Like any other day you start off by watching the the small stream of bubbles escape your mouth and float up to the surface. But today was different... something in your heart was telling you to move your butt.
[[Decide to do it another day]]
[[Swim]]
You swim a good distance until you see a few sites that catch your attention. You stop your mindless swimming to take a look at them.
A [[Submarine]] with a couple of its windows broken in lays abandoned on the sand. Half of it is sticking out while the other lays buried deep.
The [[Lush foliage]] catches your eye. Its a beautiful array of deep green long grass of different shades. It would make for an excellent snack but you aren't feeling up for any vegetation... However you do know the female goldies like to hang out there. It might be worth popping in.
A grand [[Castle]] lays not too far. Algae is slowly creeping in on the massive structure. It stands, looming over your tiny frame and you can't help but wonder what secrets might be held inside...
You feel an intense aura of fustration coming towards you and you look to your left to see an angry [[Puffer fish]]. Perhaps ol'puffy needs a hand with something.
You stand in front of the decaying castle. You can imagine that it had once been beautiful but abandonment allowed nature to design it as her own. Now it stood as a relic of a forgotten time. The scary aura it emitted didn't stop your need to find out if it protected any secrets.
Swimming inside you find the entrance of what might have been a ballroom to your right. To the left of a lever could be seen but you had no idea what it opened.
[[Go inside the room]]
[[Lever]] You swim towards the familiar foliage. The tips of the grasses tickling your belly. This underwater forest of green is an active spot for all fish. This is where you grew up the minuet you hatched. You fondly remembered the tetras you used to chase hoping to nip at least one of them to no avial.
You didn't come here to reminisce on the past or to chomp down on the vegetation. You were hoping to come socialize with other of your kind.
You look around but don't see anyone. Odd. Usually the other goldfishes could be seen around here tearing up roots...
[[Thats when you noticed it]]
Swimming closer the submarine seems to have recently crashed. No algae is covering any part. Under the light drifting in the clean surfaces seem to shine a healthy glow. You wonder if it was abandoned recently... and maybe the deserters left some stuff behind...
[[Try to go inside]]
You decide to just leave it be. [[Swim]] You give him your full attention as he comes swimming closer and you notice he is quite furious. His inflatable body increasing and decreasing its swell quickly.
[[Approach him]] and ask him what is up
[[Let him pass by]] as it is probably best to let him solve his own problems
You decide to give the angry puffer a helping fin in whatever is toubling him.
He quickly swims by, not allowing you to say something so you quickly swim to catch up with him. Putting your best smile and fin forward you go to give him a friendly tap on the shoulder.
[[And catch him immediantly off guard]]As much as you have a good heart and enjoy helping other fishes you decide to not bother the angry puffer. He seems to into his woes to notice anything or anyone, and the last thing you want is to surprise a puffer fish. Those spikey balls can kill!
You let him pass in all his angry huffing, puffing glory and decide to look around for anything else interesting.
You notice the crashed [[Submarine]] shining in the sunlight.
Leave them be too and [[Swim]] away.
You swim over and decide to pull the lever. At first it doesn't do anything and you wonder if it was simply a gag or perhaps a broken mechanism. Ah well... it was worth a try.
Go back and [[Go inside the room]]
[[Wait for a bit longer]]You didn't make a plan but you also didn't have time. Without another thought you tried to swim as fast as you could away from the looming paw and it's devious, starving owner.
With all your might you pushed onward. If you could only make it to the castle, or behind the large pile of rocks you would be safe from capture!
[[But your efforts weren't enough...]]
You knew you were taking a big risk. As an adult the grass wasn't enough to completely cover you. Your back would be exposed to the hungry beast. But you convince yourself that there was not enough time to swim away and find a bettter hiding spot.
So you bunkered into the soft grass.
And watch in fear as the paw hovered back and forth. Praying to every fish god you knew to get you through this alive.
