//Hey! What took you so long. I was beginning to think you weren't gonna show. You're not chickening out on me now, are you? Come on, let's [[go in]].// <img src= "http://photorator.com/photos/images/staircase-inside-the-front-entrance-of-an-abandoned-stone-house-in-rural-ontario-oc--77924.jpg"/>
//Hmm. This isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks for doing this with me, Alex.
This will be the easiest 400 bucks I'll ever make... well, 200. You'll get half of course!
Well, may as well start exploring. If you want to look around down here, I can look upstairs. Here, gimme your backpack and I'll go set up our sleeping bags.//
''Which room would you like to explore''
[[dining room]]
[[living room]]
<img src= "https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/18/cc/a0/18cca093697177ea0b8526cb796ceba9.jpg"/>
The dining room is smaller than you thought it would be, but it isn't without its treasures.
You found ''a small silver knife''. It looks like good quality silver too. It's quite beautiful, maybe you'll keep it, or maybe you'll pawn it. But for now, you put it in your pocket.
You hear Sarah calling you.
//Alex![[Come see what I found]]//
<img src= "http://mocosubmit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/life-long-gone.jpg"/>
There's not a whole lot in this room, but you open the top dresser drawer and find a ''key''. It looks old, ''maybe it's for one of the rooms in the house''. You put it in your pocket.
You call up to Sarah
//Hey Sarah! [[Are there any locked rooms]] upstairs?//<img src="http://photorator.com/photos/images/staircase-inside-the-front-entrance-of-an-abandoned-stone-house-in-rural-ontario-oc--77924.jpg"/>
You follow Sarah downstairs and down the hallway. At the end of the hall, there is a door on your right. Sarah goes to turn the handle and notes that the door is locked. You try the key, hear a click and the door opens.
<img src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xTl4hbbZ4xs/hqdefault.jpg">
Do you [[enter first]] or do you [[follow Sarah]] down the stairs?//"Sorry Sarah, I think there's something seriously wrong in that basement. I know it's late, but I'm gonna head home. You can come if you want, but I'm not staying"//
You exit out into the hall
<img src= "http://photorator.com/photos/images/staircase-inside-the-front-entrance-of-an-abandoned-stone-house-in-rural-ontario-oc--77924.jpg"/>
You try to leave though the front door, but it appears to be locked from the outside. You'll pulling and twisting the handle as hard as you can but it just won't move. You try using the skeleton key, but that doesn't appear to have any effect either.
Maybe you can get out through the [[window]] in the living room <img src= "http://mocosubmit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/life-long-gone.jpg"/>
You run into the living room and open the window, but as you turn back to retrieve your backpack, it slams shut. You try to open it again, but it won't move. Upon trying to break the glass you hear a loud "THUD" from the hallway.
//"Sarah?"// You call out.
Do you [[investigate]] or keep trying to [[break the window]]You run up the stairs and find Sarah in a room examining a wall.
<img src= "http://www.urbanghostsmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/sheffield-old-town-hall-8.jpg"/>
//It's hollow, I think there might be a hidden room behind it//
Sure enough, upon examining the wall you notice a crack where the wall appears to open. You pull out the knife and use it to help crack the door open.
The passage opens.
Do [[you dare enter]] or do you [[let Sarah investigate]]?Sarah yells back //"Not that I can tell."//
You run upstairs to find Sarah. You see Sarah standing in a room directly to the right of the staircase and enter.
<img src= "http://www.urbanghostsmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/sheffield-old-town-hall-8.jpg"/>
Sarah is examing one of the walls when you tell her that you've found this old key. She turns and asks to see it.
<img src="http://i.vandykes.com/images/xl/206677.jpg"/>
//"Ohh cool. That looks like a skeleton key. Have you checked the basement yet?"//
You explain that you have not.
//"Well, let's go check out the basement"//
[[Check the basement]]
<img src= "https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/0a/ec/98/0aec9811340e7afc9b205823ad2f1b04.jpg"/>
It doesn't look like anyone's been up here in years. You scope the room before looking to see where the windows look out to. When you look out of the window, you see a girl in the back garden. She can't be more than 6 or 7 years old, you wonder what she's doing out there by herself. She looks up at you with cold, dark eyes.
You stare at each other for a few minutes before you awkwardly wave. She does nothing. She just stands there, staring up at you.
//"Who are you waving to?"//
You turn around and see Sarah standing behind you.
When you turn back to the window and begin to explain to Sarah, you notice the girl is [[gone]]//Ohhh you're such a baby//
Sarah enters through the passageway. It is eerily quite for a minute, this house makes you feel uneasy for some reason. You almost feel like you're being watched.
Suddenly, you hear Sarah let out a loud, blood-curtailing scream.
