[[West -> West]]
[[East -> East]]
As you begin walking towards the mysterious source of light, you hear a sound nearby.
[[Ignore -> First Encounter]]
[[Hide -> First sighting]]
As you walk East the pillar of smoke seems to grow, and you start to see what looks like animals running in the opposite direction. To your left you see a cabin.
[[Investigate cabin -> The Cabin]]
[[Continue toward the pillar -> Stampede]]
As the sound gets closer, you are able to catch a glimpse of whatever is approaching you, and you realize whatever it is, it isn't human. You realize the potential danger too late, and just as you turn to seek shelter you hear voice.
"Stop"
[[Talk to the stranger -> Conversation]]
[[Lunge for shelter -> Chase]]
You quickly position yourself behind a nearby bush and peek out at whatever it is that's approaching you. As it gets closer you're able to make out a humunoid creature covered in blood. As it walks past you hear it mumbling darkly to itself, laughting maniacally. You wait a while after you can't see it anymore, then you exit the bush and return to the road.
[[Down the road]]
You enter the cabin, and are surprised to find it completely abandoned, you hear something large move outside the cabin.
[[Hide -> The closet]]
[[Search for weapon -> Confrontation]]
As you get closer to the pillar of smoke it becomes apparent that it's a forest fire. This fire has disturbed the local animals and they're rushing towards you.
[[seek shelter -> Hollow Tree]]
[[stand your ground -> Trampled]]
You rush to the closet in the corner of the room, knocking over a lamp in your haste. Just as

desperately search for anything you can use to defend yourself. You find a rolling pin
in a drawer as the door crashes open behind you to reveal a huge black bear. You charge the bear, but
it slashes you with it's claws and rips out your throat.
You die.
You try to think about a member of your family, and calm yourself down.
[[Think about mom -> Death]]
[[Think about dad -> Survive]]
[[Think about romantic partner -> Gay Rights?]]
You remember your mother, the woman who beat you as a child, and you decide life is no longer worth living. You calmly step out of the closet, and stare into the bear's eyes. Shocking you're reminded of when you tried to tell your mother that you were homosexual. The bear has the same response as your mother.
[[ afterlife]]
You remember your father, the kind caring man who supported you during your times of strife. His memory calms you the same way that his presence did, and you're able to remain still until the bear leaves.
[[Who is that? -> hunter]]
You sit there in the darkness of the closet, pondering the struggle that you and your homosexual lover had to go through before society accepted you.
You become inspired, and burst out of the closet.
[[UH OH -> bye bye bear]]
One of the doors from the closet flies across the room and slams into the bear's head. Taking advantage of his momentary distraction you charge the bear and with a single blow you punch it and break its skull.
[[Warrior's fate]]
You search desperately for any sort of shelter from the stampede, you see a hollow tree off to your right and you rush inside. You're able to avoid being trampled, but you fall asleep waiting for all the animals to pass.
[[Sleep -> flaming man]]
Idiot, a deer rushes towards you, and being the cocksure individual you are, you don't move. The deer tramples you underfoot.
[[go limp -> barely survive]]
[[struggle to survive -> Dead]]
You try to relax your entire body, but the deer kick you in head
[[What now?]]
Your resistance proves detrimental, as you try to sit up and the deer's foot slams into your face and shatters your skull.
[[Hello darkness my old friend -> afterlife]]
You wake up and try to look around. You're able to see that the forest fire has burned out before an immense pain in your chest forces you to lay back down. You are able to determine that several of your ribs along with one of your legs are broken.
[[Rest -> Kind stranger]]
All around you are familiar faces, your family, friends, you've finally found peace.
A man walks in, covered in blood. He immediately walk over to the closet you're hiding in and pulls the doors open. He reaches in and pulls you out and throws you down and bed.
"Come with me if you want to live."
And so you do, you spend your life following in his footsteps helping wherever you can.
When you wake up, you find a woman standing over you with worry in her eyes.
"Finally you're awake, don't worry I'll take care of you"
Together you and this woman wander the wasteland, taking care of one another and always searching for the next adventure.