[[The paw stops right above your location]]
You couldn't help your curiosity! Without another thought you try to squeeze yourself into a busted window which you believed would be big enough for you. Your imagination going wild to what this submarine was carrying became a driving force...
...until you realize that you weren't moving anymore...
You were stuck...and no amount of curiosity driven passion could get you unstuck. You flail your whole body, fins and tail flying everywhere trying to get unstuck but you got no where.
Hopefully some fishy will pass by sometime and get your pudgy butt unstuck... you realize you should really hold back on the duckweed...
You know you couldn't just leave her there as a helpless snack for the fiend but you also weren't dumb enough to go in defenseless yourself.
You frantically look around your surroundings for anything that could help.
A glimmer caught your eye.
Right beside you, half sticking out of the gravel was a jagged peice of stone the size of your fin. The bit of light trickling through the ripples caught the point of the stone. Without laying a fin on it you knew this would pierce skin.
Gently you picked up the weapon with your mouth and faced the battle.
[[Rush at the paw with the sharp rock]]
[[Push the female away]] Seeing her in so much distress sparked a fire inside of you. You had to save her from such a terrible fate. Even with no weapon except yourself.
Mustering all your strentgh you charge into the fray. You slam headfirst into the cat's furry paw, knocking the distressed veiltail away and into the saftey of some kelp. She turns back to look at you and gives you a thankful nod before swimming off fantically.
Your heroic deeds couldn't be savored as you are imediantly knocked out cold by the paw. With no real injuries sustained the cat went in to try again, and with taking the place of the veiltail you were a perfect target.
You had the best of intentions and charged in headstrong...
[[But your efforts weren't enough...]] With your newly found weapon you charged at full speed towards the paw and aimed straight towards it.
Imagining the stone cutting skin and being lodged deep into the fiend's own, and giving you ample time for you and her to swim away safetly. The cat would meow in pain and would run away to lick the wounds. Leaving you a glorious victory, the shower of praise from every fish and crustacean in the tank and the girl to remember the event.
At least that is how it would have ended.
Had you not been thinking too much ahead, ended up being distracted by those thoughts and completely missed the target and slammed into the veiltail. Leaving her free but with a large stone jammed into her lower abdomen and you out in the open for the hungry cat...
You had the weapon and the plan... [[But your efforts weren't enough...]] Taking in the situation one more time gave you enough clarity to form a plan that you knew was going to work.
You rush straight into the fray, weapon held tightly between your lips. Going straight at the paw without hesitation. It looked like you were going straight in for the kill.
However, as soon as the cat noticed you swimming in from the side it tried to swat at you.
[[Antipating this you dodged the attack.]]
You swim inside the room and shiver from the sudden drop in the temperature. You look around the ageing ballroom. The mosiac flooring mising many peices and most of the ceiling high windows are caked in muk.
You look at the chandelier. From the looks of it, it must have been a beautiful centerpiece for the room with its grand size and intricate design. Now it laws almost broken, swinging dilapitated and clearly showing signs of decay.
In your thoughts of how such a beautiful place could have fallen into such a disgrace you accidently knock over a picture. Well, at least you though it knocked over but surprisingly it remained on the wall. Just tilted more to the right.
However, you notice a loud click as the picture fell back in place...
[[...and realized too late what it meant.]]
A dark figure hovered above, casting a shadow over the land. The rippling on the surface caused by the filter made identifying the figure hard but you didn't need to guess. You already knew what it was and what it wanted.
It was the cat.
And it was hungry.
You can feel your heart beating so fast you were worried it might burst out of your chest! But you had to move, you were right out in the open. Act fast before the demon lays eyes on you!
[[Try to swim away fast]]
[[Hide among the foliage]] The last thing you see is the demon's claws reaching out with lighting speed and grabbing you straight from your home.
