back to the reality. You opened the door and a mysterious man walks in. “I’m looking for someone with extraordinary abilities,” he continues, ”the Eggman video spreads all over YouTube and Instagram within a single night, and I’m 100% sure that you are the Eggman!”. He is the guy that you dreamt about! You are going to be an avenger!!! “I established a secret program, which aims to gather some remarkable people and achieve something great, together. If you decide to join us, I will tell you more details about it.” [[“Definitely! Am I going to be an avenger?"]] [[“I don’t think I’m ready for it…”]]

You left without saying anything, that’s a proper superhero plot! You get back home as fast as you can, feeling like a batman, but also afraid of being compromised for you are not wearing your mask. You spent your night with excitement and uncertainty. “Bleeeeeep…” the sound of the doorbell takes you back to the reality. You opened the door and a mysterious man walks in. “I’m looking for someone with extraordinary abilities,” he continues, “a video about a man shooting eggs and fighting with the gangsters spreads all over YouTube and Instagram within a single night, people call this guy ‘Eggman’, and I’m 100% sure, that you are the Eggman”. As expected, you are already compromised. “I established a secret program, which aims to gather some remarkable people and achieve something great, together. If you decide to join us, I will tell you more details about it.” [[“Definitely! Am I going to be an avenger?"]] [[“I don’t think I’m ready for it…”]]

“Not quite like the avengers, but I’m sure that it would be a lot more exciting than that. Now, if you’re ready, come with me.” [[Go with him]] [[“I don’t want to do it anymore.”]]

“I don’t really think I’m ready for it…I mean I need some more time to strengthen my skills…and…” “You don’t get to say no!” the mysterious man suddenly gone crazy, “Do you think I’m going to make you a hero? Wake up kiddo, there’s no superhero in an adult’s world! I just wanna make you to be a clown in an entertainment show! You are nothing but a poor freak with some nasty skills to amuse the crowd! I do this because I wanted to help you to get rid of this shitty apartment and your unpaid bills, to make us rich! And you refused it!!! Alright, you don’t deserve it anyway, we’re done here.” He slams the door and left. He is not an agent from the Shield, he is just a TV producer who wants you to be a clown in front of the audience, he even said that you are a freak. You feel so bad after hearing this, thinking that if you also got bitten by a spider rather than a hen, would you also be considered as a freak? But this is the reality, nobody needs a monster to protect the world. You decide to give up being the Eggman, for you don’t want to be a freak anymore. But think it over, it’s not that bad though, at least now you got free eggs to eat! [[Restart->start]]

You got into his luxury car and it stopped at a film studio. “This is our project, it’s basically a comedy reality show called ‘Eggottalent’, I’ve gathered some professional egg chefs and egg gastronomes, now all I need is you, Eggman, to be the egg producer. Your mission is to shoot as many eggs as you can to the chefs, and they have to catch them using the pan while making some fine egg cuisines as fast as they can, finally the gastronomes are going to taste them and give comments. It is so much fun isn’t it?” [[Yessss!]] [[Nah…]]

“Perfect! The audition starts soon, get ready, you are going to be a superstar hehehehehe!” Your audition went well and you started to record your first TV show. The viewership ratings of the first episode burst, it soon become the most popular TV show ever! You lay eggs and shoot them all over the place in front of the audience, and they just love it! You are a star from “Eggottalent” now, a millionaire, live in a big mansion. You enjoyed everything that you have achieved, with all the fame and fortune, who wants to be a superhero? [[Restart->start]]

“It doesn’t matter right now my friend, there is no turning back and trust me, you’re gonna love this.” Your audition went well and you started to record your first TV show. The viewership ratings of the first episode burst, it soon become the most popular TV show ever! You lay eggs and shoot them all over the place in front of the audience, and they just love it! You are a star from “Eggottalent” now, a millionaire, live in a big mansion. However, you are not so comfortable with all the fame and fortune, your dream is always to be like Spiderman, but now you are more like a clown. Is that what you are pursuing? [[Restart->start]]

You choose to shoot some eggs towards the bully, the eggs penetrate the air like machine gun bullets, and they immediately knocked him out. [[Yay!!!]]

“Cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck!” You sounded like a real chicken as you engage you sonic attack. However it doesn’t work at all except you really pissed him off. “You done chicken man?” says the bully, “my turn!” He punched you hard and burst into laughing when he left. [[Oooouch...]]

