The Chase

You're name is Derek and you have a secret life that no one knows about. Apart from school and your job as a gymnastics teacher at the local gym; you live on the roof of the tallest building in town. Your home is a make shift roof made of tarps and portable heaters. [[go to school]] [[skip today]]

Might as well go to school. It's never a good idea to be at home during the day so the businessmen under you can't hear you moving around. The Ideal time to go home is 9 at night when it's dark and no one can see you. [[go to your locker]] [[go to class]]

Bad move, it's not smart to be on the roof during the day when the business men who work in the building below you can hear your heaters going they can also hear you moving around. You're caught and now you have to live on the street like a bum.

When you open your locker a note falls from the slits at the top. You open it and it jsut simply reads "Be Home" with an odd insignia on it. As you walk back to class you see a trash can. [[keep it with you]] [[throw it away]] <img src="https://svgsilh.com/svg/41585-9c27b0.svg" "500" "300">

When you get to your class you realize that you don't have your books. [[go to your locker]]

After a long day at school you head to your job where you teach young kids tumbling. you're done around 10 at night. [[go home]] [[walk around]]

You toss the note in the trash. [[go to class with books]]

When you get to class you sit down and reach into your desk for a pencil. feeling a small rectangle. A note. The same note that you threw away. with the same insignia on it. [[keep the note]]

You cave and pocket the note. Taking the test the teacher see's you looking at the note sticking out of your pocket. You get sent to the principals office and you have to do night school. you end up staying at the school until 11 at night. missing anything that could change your life forever.

You climb to the top of the building and see that someone is waiting at your make-shift home. [[call out to them]] [[climb back down quietly to avoid a confrontation]]

While your walking it gets late. You notice that there's someone following you. [[cut left quickly]] [[stay calm you're over thinking things]]

You were right they follow you immidiatly so you take off running. losing them and making it behind the building that you live on top off. [[scale the building to your home]]

Turns out you're not. They follow you for a whole hour. [[cut left quickly]]

You climb quickly but when you reach the top you see that there's a person waiting for you. [[climb back down quietly to avoid a confrontation]] [[call out to them]]

Before you start climbing down you see that three people waiting at the bottom of the building. you have to stay. [[call out to them]]

The person turns around and is wearing a silver mask. "You're apart of the chase" he says. and holds out another note. "Be here tomorrow at 10am." He drops the note and then jumps off the building. There's no way he could survive that jump. It's 8 stories. But when you go to the edge he's gone. [[go to the note]]

You pick it up and notice it has the same isignia on it as the one in your locker. Which means these people go to your school. or at least have access to it. The note has a map on it. with a building circled. a warehouse within the city. [[go to bed]]

The next morning you show up to the building. When you walk in you see a handful of people loitered around what looks like a rundown living room. complete with a kitchen off to the side. [[crack a joke to let them know you're here]] [[approach quitely]]

"Sorry for dropping in" It's a lame joke but you grab they're attention. A boy eating raisin brand walks up to you and introduces himself. "Hi I'm Garrett, or G-Dog." [[Ask what you're doing here]]

The man hands deep in a box of raisin brand looks up and grins. "New recruits here" he calls. jumping up. He dashes to you and pulls a hand from the box of cereal. "Garrett! Or G-Dog, nice to meet you slice" You shake his hand. Welcome to "The Spot." [[Ask what you're doing here]]

"welcome to "The Spot" G-Dog explains that they're a free-running group that assists with the City's screw-ups. it's a very vague answer. "We see you free-running all the time. you cover your tracks well and we noticed you don't really have much to lose. [[I appreciate the offer but I have too much on my plate right now. I'm sorry]] [["What do you mean screw-ups"]]

"No problem man we understand. Take care. But if you change your mind just let us know" You leave and return to your life. Eventually you become a great gymanstics teacher and move up in the world. Get married, have kids and coach Olympians. The end.

"Just arrends for the town! It's not really a big deal" You look to the group of people behind him. "So are you the leader?" "no way man I'm the glorified Errand boy." he laughed. You chose to not ask what that exactly means. [["who's the leader]] [["So how do I become a full fledged member?"]]

