You're in a forest.
You wait, but the sun does not rise.
[[climb a tree]]
[[build a fire]]
You look around for a sturdy tree to climb but quickly realize the trees are actually made of brittle glass.
[[climb anyways]]
[[smash a tree to collect glass]]
You start looking around to gather firewood. You hear a quiet rustling.
[[investigate rustling]]
[[mind your own business]]
You begin to climb and the glass tree is surprisingly sturdy. You climb and climb and climb. Eventually you encounter a creature with green eyes.
[[look creature in the eyes]]
[[avert your gaze]]
You smash a nearby tree and start pocketing shards. But you sense something behind you. Turning around, you see a shadowed creature. They are at once everything you have ever loved and everything you have ever known. You get chills and now you must leave, even though the creature is somehow soothing.
[[stab your self with shards]]
[[stab creature with shards]]
You look the creature in the eyes. You are mezmerized beyond belief. You remember coming out of the womb. You remember your first steps. Your first kiss. You remember that feeling you thought you forgot that one time.
It's daylight. You're back at the office. George is asking if you have more staples. You can smell the coffee. You look for the staples, but they aren't there.
You look away but the creature extends a hand to you. In their hand is a banana flavored taffy.
[[eat it]]
[[spit on it]]
You feel a deep pain in your forehead. You start screaming. The creature runs away. The pain is unbearable. It starts to tingle. It starts to burn. An agressive light comes forth, seemingly from your forehead. You touch your face, and it's true. There is a light coming from your forehead. You can see the forest clearly now. Everything makes sense now, you are safe.
The candy starts fizzing. You look up at the creature and they are foaming at the mouth too. The foamy bile is aggressive and moving quickly. It's growing and taking shape around you, it's above you, it's around you. You try to move backwards but the glass pokes you into staying. You are trapped. The bile encompasses you. You slowly decay for the next five years.
You awake on a comfy chair. You have memories, but you're okay with them. The tea kettle whistles and you breathe a knowing breath. You know you will be okay after all.
You start throwing shards in the direction of the shadow creature. But that does nothing because it's a shadow.
The shadow jumps at you and takes over your body. You are now the shadow, and the shadow is you. You could say it's romantic but it's actually just unpleasant.
You walk towards the sound and as you turn the corner you see a large network of red beetles guarding a giant heap of firewood.
[[attempt to gather the wood]]
[[yell loudly]]
You start gathering things and quickly realize you have no idea how to start a fire. You begin rubbing sticks together but again, you have no idea what you're doing, so it doesn't work. Why are you even trying to do this? The darkness is driving you mad. You lay down, crying.
Squirrels come quickly, almost as if they were waiting. Dozens come and pick you up and transport you to the squirrel queen.
Once you have arrived, you realize the queen is three times the size of you.
[[cower in fear]]
[[get real mad]]
You touch the beetles to move them away but quickly find out that they are not nice. The beetles burrow under your skin quickly and effectively. You watch them crawl around in horror.
[[roll on the ground to squash them]]
[[try to talk to the beetles calmly]]
You attempt to scare the beetles by yelling. The beetles scatter. You begin to pick through the firewood and come across a silver crystal.
[[put it in your pocket]]
[[attempt to eat it]]
You roll around yelping in horror. A blue slime starts to bleed from your pores. The slime is warm and comforting. You start to believe in yourself, a great heat takes over you, reminding you that you are powerful and can accomplish all your goals.
You burst into flames. The beetles rejoice. The fire has been built.
You open your mouth to speak but instead a beetle comes out. You spit it out and realize there is a message written on its back. The message reads "you smell bad"
You sniff yourself, you do smell bad. You wonder how long you've smelled bad. Did your friends think you smelled bad the other night? Is that why your date never called you back?
Your flesh falls off.
You walk away with your firewood and your cool new crystal. As you build your fire you begin to feel a cooling sensation in your pocket. It feels nice, like a little air conditioner. You start to feel a breeze. It's nice, too.
Suddenly, you realize your leg has been crystalized. You can't move it at all. You are sad. Over a long and painful time the rest of your body crystalizes. It is harsh, but somewhat sweet. The beetles come to say goodbye and gather around your body, singing songs of praise and glory. They rejoice in your death, their crystal collection has grown.
You stick the crystal in your mouth and swallow. It tastes like nothing of value. You lay down, tired from all the digestion.
Hours or minutes or days later you awake in a bed, cozy and warm. Your lover plays with your hair. You smile gently, aware that love can't last forever but you're okay for today.
The queen decapitates you.
You start yelling at the queen. You say she's too big. You say she's got bad breath. You say she is rude and untrustworthy.
The queen begins crying and sulks away.
You are now the squirrel queen. You lead the squirrels onward, towards a destiny of power.