You turn back to the voice, and respond:
[["What are you?" -> Species]]
[["Stay Back!" -> prejudice]]
You turn around and try to run away, but you hear the creature begin to chase you. The longer you run the closer the creature sounds. You reach a fork in the path, to the left the path seems to continue for a while, to the right you can see a river. Which way do you go?
[[River]]
[[endless road]]
"After the war, a new species emerged, my people, the Helixes."
Looking at the person you can see where this name came from, as they have a helical shapes running up their arms and legs.
[["How?" -> Backstory]]
[["You're disgusting!"]]
[[Attack -> Fight]]
(cameron helped with the name)
He sighs, "Another one?" he asks sadly. Filled with your bigot rage you assualt the man, it seems whatever he is, it's clearly weaker than humans. You easily overpower him, then kill him. Emboldened by your bigotry, you spend your life opressing and harming anyone who is different from you.
He expains to you what had happened, what had brought this terrible reality to existance. As he talks, you begin to walk with him, and thus begins the rest of your life, traveling througout this brutal new world spreading knowledge and fighing unjust prejudice.
"Another one of you folks, You're the truly disgusting ones."
He mugs you then leaves you helpless by the side of road. Eventually you recover enough to continue on your lonely journey, but your heart is full of bitterness and you spend the rest of your life alone, shunning all human company.
Along with the bizarre skin appearance, the Helix appears to possess greater strength that you imagined. As you launch yourself at it, it catches you mid-air, and, after mournfully looking you in the eyes, he crushes your windpipe.
[[ afterlife]]
You skin the bear, and turn it's pelt into a cloak, and you spend the rest of your days wandering the wasteland, destroying any who oppose you and protecting the weak and oppressed.
You are awoken by an unbearable heat. You awake surrounded by flames.
[[It's all cool]]
[[Keep calm and escape]]
[[Panic]]
You decided the flames' heat is comforting and you decide to go back to sleep.
[[wonder what'll happen -> Cooked alive]]
You make your way out of the tree, then take the time to check yourself for any fire. You see that your shirt is on fire.
[[stop, drop, roll]]
[[take it off and stomp out the flames]]
You throw yourself out of the tree and run as fast as you can away from the tree. The air rushes past you and fans the flames on your clothes.
[[Who cares?! keep running!]]
[[Stop, Drop, and Roll!]]
You stop, drop, and roll, and you manage to escape unscathed.
[[life in a village]]
You take you're shirt off and throw it on the ground, then stomp on it until there's no more fire. You suddenly realize that the forest fire has gotten closer, but you might have some time.
[[put the shirt back on]]
[[Leave it]]
You take the time to put your shirt back on, but just as you get it settled you see that you're surrounded by the fire.
[[All hope is lost -> Cooked alive]]
You run away, abandoning your shirt, you escape.
[[Life goes on]]
The heat of the fire overwhelms you and you're cooked alive.
You keep running and the fire covering your clothes grow.
[[crispy -> Cooked alive]]
You throw yourself down and start rolling to put out the fire. Unfortunately you threw yourself down on a flaming bush, and you're permanently scarred.
[[Lonesome wanderer]]
You spend the rest of your life wandering in solitude, masticating at every chance you get. Your hideous appearance and odd hobbies lead to every sentient creature you encounter to shun you. Have fun being a loner.
Eventually you find a small settlement, they're the ones who started the forest fire. At first they think you're a bit odd since you have no shirt, but eventually they accept you and you become a contributing member of their society.
You soon encounter a village and are quickly accepted into
You continue down the road for a while, and eventually find the source of the mysterious light, it's what appears to be a small village, with no more than 20 houses surrounding a large square of grass, with an especially large building adjacent to the square. As you approach you're surprised that you don't hear any of the usual sounds you'd espect from a village, no sound of children playing or people idly chattering, you decided to investigate.
[[Search a house]]
[[Seach the large building by the square]]
You walk into the nearest house. Inside you find the entire room in a state of disarray, with overturned furniture throughout the room, and what apppears to be blood oh the wall. You hear a sound behind you and you turn around to see a man.