"Jake's on his way" a man called from one of the reclining chairs. him and another man playing a video game on a large plasma t.v. You note the game is Mario Kart and the fact that they have mario kart makes you want to join for that reason alone. [[understand and ask to play mario kart]]

"Gotta run some arrands with us" Garrett said. Like training. you go out with us on a run and if you can keep up with us and handle it then you're in. It's different for everyone." You nod. Glancing around. "So do you guys live here?" "We don't give out our info just yet. Slice" Garrett says. [["Why Not?"]] [[understand and ask to play mario kart]]

"You gotta be okayed into the group for our info...jsut so you know. Once you're in...you're in this shit for life alright? It's the warning we gotta give. We're not just a side organization." You understand but then notice everyone's stopped what they're doing. Even the boys playing Mario Kart paused the game. They were giving you a look. It seems like screwing these peoples over is the last thing you'll do.. You're not sure what's going to happen from here on out but you get the feeling that you're life won't be quite the same after you're run with these people. [[understand and ask to play mario kart]]

You sit and play Mario Kart with Dylan and Brian. The two welcome you nicely and you fit in well but there's something you're not quite sure about in regards the group. You play anyway. Waiting for the leader jake to arrive. As the game goes on you hear the door open and slam shut. Hurried footsteps make you turn around and you see a blonde guy glaring at you. "So you did bring him in." he seemed angry [[stand and approach the angry guy]]

You approach him and his glare only intensifies. "Hi I'm-" "Yeah I know who you are." he looks to Garrett. "What the fuck are you doing G." "I figured he'd make a good teammate." Garrett said with a mouth full of cereal. "What of it?" "What of it? who's spot is he gonna fill huh?" he said spreading his arms exhasperated. "Cool it Jake" "Cool it?" he snapped. Garrett through up his hands in mock surrender. "I need a helper alright! So unless you want to do that then-" "fine" jake snapped. "The Spot" was silent. "just like that?" "You take care of it if it doesn't work out. Let me know when it's my turn for his test." he shot me a glare before leaving. "So...I guess you get to start." [["No way...I'm not about to be in this with all the drama...thank you but...I'm sorry]] [["o...kay?" you shake hands with Garrett and he leads you to a doorway that has a curtain as a door."]]

You turn to leave when suddenly everything goes black. Garrett shot you in the back of the head...You're dead.

The curtain hid a stair case that led to the upstairs floor that lined the building. a railing that you could look down from that surrounded the living room. "This is your new room Derek" he said pointing to a door. you step in and it's about the size of the roof that you lived on. A dresser and you're own private bathroom. The place was nice honestly despite the exterior of the building. "Go ahead and make yourself at home buddy! We start tomorrow with your training. You have Brian first." "Who's Brian?" "The Mario Kart dude." "Ah...so..what is training?" "you pass our tests your in." he said with a shrug. "simple." "Alright...thanks" he closes the door and you take a look around. it's late and you're tired. so you decide to lay down and go to sleep. the bed was the most comfortable bed you've laid on. [[Go to sleep]]

The next morning you step out into the foyer. You're on break so there's not school to worry about for the rest of the week. You lean over the balcony and sniff. Someone's cooking. "Hey!" you look down. Brian wearing an appron and holding a spatule. "Let's eat! We got a busy day!" [[go and eat breakfast]]

"So what are we doing?" you ask as you're eating. "I'm going to give you three tests" he said sitting down. "you have to beat me in two of them to move on." "alright. and if I lose?" "then you leave and that's it" he said with a shrug. [[ask about the tests]]

"so what are these tests?" Brian swollowed a mouth full of eggs. clearing his plate in minutes. you notice and eat faster. "The first test is sparing." he said standing. "which we start now" Suddenly Brian is jumping across the table and you're tackled down. Caught by surprise you kick off of him. [["Wait! this is insane!]] [[lung at him and tackle him down]]

"Wait! this is insane!" "deal with it" he snapped as he clocks back and lands a punch in your left cheek. you hit the ground before jumping back up and attempt a quick right hook but he dodges. grabbing the back of your head and slamming his forehead against yours. you stumbled back. [[attempt a roundhouse kick]] [[go for a tackle]]

