Sara thinks about what their best choice should be. You guys are really here?”\n\nThey all nod, and Tommy helps Chuck to his feet. “You good, buddy?”\n\n“Yeah, but what's going on? Weren't we playing hide-n-seek? How did I end up on the roof?” Chuck asks.\n\n“No time to explain. Right now we need to find a way outta here!”\n\nThe gang searches frantically, and then Michelle discovers a ladder. “Guys! Over there,” she points.\n\nBut before any of them can move, The Keeper gravitates to the top of the roof, right in front of them. “I will not let you escape. Tommy decides that he needs to know where his friends are, no matter what. He decides to stay with the ghosts for a little while.\n\n“Excellent choice, boy. We shall entertain you for ten minutes!” All the ghosts laugh at Tommy's expense, and Tommy feels hopeless.\n\nAfter ten minutes, the ghosts laugh while Tommy rolls his eyes in the corner. The ghosts thought it would be fun to tell Tommy old jokes from their times, but they never thought that he would find such jokes extremely unfunny. At first, he thought that they would be scary. But maybe he still should have been wary, since they nearly bored him to death.\n\nThe ghost decides to give Tommy Michelle's lipstick. “There's a room in the next corridor that has a portrait of the mistress. She bares resemblance to someone you know. You might find your friend there, or you might find something meaner.” The ghosts in the back laugh again. They start to disappear. “Good luck, boy. You will need it,” the ghost says while laughing, and then they all vanish, leaving Tommy alone.\n\nThe door opens, and a light flickers to the over to another corridor. Tommy runs down it to find the room the ghost was talking about. Then a door creaks open, almost invitingly. Tommy takes that as a sign, and proceeds cautiously.\n\nTommy decides to enter the room to make sure things are clear. The door shuts behind him and no matter how many times he tries to open it, it remains closed.\n\nTommy turns and shines his candle in the room. On the far wall, there is a painting hanging and it's of a beautiful woman. The woman resembles Michelle, which surprises Tommy. \n\nThe painting looks odd. The color of the painting is black and white, except for the woman's lips. Her lips are bright red.\n\nTommy gets closer to the painting and touches it. An old woman with pale gray skin, white hair, and white eyes pop out of the painting, [[frightening.]] Tommy.\n
Tommy unlocks the cabinet above the stove. To his surprise, nothing is there. \n\nLaughter fills the room and ghosts pour out from every corner. They all point and laugh at Tommy's mistake for choosing the wrong cabinet, and Tommy watches in horror as the key disintergrates in his hands.\n\nNow he will never be able to rescue his friend who is locked up.\n\n[Restart this level: [[Choose passageway to the right]]]\n
Tommy decides to go to the passageway to the right. It leads down to a den. When he enters the den, there are cobwebs, spiders and coffins. Chills go down his spine, as he guesses just who this den belongs to.\n\nHis guess comes true when bats fly down from the ceiling, and take human forms revealing the bats to actually be vampires.\n\nThey look hungry for blood with their elongated fangs and their pale white skin. They look at Tommy with thirst and mischief in their eyes.\n\n“You are here to look for your precious blood supplies, aren't you?” one vampire asks.\n\nTommy looks frightened and gulps. He tries to find confidence. “If you're talking about my friends, then yes. Do you know where they are?”\n\nThe vampires chuckle, and the one talking to Tommy licks his finger sinisterly. “Perhaps.”\n\nTommy trembles, but holds his ground. “Can you tell me where they are?”\n\nThe vampires chuckle under their breaths and glide closer to Tommy. The speaker pulls something out of his pocket.\n\nTommy recognizes it. It's the candy wrapper to Jeff's favorite candy. “That belongs to my friend!”\n\nThe vampire takes the wrapper and sniffs it. “Ah, yes. The one who's type AB. Intoxicating aroma that one.”\n\n“Can you please tell me where he is?” Tommy begs.