Without thinking, you rush though the passage to [[find her]]
<img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/0f/1f/a3/0f1fa3b73ed9d68fb02d9a651effb1a2.jpg"><img src= "https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/0a/ec/98/0aec9811340e7afc9b205823ad2f1b04.jpg"/>
When you reach the room, you don't see Sarah.
You're starting to freak out a little bit. You call out her name. The uncomfortable silence returns.
//"AHHH"//
Sarah jumps out from behind the passage doorway.
//"Ahahahaha, Oh my God! The look on your face! Ahahahahahaha I got you good! Oh come on Alex, don't be mad. Relax!"//
You are justifiably irritated.
//"Come on, let's go back downstairs. It's getting late anyway and we should start thinking about [[getting some rest]]"////"Are you sure, Alex? It's nearly 9:30, kids aren't normally out that late, especially this far from the town"//
You explain that you're sure. The girl was maybe 6 or 7, had long, dark messy hair and was wearing a white summer dress.
//"It sounds like she might be lost-- if we see her again we should offer to help her. Hopefully she just went home."//
You both deside to set up your sleeping bags downstairs in the living room and begin to think about [[getting some rest]]<img src= "http://mocosubmit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/life-long-gone.jpg"/>
//"I feel like this is the only room on the main floor that isn't cluttered or totally gross"//
You end up passing out around 11:30 but wake up to the sound of slow, loud foot steps. You wake slowly and turn towards Sarah only to see that she is not there. She's not in the room at all, in fact.
Do you [[go look for Sarah]] or [[try to go back to sleep]]??You call out Sarah's name multiple times as you search each room.
She's not in the kitchen.
She's not in the dining room.
You check the den. It's pitch black.
You hear someone giggling.
//"Sarah?"// you call out.
You hear movement behide you.
//"Sarah, This isn't funny. It's 2am. I'm tired. Cut the crap"//
You hear more shuffling from your left now and then, silece.
You feel a cold hand clasp your ankle.
[[You scream]]
A few minutes later, you hear foot steps coming from outside the room.
You turn towards the door and see a figure standing in the doorway when you open your eyes.
<img src="http://backpackersverse.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/20141006/the-ghost-of-a-woman-holds-a-knife-but-only-kids-can-see-her.jpg">
You close your eyes and don't move.
//It's just a dream//.
You keep your eyes closed and [[hold your breath]]
//"HOLY CRAP RELAX IT'S JUST ME!"//
You look down and see Sarah with a huge grin on her face.
"//I literally left the room for like 30 seconds before you started to freak out looking for me, I couldn't not mess with you!//"
You ask why she was up in the first place.
"I had to pee! Sorry I didn't know I had to ask permission, ya big chicken"
You're passed the point of being irritated. It's 2 in the morning, you're tired, you feel like you just had a heart attack and this favour is soo not worth the 200 bucks.
[[You leave]]You pack up all of your things and head home. You go to bed and don't think much about leaving Sarah in that creepy, old house by herself.
A few days go by and you don't hear from Sarah. To this day you still don't know if she just blocked you on social media or if she actually went missing. You don't like to think about it. You feel someone hovering over you. You're not sure who or what it is. You can't feel them breathing on you, but you sense their presence.
Do you [[open your eyes]]?<img src= "http://scaredyet.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/creepy-child-1.jpg">
OH HAI DER! WILL YOU BE MA ~FRRIIEEND~
You feel a warm tingling sensation on your neck.
You regret picking up that knife. <img src= "https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/02/5d/75/23/creepy-basement.jpg"/>
You reach the bottom of the stairs and see two doorways. There's not much down here, and it is very cold compared to the rest of the house, and also very quite. Something feels off. You feel very unwelcome here. Suddenly, you feel the hairs on the back of your neck beginning to stand on end. It feels like someone is directly behind you.
You call upstairs to Sarah and tell her you're coming back up.
You run up the stairs and close the door behind you.
Sarah laughs at you.
//"Come on, let's go [[set up the sleeping bags]]"////"Come on ya big baby"// Sarah says as she sprints down the stairs.
You hesisitate. Something doesn't feel quite right about going down. None-the-less, you proceed down the stairs with caution until you see a large space with two doorways
<img src= "https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/02/5d/75/23/creepy-basement.jpg"/>
//"Sarah?"//, you call out.
Which doorway do you think she went through?
[[Door 1]] or [[Door 2]]<img src= "https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/18/cc/a0/18cca093697177ea0b8526cb796ceba9.jpg"/>
//"The dining room is probably the cleanest out of all the rooms, so I thought we'd sleep here"//
You explain to Sarah that you got a really bad vibe from the basement and maybe staying the night isn't such a good idea.
//"Oh come on Alex. It's just one night. I know it's a stupid bet, but it's an easy 200 bucks. Plus, it's not like we have to brave it alone"//
Do you try to [[get out]] or will you [[stay the night]]?You and Sarah have now settled into your sleeping bags. You and Sarah end up talking until around 1am before you finally drift off to sleep.