You tackle him down to the ground and land a punch in his jaw. You scramble to your feet. But he's quick and he lands a kick in your side. you stumble against the couch before lunging forward again. [[Headbutt]] [[suckerpunch]]

You kick surprises him and knocks him off his feet. before he can get up you tackle him and you fall into a wrestling brawl. he kicks you off of him and you slam against the table. you reach behind you. feeling a plate [[hit him with the pan]] [[attempt an uppercut]]

You go for a tackle but you're too dizzy. He see's your attack from a mile away and dodges to the side before lunging forward his knee landing straight in your stomach and you're on the ground. dizzy and injured. [[You lose the first round]]

You struggle to your feet. panting for breath. "You passed out man." he laughed. "you're out the first round. sorry" he shake. "don't beat yourself up too much. you have two more to win." he side. stretching. "go bandage yourself up. meet back at your old place at 10 tonight." at that he disappeared. you search the house for medical supplies. taking medicine and bandaging your arms and waist before laying down. A couple hours later Brian comes barging in and throw a white mask on. You notice he's wearing the signature silver mask of The Chase. "Second challenge time! get in some comfy clothes cause we're going free-running. Meet me at your old place." he closes the door and you stand. groaning as you get dressed. [[go to the free-running challenge]]

You hit him with the pan and it knocks him on the ground. you lung. wrapping your arm around his neck from behind. holding him in a triangle choke hold. "tap out" you yell. he chokes before he taps the ground. and you let him go. he turns to you rubbing his neck. [["Congrats. You pass.]]

You attempt an uppercut. only able to nick the side of his chin but he's too close. a punch lands in the side of your head and you're out cold. [[You lose the first round]]

"congrats. You passed." You're both panting for breath and you help him stand. "Now on to the second challenge." he laughed. motioning for you to follow him. "Where are we going?" "free-running?" he said. "in broad daylight?" you gasp. "You win this one so we're going to make things a little more difficult for the next one." Brian laughed. tugging on his silver mask. He tosses you a white mask and you slip it on. tugging your hood up. [[go to free-running challenge]]

You climb up to your old home. still in tact. "alright. From here to the "The Spot" don't get caught. and don't touch the ground." "ready?" you get into a running position. "three. two. one." you both take off. [[jump straight ahead]]

You jump straight ahead and see a civilian watching you. you freeze. [[jump again]] [[wait a while for the person to leave]]

you back away so you're out of veiw from the civilian and you jump back to your home. you lung back because you remember there's a fire escape that connects to a roof that is surrounded by taller buildings. You take the fire escape and can see Brian ahead of you. [[rush forward after Brian]] [[take a seperate path]]

You wait too long and lose and Brian beats you to "The Spot" [[you lose the second round]]

"Alright" Brian says. "now time for the third challenge." "Already?" you ask with a breath. "Don't worry it's a pretty chill level...you have to beat me in Mario Kart." you stare for a moment. "Seriously?" "hey you're 1 and 1 right now. You beat me then you're in on my count." you let out a long breath. "This place is crazy" you laugh. Brian leads you back into "The Spot." [[Begin round three]]

You catch up to Brian quickly. "Wow! pretty quick for a new guy!" he says lunging onto a gutter and climbing quickly. How he's able to do that without causing the gutter to collapse is unreal. He does seem to weigh at least 20 pounds less then you do. [[follow him]] [[don't risk it and keep going forward]]

You haven't seen brian throughout the whole race. you make it to the spot and see he's across from you. You both have to make a 10 foot leap. "IF you make this you pass dude. unless your scared. it's a long fall" He takes steps back. and you follow [[make the jump]]

You attempt to climb the gutter but it pulls out under you and you fall flat on your back. Brian beats you in the race. [[you lose the second round]]

You end up at the spot. With Brian no where in sight. Suddenly you see him on the other side. "You gonna make the jump?" the jump is a solid 10 feet of space. IF you don't make it you have a three story fall. [[make the jump]] [[call it]]