The pain in your lungs is excruciating as you force yourself to breathe, but nothing comes and you are left struggling with pain and fear as you see the face of the beast. Its green eyes, the size of your own body staring at you with glee. The mouth opens to reveal sharp fangs that quickly sink into you. You can feel your skin tearing apart, every bone breaking and the blood rushing out of you. How you wish you could have died quicker by suffucation but at least the demon did not prolong your toture.
Your vision begins to become blurry. The only thing you hear as you black out is the hungry slurps of the monster eating you and the slowing beats of your dying heart...Your heart stops.
You can't shut your eyes so instead you bury your head into the grass.
Your hear the terrifying sound of the water being disrupted by a solid object.
[[...]]You hear a thrashing but you certainly don't feel like you are in one. You take a sigh of relief.
The cat didn't get you.
But that relief instantly goes away when you lift your head.
The cat certainly didn't get you.
But it was very close to getting a helpless veiltail goldie. With her flowing tail and fins she couldn't escape quick enough and was playing a dangerous game of tug of war with her life. The cat had a claw stuck on her tail and had almost ripped through but it was stuck at the very last bit.
You could see in her eyes that she was terrified.
She knew she was at death's door and was trying to fight with everything she got.
[[Rush in and save her]]
[[Look around]]
Save your own scales and swim away to the [[Castle]] And pushed her with enough force that the last bit of her tail the cat's claw was stuck to ripped through and she fell into the soft kelp below.
Quickly getting up and taking in her surroundings she looked back at you, gave you a nod of thanks and swam quickly away.
But you weren't going to savour the victory yet...
[[You had someone waiting for you.]]
The cat, becoming fustrated that it's prey got away, successfully grabbed you but you planned that all along.
As you feel the furry, clawed fingers tighten you took your chance and stabbed one of them with the stone. Pushing hard to make sure the stone wedged itself deep within.
Your efforts paid off as you are immediantly let go and hear the cat meowing in pain. With a wide smile driven by pure glee and adrenaline you watch as the cat rips its paw out of the water and dahses away.
Well, you bet that cat won't be bothering any fish for a very, very long time.
[[You could hear movement from behind you]]Turning around you are welcomed wth a happy sight!
Every fish, from the grumpy puffer to the hyper neon tetras are all rejoicing at your heroic deed. Pats on the back are a plenty and the veiltail you saved swayed forward and gave you a loving rub with her head before swimming to be by your side.
Every crab and shrimp carried out the freshest food from their horde for you as gifts. The crayfish produced a happy tune with their claws.
The whole tank was in a celebration.
Guess it was a good thing you decided to move you fish butt today. The doors to the ballroom suddenly close and lock you in!
You hurridly swim to the doors and try to force them open by slamming yourself on them.
But it was no use.
You were trapped.
Forever.
Unless some other fish came along to discover this castle like you... but who knows how long that would be...
In utter defeat you let yourself float down to the dirty floor. It seams that you'd would just be another aging relic of this ancient castle to keep a secret. You decide to wait a bit longer, the mechanism were old so it would take time for them to work right?
[[Wait more]]
Abandon it and [[Go inside the room]]
You start to think you are simple wasting time...
[[Wait a couple of minuets more]]
Go with your thoughts and leave to [[Go inside the room]] Yeah. You were definitely bamboozled. The stupid lever doesn't work.
You curse yourself.
Who puts a lever in the middle of a hallway anyway!?
[[Go inside the room]]
Leave this decaying relic and [[Swim]] awayAh whatever... today you just wanted to be a lazy fish and continue blowing bubbles in your lonesome.
Adventure can wait until you're ready. But napping and bubbleboxing first.
Which for a puffer...
is [[never good news...]]The angry puffer was so lost in his own problems that your light tap immediantly scares him and he puffs up immediantly.
Spikes laced with poisonous venom shoot out in all directions.
And unfortunatly... one of them pricks you.
The damage is already done. As you feel your body start to become numb from the poison and your organs slowing down the last thing you see as your vision becomes hazy is the most regretful fish in history.
Guess ol'angry puffer has an extra thing to worry about on his plate now.
