Darkness.
This is all you see. Were your eyes even open? You touch them just to make sure.
Say, what's the big idea behind all this? The tears that form from accidentally poking them seem to START that they were, in fact, open. //Ouch//.Had someone locked you away in a basement? Had you lost your vision over-night?
... The idea of losing your vision makes you quite emotional.
//What kind of sick prank was this?// You move your arms around you; you kick your legs as well. You don't know what's going on but you sense nothing around you -- //is anyone out there to help?//It's dark, and empty. //Nothing to be done.// Just as you were about to give in to the darkness, you think you see a small ray of light...
//God??//
Honestly, if someone saw you and had called you crazy... you would agree. You see some blurs within the light: shapes form and images slowly start to take place.
What is it that you see?
Rectangles
Circles
idkSo it's rectangles and squares that you see, huh?
Edgy.So you see rounded shapes in the distance? Soft, with no edges.
Truly a pleasant feeling.Who could blame you? Life is a rollercoaster sometimes; it's hard to process what it can throw at you.You walk towards the light, the shapes becoming more clear as to what they are.
Lots of buildings tower over you. //Concrete jungle where dreams are made of?// Haha yeah...You take in your surroundings: a small television in the corner, a shelf filled with books across the room, a coffee table in the centre. Everything was neat and in its place.
It was an unrecognizable home, but it felt like home.
From the furniture that was placed in it, it seemed you were currently sitting on the couch in someone's living room. Yet for some reason, everything seemed much larger than you remembered them being.A soft hum fills the room. The hum turns into loud chattering and the sound of... popcorn being made?
You look around and see crowds of people passing. On your left, rows of movie posters are lined up. //Ah yes, the cinema.// You wonder what's good to see right now.Just as you were about to scan the posters, someone approaches you appearing to be in a rush. But you can't seem to recognize their face.
//"Sorry! I hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long!"//
No
lolEven though you didn't know what was going on, you figured it was in your best interest to spare the poor stranger the embarassment.
//"Shall we go then?"// They smile warmly and offer their arm out to you, which you cautiously (but gladly) accept.
They are taken aback by what you said, face flushed slightly.
//"Um... we agreed we would meet here tonight, right? For our date?"//
No
ahhEmbarassed and hurt, the person apologizes and ducks away from you, disappearing within the crowd.
You are now left alone, lost in a sea of people.
They lead you to a theatre, tickets already purchased beforehand.
You're met with darkness once again, but there's some kind of warmth that comes along with it. The company of the stranger seated beside you fills you with joy. You're not even sure what movie you're watching, but you know you're having a good time being with them.
Since you wanted to avoid overpriced popcorn, you find yourselves at a pizza parlor. Delicious, filling, and for a reasonable price -- how wonderful!
You both chat about everything and anything. Many things in common but still enough differences to have intelligent discussion. You find that you both share the same sense of humour; the parlour is filled with laughter because of the two of you.
How much time has passed since you met this stranger? It feels like you both have been together for so long (and you mean this in the greatest way possible).
You're now at their front door, ready to drop them off for the night.
//"Thanks for everything! I had a really great time; hopefully we can see each other again soon!"//
You can't help but agree, whether you knew who this was or not. They were too good to be true. You were excited yet also a little afraid. //How could anyone be so perfect?//
They smiled at you -- so breathtaking -- and you felt something draw you in. You both lean in... the space between you diminishing... eyes slowly closing...
START...Suddenly you hear a loud shriek. //"Someone, help!"//
You turn to where the sound was coming from and see a masked man running in your direction. You quickly jump out of his way and see a woman on the floor from where the man had come from. //"Please help! He stole my purse!"// she cries, locking eyes with you.The crowds of people keep coming.
And coming.
And coming.
And coming.
So many people yet, nobody you know or to call for help.
Surrounded by so many, yet you feel so START...But everything about them made you feel at ease.
Everything just felt so... right. An elderly lady slowly walks in and takes a seat next to you.
//"And how are we today, kitty?"// She asks while smiling, reaching a hand out towards you.
You retreat further into the couch. //Wait a minute...//A cat?
You look down and saw that you no longer had hands but rather, soft, grey, paws. You look back up and flinch as the lady had already started petting you.
It's a strange feeling, but it's not something you find yourself disliking. In fact, you feel very relaxed, which causes a purr to escape you.Who knew you could purr.
But while currently taking the form of a cat, it wouldn't be that surprising to anyone else who saw you.
All the windows were wide open, letting lots of sun enter. The room you were in was bright and very warm. Your apparent owner on your side, reading a book in one hand, the other gently rubbing your back.
So many questions run through your head about your situation, ...It's been so long since you felt this peaceful.
You can't help but enjoy the quiet atmosphere and want to embrace this peace as much as possible. The loving warmth of your owner next to you fills you with joy, and you find yourself lying close to them to take in as much of this feeling as you can.
So warm... So happy...
You start to feel a bit drowsy, the rhythmic feeling of being petted lulling you to sleep.
And so you close your eyes, and allow yourself to START...You're no superhero, but you're also not about to ignore the woman's cries for help.
You nod at her reassuringly, and proceed to chase the man down. You run as fast as your legs can take you, trying not to lose sight of the masked man.
You see him turn the corner and follow; he enters a building and you do the same.He makes his way towards a flight of stairs and starts going up. You can already feel your lungs wanting to collapse just from seeing all those stairs you have to climb. //Was this really worth it?//
go
And so you take the first step, and run up as fast as you can.
//The stairs keep coming and they don't stop coming...//
You keep making your way up the stairs, catching glimpses of the man ahead of you every once in a while. You're not sure how long you've been climbing, but you can't give up now. You're starting to breathe very heavily. The stairs just don't seem to have an end. Your pace starts to slow and you lose sight of the man ahead of you. Yet something urges you to keep moving forward.
And so you keep walking...
Walking...
Walking...
Walking...You look back for a bit and see the space behind you has disappeared -- total blackness. You're confused, but now there //really// was no turning back.
Next
lool
//How admirable. Who knows how long these stairs can go for, yet you choose to persevere.//
Thinking about being closer to the exit with each step fills you with joy and gives you the strength to press forward... but you really aren't a superhero; you're merely just a human being.
You can no longer tell whether you're still walking or not; your mind grows heavy and STARTGive up? GIVE UP?
Walking....