Looking at the guy lying on the ground unconsciously, covered with egg whites you just took the first step of being a superhero—defeating an enemy! When you are immersed in the fantasies of being the guardian of the city, the police siren suddenly roared behind you. “Put your hands up, you’re under arrest!” some police officers get off the car with the boy you just met. “That’s him! The man with the mask!” says the boy. “No! It’s not me! It’s the man on the ground!” you tried to explain but obviously nobody is going to believe you for you are wearing the exact same mask with the bully and, you attacked him. You are arrested dude! Superhero fantasies never works in front of the guns of the police. [[Restart->start]]

You got knocked out by the bully and it’s the police siren that wakes you up. “Put your hands up, you’re under arrest!” some police officers get off the car with the boy you just met, he ran away and called the police! “That’s him! The man with the mask!” says the boy. “No! It’s not me! The real bully attacked me and he’s gone!” you tried to explain but obviously nobody is going to believe you. You are framed by the bully and you’re now under custody! Your superhero career ends as the cell door closes. [[Restart->start]]

The bully really kicked your ass. You feel sad, your super power can’t even defeat a mortal, how can you fight against Thanos in the future? Well, at least you saved a boy. You turned to the boy, and he seems to be afraid. “Are you with him?” he asked. “Of course not, I just got punched when fighting that bad guy.” You answered. “But you have the exact same mask with him!” the boy still doesn’t believe in you. You defeated your first enemy! A big step forward of your superhero career! You looked at the boy, and he really freaked out. “You.. you are a monster!”, he said. “No I’m not! I’m a superhero!”, you replied. “A superhero never shoots eggs, you are a monster!!!”the boy cried out and ran away. You don’t understand, you defeated the bad guy saved the boy, he calls you a monster only because you shoot eggs? Well, there’s nothing you can do about it, just [[go home]]

“To tell you the truth, boy, I’m actually a superhero, I’m here to save you. I’ll show you what I can do.” You started to shoot egg bullets, they penetrated the air swiftly and splashed everywhere. The boy gets so frightened and yelled: “Ahhhhhhhh that’s gross! You are a monster!!!” then he runs away. You don’t understand, you saved the boy and took a few punches for him, he calls you a monster only because you laid some eggs? There’s nothing you can do about it, just [[go home]]

“Look, you can see my face right now, do I look like a bad guy?” you took off your mask and says. “Yeah…” replied the boy. Seems like it doesn’t prove anything, what to do next? [[Lay some eggs to prove that you are a superhero]] [[Call the police to send him home]]

You called the police, “Hello officer, there’s a kid got bullied just outside the school, could you please send him home?” After you hang up the phone, you ask the boy: “Will a bad guy call the police to send you home?” The boy shakes his head. Nice. After a few minutes, the police arrives and picks up the kid. The boy has a small request before he gets in the car: “Thank you sir, may I know your name please?” [[“You don’t need to, kid. I’m just a random guy”]] [[“I’m Eggman”]]

You get back home and notices the news broadcasting in the radio: “Earlier today, a boy from the school reported that he got bullied by a two men with masks, one of them can generate lethal eggs, the police department has started to search for the suspects with the listed traits…” You couldn’t believe the boy called the police, you are wanted! This is what you get in return for your heroism! You really hope that you also got bitten by a spider rather than a hen, at least the boy would not be frightened…But what can you do? You don’t want to be a freak anymore, that’s enough. This is the end of your Eggman career. [[Restart->start]]

“I’m nobody kid, just a random guy who is willing to give you a hand.” You decided not to claim your identity. “ Alright sir, but you are a true hero! By the way, I like your cluck sound, it’s so funny! Bye~~~” The boy waved good-bye to you and he even said that you are a hero. You barely remember whether you have received any compliment from others. Your family criticizes you as being immature, your boss criticizes you as being passive, your landlord criticizes you as being unreliable. But this little boy, knows you are a hero. In fact, you doesn’t have to be Eggman, you didn’t even use your super power to protect the kid. You can be a hero as long as you are brave enough. You decided not to be Eggman anymore, but you will still try your best to help this city, and be everyone’s “friendly neighbor”. [[Restart->start]]

“I’m Eggman!” You claimed your superhero identity. “Thank you Mr. Eggman, you are a hero! By the way, I like your cluck sound, it’s so funny! Bye~~~” The boy waved good-bye to you and he even said that you are a hero. You barely remember whether you have received any compliment from others.