\n\nThe vampire smiles. “And what's in it for us? I could possibly think about helping you if… you let us scare you to pieces!”\n\nTommy doesn't understand the vampire, and he also doesn't want to get scared to pieces, but he does want to find Jeff. Tommy unlocks the cabinet under the island. Jeff is squished inside, and Tommy helps him get out. \n\nJeff coughs and breathes heavily. “Oh, my… I thought I was a goner. Five more minutes and I swear I would have run out of oxygen.” He pats Tommy on the shoulder. “Good looks. Thanks for saving me.”\n\n“Of course. Glad I got here in time,” Tommy replies. \n\n“What the hell is going on here? One minute we're running in the mansion, and the next thing I'm trapped in a cabinet!” Jeff says in shock and curiosity.\n\nTommy gets up and helps Jeff to his feet. The kitchen is silent. No more whispers or murmurs. No more rattling of the pots and pans. No more psycho fridge. Tommy looks down at his hands and sees the dust from the key after it disintegrated. \n\nHe dusts off his hands, grabs a couple water bottles from the fridge and leaves the kitchen with Jeff following. “I'll tell you what's going on, but let's leave here as quickly as possible,” he says to Jeff. [[And they do]].\n
Tommy chooses to dance with the old lady, not wanting to put his lips on her nasty looking skin. \n\nThey dance for what seems like five minutes, and all she does is hum.\n\n“Where's my friend?” Tommy asks.\n\nThe woman laughs and leans closer to Tommy. “They say that a kiss from the Prince can break any spell. Maybe you should have kissed me. He doesn't want to be here, but he made a bet with his friends last Halloween.\n\nFlashback:\n“Next year, lets all go to the abandoned mansion in the woods and play a game,” said Jeff.\n\n“Sounds like fun. I'm down,” Rafiq approved.\n\n“But what kind of game?” asked Sara.\n\n“How about ultimate hide-n-seek?” Chuck suggested.\n\n“Oh yeah! That sounds like fun! We should do it!” chanted Michelle. - End of flashback.\n\nWhy did Tommy agree too? He kept asking himself that question, while walking towards his awaiting friends at the gate.\n\n“Good, now everybody's here,” Chuck announces. “Okay. Now the only fair way I thought of picking who's gonna be it is if we pull straws. Whoever gets the short one loses and is the seeker.”\n\nEveryone agrees to Chuck's plan, and one buy one they all pull a straw.\n\n[[Pick a Straw]]\n
You are entering a text-based game where every choice has an outcome. Certain choices might make the character scared beyond reason, in which a Scare Meter will activate. The Scare Meter lets you know how badly Tommy is scared on a scale from 1-10; 1 meaning not scared at all, and 10 meaning the Scare Meter is maxed out. Tommy will be too scared to continue and will run away. Some choices that you make can either increase the Scare Meter or decrease it. \n\nAlso, be careful of the time. You need to be out of the mansion by midnight and there are some choices that might hinder you. [[Get Started]]\n

They're okay, but now they have to figure out how to get out of the hole. \n\nJeff decides to boost Tommy up, and Sara agrees so that he can go and investigate behind the statue. “Just promise me you'll come back for us before the zombies do.”\n\nTommy agrees, and Jeff boosts him out of the hole. \n\n[[`Investigate the statue]]\n

Tommy takes two minutes to open three cans, and the last one reveals a key and a note! The note reads: THIS KEY IS SPECIAL. ONCE IT'S USED, IT DISINTEGRATES. Tommy decides that maybe the fastest way to free Rafiq would be to use the flame from his candle. The only problem is that he risks the flame going out. \n\nWithout hesitation, he burns the ropes, freeing Rafiq. His friend is weak, but not as weak as he could have been if Tommy took longer to find him.\n\nThe candle's flame goes out, leaving Tommy bewildered on how he and his friends will have light to see.\n\n“Thanks for saving me,” Rafiq says faintly. “Sorry about the candle.”\n\n“Don't sweat it. Tommy opens the first drawer. Inside he sees knifes and forks, but nothing that would indicate a key. After a minute of searching thoroughly, the drawer slams shut, [[scaring him!]].