You lung back a few feet, run and then jump. you're hands grab the edge of the building but you're slipping. before a hand snags yours and pulls you up. Garrett grins at you. "winner winner!" he called back to Brian who had just lept onto the roof of "The Spot." [[you win the second round]]

You call the game into Brian's favor. [[you lose the second round]]

"you have talent kid." Brian says walking up to you. You won two rounds in a row so...you passed in my book" "Nice!" Garrett says holding up his hand. you high five and Brian laughs. "anyone wanna play mario kart?" [[Go and play mario kart]]

As you play Brian tells you that you have to meet with Ross. The mechanic of the group. You end up playing Mario Kart into the night. [[Stop playing and go to bed]]

He sees you coming and slams his hand against your chest. the breath gets knocked out of you and you hit the ground with his hand around you neck. "Call it" he sighed [[You lose the first round]]

The suckerpunch is a good one. it knocks him on the ground again. This hit making him pretty dizzy. you rush forward. slamming your fist into his head once again. before holding him down by his neck. "You gonna tap out?" he nods. slamming his hand on the concreate floor three times. and you let go. [["Congrats. You pass.]]

"Well..thanks for the fun anyway." you scale down the side of "The Spot" giving it one last look before you return to the town. That night you're woken up in your home. you step outside. seeing if anyone is there. You go towards the edge. searching for any civilians. when suddenly you felt hands on your back. you're shoved and you're pushed off the building. You die. Game Over

You call the game into Brian's favor. [[ you lose the second round]]

"Alright" Brian said. "You gotta get some shut eye. It'll be a busy day tomorrow I'm sure" "You're right. if it's anything like today i'm gonna need to sleep off these bruises from the fight" [[Ross' Challenge]]

After choosing their characters they start the rainbow track. The hardest level of the game. immeditaly Brain knocks his car into Dereks. causing Derek's character to fall off the track. Brian's takes the lead in first. once back on you acquire a red shell [[use it on Brian]] [[use it to get ahead of the characters infront of you]]

By the time you reach Brian you're already on the second lap. You use the sheild and he falls behind but not by much. He's gaining on you and you go for a mystery box. It gives you only one banana peel. [[let it go]] [[use it wisely]]

You're not that great on the track but by the time you reach Brian's character you're on the third track. You get a mystery box and it's the bullet that pushes you ahead. [[acvitate it ASAP]] [[wait until the right moment]]

You let the banana peel go and it gets Brian! you're in the lead by a descent amount. you reach the third lap and you see the mystery boxes. [[go for the mystery boxes]] [[you're too far ahead he won't catch up]]

You wait too long and he knocks you off the track again. he ends up beating you in the race. [[you lose the third round]]

You veer too far over and end up slipping off the track. Giving Brian enough time to win. [[you lose the third round]]

With some close calls you end up winning the race! [[you win the third round]]

"Sorry dude" Brian says. "Looks like You gotta train a bit harder." you nod. shaking hands. "Well..thanks for the fun anyway." you leave "The Spot" giving it one last look before you return to the town. That night you're woken up in your home. you step outside. seeing if anyone is there. You go towards the edge. searching for any civilians. when suddenly you felt hands on your back. you're shoved and you're pushed off the building. You die. Game Over

You activate the bullet but Brain is too far ahead. you get up just behind him and he bumps your Kart off the track. because of this Brian wins. [[you lose the third round]]

the finish line is in sight and so is Brian. you choose now to activate your bullet and you blow right past him. winning the game. [[you win the third round]]

"Good Job dude! 2 for 1. I'm impressed." he laughed. The two of you shake hands. "so now it's a pretty chill day for you until tomorrow. you get to hang out with Ross." "and ross is the mechanic?" "yeah! He'll show you some car stuff...all that jazz." he clicks on his controller. "How about a smash bros competition until dinner time?" "You're on" The two of you play smash bros until night time. You eat dinner and then go to bed. [[Ross' Challenge]]

The next day you see a card on the table. "Meet me on Ohio Street, at 10 and bring your mask!" You busy yourself througout the day. Working out, going on a run, doing whatever you can to focus on the challenge head. 9:30 rolls around finally and you put on your mask. [[Head out to Ohio Street]]

