INT. Living Room - Night
Mom: You've been sitting in the corner with your coat on for like twenty minutes. You said you were leaving twenty minutes ago. Is everything ok?
Alexandria: I'm [[good.]]
or
Just haven't seen you guys in a [[minute and wanted to hang out a bit ->Glad to have you around]] //Mom smiles at her.//
Mom: It's really nice to have you around. I swear you moved out and we've seen you maybe three times in six months.
Dad: Although, Nicky, you have to admit it's a lot quieter with her moved out.
Alexandria: Oh whatever, you know you miss me!
//Everyone continues watching TV.//
Mom: Why don't you take off your coat if you're just gonna sit there?
Alexandria:
No it's [[okay.]]
[[I have to run to the bathroom]]//Alexandria stares at the TV quietly. The pressure inside her mounting.//
Alexandria: I really miss hanging out with the family.
Dad: Like, we said, we miss you as well. You seriously have to come around often.
Alexandria: I love you guys.
//Alexandria's parents glance at each other and send her little brother to bed.//
Mom: Something is clearly wrong. You've been sitting there saying you're ready to leave for about an hour now. What's on your mind? You can tell us [[anything.->eyes.]] We're here for you. //Alexandria walks down the hall and into the bathroom. She can hear her mom and dad send her little brother to bed.//
Alexandria: Fuck.
//She slides to the floor and gags into the toilet, but nothing comes out. She clenches her fist and silently mouths the numbers one through ten. She flushes the toilet and looks into the mirror.//
Alexandria: I got this. I got this. I ain't scurred.
//She loosens her coat a bit and heads back into the [[living room.]]//Dad: You feeling alright? You were in there for a while.
//Alexandria smiles uneasily and sits back in the corner. Her mom pauses the TV.//
Dad: What's up, hon?
//Everyone sits silently. Alexandria's mom and dad are staring at her. Meanwhile, Alexandria is doing everything in her power not to meet their [[eyes.]]//Mom: What's wrong?
Dad: You can talk to us.
Alexandria: I've got something to tell you guys and you just aren't going to be happy.
//Alexandria's face is turning red and her eyes are beginning to run over. Her words are choked and stilted.//
Alexandria: Someone hit my [[car]].
Mom: It's your car.
Alexandria: True, but it's under your insurance still.
Dad: Also - you already told us about the car in a text like three days ago. That's not it. What's wrong? Don't deflect.
Alexandria: I have - to run to the [[bathroom.->I have to run to the bathroom]]//Silence permeates the room//
Mom: You know how I feel, you know how God feels, and you know how we raised you. I have nothing to say.
//She shakes her head and pulls a blanket from the couch tightly around her.//
Alexandria: I know I disappointed you guys, but I can't keep hiding this. It hurts. When you call and ask if anything interesting is going on I've had to lie. I just couldn't hold it in anymore. I couldn't let her go unseen anymore.
//Silence//
Dad: I'm going to walk you to your car. We can talk about this later.
Alexandria: But -
Dad: [[Later]]
Alexandria: [[I've been dating a girl for the past six months - and we moved in together.->Forbidden love]]
or
[[I'm in love with a woman.->Forbidden love]]
or
[[I'm in love with a white female dairy farmer from northern Wisconsin.->Forbidden love]]//They walk to the car quietly.//
Dad: We both love you very much still.
Alexandria: I know.
Dad: Mom too.
Alexandria: I know. I love you guys.
Dad: Talk to you later.
//Alexandria starts to pull out of the driveway. Before she pulls away she rolls down her window and hollers out to her dad.//
Alexandria: HEY, HER NAME IS BREA. I LOVE HER AND HER NAME IS BREA.
//Her father stares after her as she drives away//
