You are a doctor in the city of Healthopolice. You have graduated from the Medical School of Healthopolice and are ready to begin your budding career as a healer. You have been trained in three key principles as a healer: (1) to treat patients in a time-efficient manner; there are only so many healers in Healthopolice and always many more patients than doctors available (2) to please the patient and (3) to please the Health Police. You also have a humanoid assistant: the auto-med-nurse who often knows best. Listen wisely.
Ok, you now have requests from three potential patients. Quick, you don't have too much time in the busy busy world of Healthopolice -- choose one to examine before time's up: [[Mary]], a 15 year old girl who needs a routine check up; [[Joe]], a 40 year old man suffering from chronic back pain; and
[[Angie]], a 30 year old woman with a cold.

Mary walks into her appointment. Since it's a routine check up, you're allotted only 15 min to converse with Mary. The auto-med-nurse has prefilled information about Mary's medical history and suggests you start by asking her about her tenuous relationship with her divorced parents. You take a look at the suggestions and decide to: [[obey]] the auto-med-nurse -- it always knows what's best or [[open with a more anodyne conversation]] -- you want to warm Mary up.
(display: "Timer")
(set: $timer to 5)
<div> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/IYUHVRz.jpg" width="256" height="256"> </div>
Because the HPolice expect chronic pain sufferers to always have chronic pain, the appointment for Joe is quite short -- a brief 10 minutes. Joe walks in, clutching his back and groaning. The auto-med-nurse suggests you offer Joe (1) [[painkillers]] (2) a [[physical therapy]] appointment or (3) a [[wheelchair]]. You just go with the auto-med-nurse options as you're so low on time.
(display: "Timer")
(set: $timer to 6)
<div> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/IYUHVRz.jpg" width="256" height="256"> </div>
Angie walks in with a cold. Because the HPolice is always afraid a cold could be more than just a cold -- for instance, a population-ending disease -- it lets you have 25 minutes with Angie. You begin with the only way any cold appointment can begin -- running every single virus and bacteria [[detection test]] on Angie.
(display: "Timer")
(set: $timer to 10)
You see your Healthopolice wristband that you know the HPolice uses to quality-monitor your care glow; you're getting 5/5 stars for this part of the treatment. Mary, though, looks shocked and responds, "Um, I don't know, I don't really want to talk about that now, I'm here for a physical check up." The auto-med-nurse suggests you tell Mary that (1) [[emotional and mental health]] matters -- she is currently experiencing a check-in on that (2) [[apologize]] and start measuring her heart-rate instead or (3) [[call the HPolice]] for advice.
(display: "Timer")
(set: $timer to 10)
Mary opens up and begins chatting about school, her friends, and life. You enjoy the discussion but just as you are about the bring up her parents you're out of time -- the 15 min is up. Mary leaves and you look in horror at your physical exam sheet, seeing all the fields are empty. The HPolice auto-lowers your competency rating to 0 out of 5. It'll take a while to build that up again. Maybe you'll do better next time? Choose your next patient: [[Joe]], a 40 year old man suffering from chronic back pain or
[[Angie]], a 30 year old woman with a cold.

Mary rolls her eyes as you begin reading the script provided by the automed nurse on her mental health. Mary responds in one-word syllables, but at the end of the 15 min, you have your appointment sheet completely filled out. Great! Your competency rating is 5/5 and you send Mary on her way. You [[pat yourself on the back]].

You're too scared to bring up mental health again. What if Mary is angered? You'll play it safe. The 15 min is up and you've filled out all the boxes on the physical exam sheet. Mary smiles and leaves. The HPolice auto-rates your competency rating at a respectable 3.5/5. You [[pat yourself on the back]].

The HPolice can't believe you're so incompetent that within the first 5 minutes of a 15 minute routine physical checkup, perhaps the easiest type of appointment any doctor could have, you needed help. "The auto-med-nurse knows best!" shout the HPolice. "You should have just followed her!"
The HPolice puts you in [[DocTimeout]] for a month for further training.

DocTimeout is a strange place. You're in a shapeless room that seems like it could extend forever, and in various unidentifiable locations, you see shadows of presumably other doctors also in timeout. Angie escapes successfully with the drug. You hope your auto-med-nurse hasn't noticed. You proceed onwards with your day, thinking that everything should go as normal. The next day you walk into work and see a memo on your desk -- "Viromania epidemic may be starting. We are seeing two more cases today itself. If anyone comes to you with a cold, pair-treat with another doctor." You suddenly feel guilty. Did your decision to help Angie trigger an outbreak? What if the drug did not really help Angie? What if a new viromania that no drug could cure had developed? You (1) [[writhe nervously]] but go on as normal with your day or (2) [[volunteer to pair]] with another doctor treating a viromania patient.
Congratulations. You have realized that being a healer in Healthopolice is about obedience, obedience, obedience, and obedience. The large structure of rules; the many frameworks already in place; the constant monitoring, the competency ratings and the HPolice all make you but an auto-doctor.