You get to Ohio Street. You see the shine of a silver mask and wave. "What are we doing?" "You're going to put your skills to the test." He says. As you and Derek walk down a street lined with cars, Ross begins to explain to Derek that The Gang will always need a getaway vehicle. He hands you a crow bar and a string. [[Take the crow bar]]

As they near the end of the street. Ross stops and looks to you, he says “I grew up breaking into cars to get out of the cold winter breeze, now I do it for the gang, Your first task is to break into three cars in ten minutes!” “One quick hint, new cars have alarm systems. You must not set off an alarm because it will wake up the whole block. "Goodluck” Ross says just seconds before he disappears into the shadows of the night. [[apprach two cars down the street]]

Derek’s stands in the dark alone looking at two cars, the first car he approaches is a red Toyota, it looks to be fairly new but Derek cannot tell. The second car is a black Ford, it looks to be a 1999. Derek begins to panic as he knows he is running out of time. Derek approaches the… [[red toyota]] [[black ford]]

The alarm begins to sound and the block begins to fill with light. Coming from the apartment windows located right above you. He darts to the dark ally to try and hide from the angry men running down the apartment stairs. You've failed. [[you lose Ross' Challenge]]

You approach the car, and stick the crow bar, that Ross handed you before disappearing, into the side of the car. As you wiggle the crow bar around, it pops open. [[open the door]]

Ross takes the mask back. "Nice knowing you dude" you nod and turn down the alley. when suddenly your stopped by another man in a silver mask. he raises a gun and shoots you. Game Over

You open the door and wonder “ how will Ross know that I have unlocked the car?” you hear a faint whisper “Hurry up.” Its Ross, while you cannot see Ross, you knows he is watching. you close the door and look for your next victim. [[A Blue Chevrolet, looks to be a brand new car.]] [[A green Honda, It looks to be a 2000.]]

You approach the car, and stick the crow bar, that Ross handed you before disappearing, into the side of the car. As you wiggle the crow bar around, it pops open. [[ open the door]]

you open the door and close it very quickly, to show Ross that you have successfully opened it. You looks for the next car. [[The closest car is a black audi.]] [[b. A Red Chevrolet, looks to be a run down car]]

You're in. Now you have one more to get in too to prove yourself. [[. White 2000 BMW]] [[Grey 1999 Honda]]

As you stick the crow bar into the side of the car, you both hear a man yelling from above “ Hey get away from my car.” you both look at each other and panic. you know the man is on his way down there to stop you. You pop open the door ( with just seconds to spare). As the apartment doors open, it is the angry man, He is still yelling at you two. Ross yells at you to get in the car. you both take off. You've stolen the angry mans car, Ross knows that he will be in trouble once they return to "The Spot" Once you get there you stare out the dash. you're done for. that's it. "You have guts dude" Ross says. "Didn't go as planned but the fact that you got us a new set of wheels is steller" he laughed. "you pass" [[Go inside]]

"So who's next?" "Dylan. He's our tresurer in a way." Ross said. washing his hands in the sink. "Anything i should prepare for?" "nope he'll tell you what he wants you too do. it should be fairly easy. just a pick up." You nod and head you your room. mentally preparing for Tomorrow. [[Dylan's Challenge]]

You wake up the next morning to an empty house once again. As you busy yourself throughout the day all you can think about is the crime you commited yesterday. maybe this isn't what you're meant for. Maybe the things they do here is a bit too shady. Suddenly you hear a door close and you turn. Jake is glaring at you. you glance outside and realize it's dark out. "Get your mask on and follow me." He brushes past you to the back exit. "Is Dylan-" "Dylan got shipped out of the state for a week. So you'll be doing my test." he said. throwing you the white mask that was on the counter. he shoved his on and you follow. [[follow Jake out the back.]]

