<<silently>><<set $readseneschal to true>><<endsilently>>"I was a servant of Good Queen Bess for many years," she says proudly, "working with the traders and merchants of her realm. I have received the supplications of those who sought the Queen's largesse to trade overseas, display their wares, or set up a shop. I know what the monarch would hear from her subjects, and how to sort the goats from the sheep. \n\nMore traditionally, a seneschal supports their lady's household: I employed artists, bards, and troubadors for my lady's entertainment; I ensured that her guards were properly fitted with uniforms, rooms and horses. I made sure the harvest was brought in in good time - no detail missed my notice.\n\nI wielded a mace against troublemakers and miscreants; I soothed the nerves of the aggrieved; I cried the news of Good Queen Bess and her officers of the Crown. \n\nIn short, I did all things on behalf of my lady, and her governance was efficient and prudential."\n\n[[Read in plain English|project]]\n\n[[Ask about being a bard|bard]]\n[[Ask about being a barber-surgeon|barber]]\n\n[[Continue|continue]]
You enter a bustling tavern, packed to the rafters with merrymakers enjoying a drink, a slap-up meal and a joke. Families nurse their toddlers on their knee, wrangling swaddling and foaming milk; elderly wizards contemplate the choice of red or white wine; orcish workies sink their fangs into well-earned burgers with egg yolk seeping out of the bread. \n\nHiding in a corner on a table for 1 and a half people is a dwarva, deep in thought and tugging at her straggly beard. She has a square face and heavy, furrowed eyebrows, and a notebook covered with large, scrawled handwriting sits open in front of her. What looks like a "Reserved" sign, on closer inspection, says "Will work for food/booze/GDC tix". \n\n[[Approach the dwarva|speak]]
The dwarva pulls a scroll from her jerkin and hands it to you.
