TRIGGER WARNING: This game contains sensitive content.
But maybe,
just maybe,
that is why it is worth [[play]]ing.Who are you?
[[Friend 1]]
[[Friend 2]]
[[Friend 3]]You have lived with Friend 2 for [[four years]] now. They say change is a [[good thing.]]When I introduce myself people usually keep me a [[secret.]]Probably because they don't think anyone would [[believe]] them.Or perhaps because no one would really care [[anyways.]]I try to stick to [[one]] friend at a time. That is the best part of my [[friendship]] I'd say.The [[intimacy]].I'll love you [[until]] you don't even know how to define the term.I'll love you until I'm the only one [[left.]] And then I will [[kill you.]]It will be easy because no one [[believed you.]]Because no one [[ever]] does.Because you can't call into work [[heartbroken.]]So you learned to pretend that [[you]] weren't broken at all.Who am [[I?]]Or should I say, who are [[you?]]Choose to be another friend and you will [[find out|play]].You know what 2 will say before it is said, because the words are written in your mind like [[DNA.]]You can recite the cadences of their [[voice]] like fourth grade speeches. You giggle at the sarcasm sculpting their smile like [[kindergarten]] playground prances. You've always thought that they were a little bit like [[Goldilocks.]]Not because of the [[hair.]]But because they will never settle for anything less than [[perfect.]]You've [[never]] been perfect. But you've never had to be ever since [[2]] came around.Your [[comfort zone.]]Your [[adventure seeker.]]Your tension [[reliever]].Your put-yourself-together [[motivator.]]Your [[inspiration.]]2 tells you that a love of life is the greatest love you can ever [[have.]]2 tells you that in five year's time they'll be living in their [[dream]] house by the lake.2 tells you that when they have kids they will be named [[unisex]] names. So when you leave to get groceries and you hear the bath water running, you think 2 is getting ready to [[relax]] after a long work week. You don't yell goodbye as to not disturb the [["zen"]].When you get back, you don't understand thy the water has stained the carpet pink underneath the bathroom [[door.]] You don't understand because you never caught any warning signs of [[suicide.]]You don't understand [[any of it at all.]]If only you could understand 2's [[point of view]]; if only you had that [[explanation.]]Choose to be [[Friend 2.]]You sink onto the couch still holding your bag of [[groceries.]] Who are you?
Friend 1
[[Friend 2|Friend 2]]
Friend 3The body has been cleared and the stain covered with a [[towel]].You notice [[someone]] in the corner of the room.He introduces himself as Friend [[3]].
He calls himself Depression. He shakes your hand and it feels like he enters your [[bloodstream.]] He tells you 2 was his [[best friend]] too.You look into his eyes and think that this may be bearable with his [[support.]]You look into the mirror across the hall and realize that you are standing [[alone.]] But, with him, you [[do not feel that way.]]You feel like you need him to [[stay.]] And he does, he stays as long as you need him too...
just like he did for Friend 2.
[[ABOUT THE GAME]]CREATED BY: Rebecca Zseder, UTM student
ENG279 for Professor Siobhan O'Flyyn
An interactive story in promotion of mental illness awareness and its effects on EVERYONE involved.
[[Three is a Crowd.|play]]It means you are climbing a transformation meant to transform becoming into [[became.]]You have lived with 1 for four years [[now.]]A couple of months ago though, you met [[someone else.]]3. He made you guess his name.
It took you a while but soon enough you [[understood.]] You understood that it needed to be [[kept]] secret.A rendezvous of [[too much thinking.]] But a rendezvous [[none the less.]]An intimacy no one could [[know about.]]Embarrasing and misunderstood if [[discovered.]]So you kept it a secret and put on a [[show]] of being yourself.[[Laughing.]][[Smiling.]][[Giving advice.]]Planning a future that made sense to everyone else but [[yourself.]]And now seeing 1 on the other side of the table is like staring at [[circus mirrors.]]Because you can see yourself but you don't exactly look [[the same.]]It's like 1 is looking at you through [[convex or concave.]]Always slightly [[out of shape.]]You say the same things but they echo [[out of tune.]]1 should know this, they know you...
or at least they [[used to.]]You have turned into [[puzzle pieces.]]You don't understand why everything is [[splitting,]]why there are spaces in your backbone that never used to [[exist,]]how everything can so easily [[divide.]]They say change is a [[good thing]].They say it means [[growth]].They equate it to a [[climbing transformation]].So what have you [[become?]]Friend 3, Depression, he tells you to use the razor because it'll feel good [[splitting your skin.]]It doesn't hurt.
You cut deeper to see [[when it will.]]You feel [[weaker.]]The tub is getting fuller than it should [[be.]]You don't want it to be like [[this.]]You don't want to have done what you [[did.]]Depression is gone, it's just [[you in the tub now.]]You want someone to [[save you]].You want someone to [[help.]]You want someone to[[...|ABOUT THE GAME]]I can feed off of a crowd, but there is an intimacy in [[two.|two.]]