As you fall into step next to Jake he mumbles to you. "The first two tests are easy. From here on out the only way out is in a body bag." he doesn't give you time to answer. and a shiver works down your spine. You recogize the way you're going. It's not confirmed until you're scaling a familiar six story tall building. When you reach your old home Jake is standing infront of it facing you. "My test test is simple." He motions to your home. "Get rid of it." he picks up a sludgehammer and holds it out to you. [["no"]] [[take the sludgehammer]]

"No. I get that you're not fond of me. but this place has kept me alive for years. I can't just throw it away." You take steps to the edge. "I'm sorry. I can't do it." You think he leaves. You think that's the end of it. when suddenly you see something brown slipping down around your throat. JAke has put a rope around your throat, and dragged you to the floor. He is dragging you towards the edge now. you’re is losing consciousness. You can no longer breath. You’re out and now laying near the edge of the building, that is when Jake icks you over the edge. Game Over

You take the sludgehammer throwing a glare over you shoulder before you smash every space heater. you taer the tarp down and brake all the supporting posts. You're home is destroyed. "Good Job rookie" he laughed. "The chase is all you got now." Jake leaves you in the remains of your old home. You turn and make your way back to "The Spot" [[Final Challenge]]

When you return to the "The Spot" only Garrett is in sight. "What's up G! you made it in huh?" "I guess I did" you mumble. Still slightly shaken up. "well we have one more test dude. pretty easy based on your talent. We're taking a car alright?" You follow Garrett. "I'll drive" he says getting into the car that you had stolen with Ross. On the drive the air is slightly heavy. "Not meaning to make things all dark but...I figured now would be a time to tell you what we do exactly and why we don't get caught." You stare at Garrett as he stares ahead. "We help the mayor. We launder money and get rid of any pests in the city. We also keep the place clean of drugs. While that's impossible we've been able to consolidate the druggies into one neighborhood. Our money funds those major drug busts." he laughed. "So pests?" "you'll see" he sighed. pulling down an alley. You see two homeless men with there hands over a fire. and you both get out. "Howdie partners!" Garrett calls holding his signature box of cereal. "Are you the welcoming committee?" one laughed. "Basically. You're new to town so someone's gotta show you how we work." "what's with the mask?" "ah i got a weird trend going here." he said. his mask was pushed up just above his nose and to the side so he can eat his cereal. "Where you guys from?" "ah we're just passing through. we travel ya know? ain't got no families" "No families huh? no friends either?" "nope just partners in crime trying to live" Garrett nodded. "pretty dangerous to be living off everyones radar...gotta have someone right?" "we have friends in alabama but...we have spoken to them in years" Garrett laughs. "Awesome" he tugs his hand from the cereal box. But rather then a handful of cereal bits...it was a glock. two gun shots later the two homeless men were on the ground. [[What the fuck!]]

You start to panic. stumbling back. The world is shaking and you can't see straight. You just watched the most goofy, carefree kid you've ever met...murder two innocent men in cold blood. Garrett is standing infront of you. yelling but his words are muffled by the ringing in your ears. [[Listen]] [[Punch Garrett]]

Garrett grabs you and shakes you. the ringing in your ears stops. "Get it together!" he snaps. "Get rid of the bodies and your in. got it?" "what?" "Put the bodies in the trunk. make sure the car gets destroyed in the junkyard that's all I can say alright? you gonna do it?" you stare at him for a moment. [[hell no! I'd never help with something like this!"]] [[get rid of the bodies]]

"Hell no! I'd never help with something like this!" Garrett stands. "Alright. Alright" he held up his hands. nodding his head. his voice back to playful. "I get it man. It's a lot to take in. how about this. don't say anything. and all will be fine. okay?" you nod. "Sorry for the craziness man" he holds out his hand for a high five. seriously? a high five? in this situation? you turn around. when a gun shot goes off and everything goes black. the last words you hear are. "should'nt have left me hanging dude." Game Over

Despite all you've seen you can't get Jakes voice out of your head. You know that Garrett will kill you if you don't help. "Alright" you say. gulping. "Alright fine I'll help. Garrett grins. "Thats my boy!" he laughed. "Hell yeah I knew you'd be all for this!" he tosses you the keys. "See you tomorrow man." he dashes out of the alley and down the street. you let out a breath. pushing you mask off your face. At the junkyard you watch the car get demolished in a large machine. As you watch and listen to the crunching medal...you can't see straight. How many times are you going to do this? pests...he meant homeless people. that's why there's never been any homeless men in Franklin.