You wake up suddenly to the sound of a door slamming. You check your watch and it's 3:15.
You turn around to get more comfortable and notice that Sarah is not in her sleeping bag.
Do you [[go back to sleep]] or [[go find Sarah]]?<img src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xTl4hbbZ4xs/hqdefault.jpg">
You come out of the living room and discover the basment door has been pushed open.
You hear footsteps behind you.
//"Alex?"//
You turn around and you see Sarah
//Oh thank God//
She convinces you to lock the basement door and [[stay the night]]SUCCESS! You manage to break the window and escape from the house.
You run home and while you feel guilty about leaving Sarah behind, you were terrified. You tried to go back for her the next morning, but she was no where to be found.
To this day you still don't know if she just blocked you on social media or if she actually went missing. You don't like to think about it. You manage to go back to sleep. You're sure you hear other things go bump in the night, but you refuse to acknowledge them.
You wake up at dawn, but it looks like Sarah got up before you, or never came back to the living room.
Do you [[look for Sarah]] or [[leave]]?You throw on a sweater and begin calling out for Sarah.
You check the kitchen.
You check the living room.
You check upstairs.
You can't find Sarah and she isn't responding to your calls. You hear a door slam again. You feel nauseous. Despite locking the basement door, you know where the sound is coming from.
[[Go to the basement]]<img src="http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/03/29/e2/d1/edgar-allan-poe-national.jpg"/>
You feel very claustrophobic in this room, like you can't breathe. It's very cold. For some reason you feel like you can't move. It's crazy, but while you don't hear anything, you feel something telling you
''Get out. You're not welcome here''.
You suddenly feel a cold hand gripping tightly on your shoulder. The only thing you can do is [[turn around]]<img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/34/de/ac/34deac48b2133f1e5d7b9b4b9b884ac2.jpg">
Yeah. That's not Sarah.
"//Ahh. Hey. Sorry, I didn't realize anyone else was down here.//"
The girl contines to silently look you you.
"//I was just looking for my friend//"
The girl continues to stare at you. You feel very uncomfortable.
You turn around and return to the [[previous room]]<img src= "https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/02/5d/75/23/creepy-basement.jpg"/>
You're sort of affraid to turn around, but thankfully you see Sarah standing by the stairs.
You explain how you saw this really weird girl in the room you just came out of and that you should probably leave.
//"Really? Hold on lemme look"//
Sarah goes and investigates the second room. She comes back laughing.
//"You got me good Alex! I really thought I was going to see something there"//
You go back to check and sure enough, there's no one there...
You go back upstairs and [[set up the sleeping bags]] in the living room. //"Hey, are you okay Alex?"//
It's just Sarah. You've never felt so relieved.
You tell her that you're feeling unwell and want to go upstairs.
She helps you up the stairs and suggests you [[set up the sleeping bags]] and turn in for the evening.
<img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/48/3d/4a/483d4a7cc9b9b43d92dad6f532f446d5.jpg">
You go to close the basement door when you see a face through the darkness.
You shut the door and run. As you're running away you hear heavy footsteps followed by loud banging on the basement door.
//"ALEX! HELP"//
You see Sarah trying to open the front door.
[[Try to open the front door]] or find [[another way]]You keep trying the door, but it won't open. By the time you realize that there might be another way out, the house begins to shake violently. You foolishly look behind you and see the face from the basement.
<img src="http://theathleticnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Best-Movie-Ghosts-Demons-Dead-Silence-Mary-Shaw.jpg"/>
''You dare try to escape me? You're mine now''
You witness the demon devour Sarah's soul. The last thing you see is Sarah's body lifelessly lying on the floor next to you. Her eyes say //I'm so sorry//.
You regret coming to this house. You regret finding that key. You remember that there is a large window in the living room that both you and Sarah could fit though.
//"There isn't time!"// You yell. You take Sarah by the hand and lead her the the living room.
<img src= "http://mocosubmit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/life-long-gone.jpg"/>
You manage to open the window, but it immediately slams shut as you try to escape.
try [[breaking the window]]SUCCESS!
The window breaks and you and Sarah escape. You run as fast as you can, leaving the house behind.
It's been 20 years. You and Sarah are still together, but never speak of that night. You find Sarah standing in front of the basement door. She is completely motionless. It almost looks like she slept upright in front of the door all night.
//"Sarah?"//
She whips her head suddenly toward you.
''Hello Alex. Shall we go?''
You nodd your head.
''Oh. I'll take that key you found. As a keepsake''
Sarah takes the key from you and you both leave the house.
You haven't seen her since that day, and that was 20 years ago. Something tells you that you shouldn't have given up the key so easily. You think you might have let something free that day that should have remained trapped.
You pack your things and head home.
A few days go by and you don't hear from Sarah. To this day you still don't know if she just blocked you on social media or if she actually went missing. You still have the key somewhere in a box that you never look in. You don't like to think about it.