"Who are you?" He growls, "one of the new recruits?"
[["Yeah, I'm the new guy"]]
[[Charge him]]
You make your way across the square and enter the large building without checking inside first. You find yourself surrounded by a group of rough looking men covered in blood. Before you can do anything one of them grabs you by the collar and throws you on a nearby table.
"What are you doing here?" He demands.
[["I'm just curious!"]]
[["Please don't kill me!"]]
"Just curious huh? Well I guess you never heard that curiosity killed the cat!"
Saying this he proceeds to break your leg as his friends cheer him on. As you spasm in pain you glance a knife stuck into the table next to you.
[[Reach for the knife]]
[[Try to punch him]]
"Ha! I love it when they beg!"
He grabs a nearby knife and rams it through your leg, pinning it to the table. He proceeds to torture you for the next couple hours, until, thankfully, you die a few days later from the pain.
[[ afterlife]]
You desperately reach for the knife, grab it, then slam it into the throat of the man that's holding you down. He falls to the floor, choking to death on his own blood.
[[Leader]]
You desperately swing your fist at his head, but he catchs your hand an breaks your arm.
[[Give up]]
[[Use other hand]]
You stop struggling and just go limp.
"Ahhhh, now it isn't fun anymore."
Suddenly bored by you, the man leans on your throat, and strangles you to death.
You manage to swing your other hand, hitting him in the face, and stunning him for a second. Taking advantage of this oppurtunity you hit him again, pushing him away from you. You roll off the table on to floor to find a gun laying next to you, you grab the guy and start shooting at the men.
[[Survivalist]]
You sprint down to the river and try to forge across, you barely manage to make it across without being swept away. Upon reaching the other bank you turn back to look at the creature, which now seems to be flounering in the middle of the river. You realize that you have a choice, help the creature, or watch it die.
[[Mercy]]
[[Cruelty]]
You run as fast as you can down the seemingly endless road, but to no avail, the creature manages to chase you down, knocking you to the ground. The creature is huge, and covered in fur with immense claws tipping each hand. With one of these hands it reaches down and rips out your throat. As your vision fades out for the last time you can see the creature lifting the bloody meat to its mouth.
you grab a nearby branch and offer it to the creature, who greatfully grabs it and holds on as you pull it ashore. As the creature reaches the shore it lets go of the branch and collapses on the groud.
"Thank you," it says.
"I don't believe in pointless death," you respond.
[[Bringer of mercy]]
You decide that this creature doesn't deserve your help, and so you find the largest rock you can and throw it at the creature. The rock strikes it in the head and the creature immediatly falls beneath the water, it doesn't come back up.
[[life of brutality]]
Thus begins a lifetime of traveling the wasteland, bringing hope and mercy to anyone who needs it, along with your new partner, the strange creature who's life you saved.
You spend the rest of your life wandering the wasteland, killing anyone who gets in your way, showing no mercy to anyone. Needless to say, you travel alone.
You manage to kill all the men before they are able to fire back, thus begging of the rest of your life, traveling around surviving every conflict by the skin of your teeth.
All the other men there stare at the dead man for a second, then one by one they bow to you. It becomes clear that they have chosen you to lead them now. You accept this offer, traveling throughout the land terrorizing villages until one day, you meet someone who can best you and take your place.
"ah, we've been waiting for you to arrive."
He escorts you to the large building in the center of town, where you meet the rest of the gang. Continuing with your lie, you convince them that you came to join them, and you're quickly accepted into the group. From then on you spend your life traveling with the group, terrorizing and raiding whereever possible, and eventually, the lie of being a heartless murderer, becomes the truth.
You charge towards him and ram him with your shoulder. He stumbled back against the wall and you grab his throat tightly, squeezing until he stops moving completely. You quickly search him for anything useful, but are soon interupted by sounds outside, you immediatly come to the conclusion that it's the rest of the group he mentions. You run, and you keep running, never stopping for the fear that if you do, they'll catch you, and avenge their fallen friend.
