The Wiseman & the Wolf follows the life of a young lad named Thomas Crown who lives in Manchester England around 1891. Thomas lives with his parents who own a pub, which offers breakfast lunch and dinner with its many beers and ales. The Crowns are fairly well off because the pub has many patrons who are fairly well to do frequent it daily.\n\nThomas is 14 years old and he must choose either to work in the pub or stay-at-home.\n\n[[Thomas stays at home]]\n\n[[Thomas works in the pub]]
Choice one: he turn around and leaves to go back to his quiet life. \n\n[[Thomas decides to stay at home and work in his parents' pub]]\n\n[[Choice two|Thomas's second choice]]
Thomas accepts the gold coin. He turns the piece over in his fingers, examining the soft Spanish patterns cut into it. His heart starts to pound, as he's never held such a wage. The pirate grins as he watches Thomas stare at the lustrous metal bit. In the boy's mind he's on a beach digging a pit. Pirates surround the opening and watch as Thomas tirelessly bores downward until they hear a thunk. Within minutes, Thomas superhumanly pushes a large, chain-covered chest out of the hole, and climbs out. The Pirates cheer as the boy kicks at the rusted chains until they break, and the drunk spills its treasures on the sand. It's a mighty hall gold artifacts and double blooms. Captain McBain is there and places a hand on his shoulder. \n\n“Yer the best digger I've ever seen, Thomas Crown. Come, let's celebrate on the Sea Hag. You earned a man's share of this loot!” Thomas snaps out of his reverie. “You have to take me with you!” he says. \n\n[[The wily old pirate's choices]]
Choice two: he had made up his mind. He was getting on that ship. The coin suddenly gave him the courage. His steps became lite and he moves quickly.\n\nStanding before the massive ship Thomas fingered the coins again, this time closing his eyes and feeling their call. They were magic and while he didn't know how they did what they did, he enjoyed the feeling. Pictures of great adventures that waited for him flashed in front of his eyes. Treasures, which he couldn't yet put a name to, flashed in front of his eyes, great battles in victory, soared through his mind.\n\nIt happened this way before, when he used the coins but now it was so much richer and more detailed. He was getting better at it. In back of Thomas his mind he did question the validity of the visions. 1. Were they real or they just his dreams tapped by the coins and shown back to him? He didn't know what kind of magic birth the coins whether good or evil. Perhaps he wasn't being shown the future? He wasn't sure. He decided though, that he was ready. Thomas took a huge breath and concentrated just a bit harder. To any observer watching him, the man that stood in front of them, disappeared, to Thomas he took the final steps in securing him on board mastership and into dreams.\n\n[[Thomas boards the Sea Hag]]

Thomas refuses the gold coins. He turns the piece over in his fingers, examining the soft Spanish patterns cut into it. Although this would help his family immensely, he knows he's not allowed to accept gifts from visitors to the pub. Most of them are drunk when they give things away, and might not remember being so generous. \n\n“I can't accept the charity, sir. Me mom will have me at the switch,” says Thomas handing back the coin.\n\nThe parts beard splits into a grin. He nods and takes a drink from his tankard of ale, and then wipes his mouth on sleeve of his brown waistcoat. “Your mother raised well, lad. Perhaps you make a good addition to his majesties Royal Navy,” he says. “Farewell to you, young servant.” He grabs his tricorn hat, presses it down onto moppy, bandanna covered head, and leaves. Thomas finds himself without explanation on board the Sea Hag with sailors scurrying all about him. He quickly goes below deck on the Sea Hag to find a place to hide and stowaway unnoticed by the crew. 48 hours later Thomas realizes that he cannot stay below deck on the long voyage. He discovers he must go above deck and see what's going on. His adventures on the ship have two possible outcomes. \n\nOutcome one: Thomas is caught below deck of the pirate ship.\n\nThe Wily Old Seaman: well if it isn't the young tavern boy who loves my stories.