Tommy thinks that maybe the moaning sounds are just zombies, and decides to head back to the mansion. \n\nAs he cautiously makes his way through the cemetery, he hears a faint “Help me.” He turns around and tries to locate the voice, but the zombies start to mimic the voice, and now Tommy doesn't know where it's coming from. \n\nHe hears “Help me” again and walks closer to where it might be coming from, but the zombies are relentless in their mimicry.\n\nTommy's gut tightens, and he thinks that maybe the voice is coming from behind the statue after all. Tommy times the fridge door for a minute. He wanted to make sure that he got the doors pattern of opening and closing, and reaches in to retrieve the piece of paper at the right time.\n\nBefore the door had a chance to close and crush his hand again, he grabs the paper and pulls out. \n\nThe message on the paper reads: IN THE DRAWER, YOU WILL FIND THE KEY THAT LEADS TO “THE KEY”. His skin is pale and cold to the touch.\n\nThe ropes tying Rafiq down are too strong for Tommy to break, so he has to figure out something.\n\n[[Use candle flame]]\n[[Go search for something sharp]]\n
Tommy finishes counting and huffs a sigh of nerves. The loneliness of being outside in the dark gets to him, so he sneaks through the gate and runs to the mansion. The mansion doors are open, but inside is extremely dark. Tommy is scared, but his friends were hiding and he would be lame if he turned back and left. With slight hesitation, he enters the mansion and walks into the foyer.\n\nBehind him, the doors slam shut! Tommy whirls to see what's going on, and the sudden noise makes his heartbeat increase. Suddenly, candle lights flicker on one by one. Tommy looks at the candles lighting up around him, and as he follows the flares, he spots someone standing in front of him in the foyer.\n\nThe man in front of Tommy is wearing a black and white tuxedo. His hair is ash white, and his skin is as pale as the moon. He is tall and he looks old. But what freaks Tommy out the most is the man's red glowing eyes.\n\nTommy wants to run, but before he can, the man speaks. “You do not belong here. And neither does your friends. As of right now, they are in grave danger.”\n\nTommy pauses from bolting, and stares at the man with wide eyes. “What? How'd you know my friends?”\n\n“I am The Keeper of this dwelling. It is my job to know everything. And as for your friends, I am afraid it is too late.”\n\n“What do you mean?” Tommy says desperately.\n\nThe Keeper grins. “You see, this mansion is not an ordinary mansion. Every Halloween, it is plagued with the creatures of the night. They roam free, looking for fresh flesh to play with. Your friends fell into their hands.”\n\nTommy gulps and sweat drops from his forehead. \n\nThe Keeper continues. “Come midnight, this mansion will turn back to its abandoned state, but if you or your friends are not gone by then, you all shall perish and forever become a part of this dwelling. But if you can find them all and escape before then, there might be hope. But I think that is impossible. It is already 11:09. What will you do?”\n\n[[Choose to find friends]]\n[[Choose to run away]]
Tommy decides that maybe the fastest way to free Rafiq would be to use the flame from his candle. The only problem is that he risks the flame going out. \n\nWithout hesitation, he burns the ropes, freeing Rafiq. His friend is weak, but Tommy and Jeff manage to support his weight.\n\nThe candle's flame goes out, leaving Tommy bewildered on how he and his friends will have light to see.\n\n“Thanks for saving me,” Rafiq says faintly. “Sorry about the candle.”\n\n“Don't sweat it. Glad you're safe,” Tommy replies. The four of them begin to cautiously move out of the cemetery.\n\n“Remember the firecrackers we set off earlier? Check my pocket. I might have some matches left from then.”\n\n[[`Check Rafiq's pockets]]\n
Tommy doesn't want to risk being scared, and declines the vampires' offer. \n\n“Too bad. Your friends' blood may never leave this mansion without our help,” says the vampire with the candy wrapper. All the vampires turn to bats and leave through the den's window.\n\nTommy is alone. He decides to head to another passageway.\n\n[[Choose passageway in the center]]\n[[Choose passageway to the left]]\n
The first can that he opens is the can with a key! The can also has another note: THIS KEY IS SPECIAL. ONCE IT'S USED, IT DISINTEGRATES. Tommy takes five minutes to open all five cans. The fifth can has a key and a note inside! Tommy opens the note and reads it: THIS KEY IS SPECIAL. ONCE IT'S USED, IT DISINTEGRATES. Tommy kneels on the floor and clutches his heart through his shirt.\n\nThe announcer talks again. “Can you not even answer one simple hint? I think you like danger kid. Tommy thinks that maybe the moaning sounds are just zombies, and decides to head back to the mansion. \n\nAs he and Sara cautiously make their way through the cemetery, they hear a faint “Help me.” They turn around and try to locate the voice, but the zombies start to mimic the voice, and now Tommy doesn't know where it's coming from. \n\nThey hear “Help me” again and walk closer to where it might be coming from, but the zombies are relentless in their mimicry. \n\nTommy's gut tightens, and he thinks that maybe the voice is coming from behind the statue after all. Tommy feels disgusted at the thought of kissing this ghastly looking old lady, but if it would save his friend, so be it.\n\nThe old hag puckers up, and before Tommy vomits, he pecks her on the lips. His Disgust Meter goes up.\n\nThe old lady laughs and then starts humming the tune from earlier. She goes to the portrait and touches it. “Such lovely youth. Oh, to be young again, but I should release her from such a cursed body,” she looks at Tommy with sad, old eyes.\n\nTo Tommy's shock, the old lady starts changing her appearance, and she gets younger and younger right before his eyes. After her transformation, the old woman is revealed to be Michelle. \n\nShe collapses on the floor and Tommy rushes to her. The room door opens and his friends from outside rush into the room to his side. \n\n“I knew it was Michelle,” Jeff said.\n\nMichelle opens her eyes and stares at everyone. “What's going on?”\n\n“Are you okay?” Tommy asks. After Michelle nods her head, he helps her to her feet. “I'll explain as we move to find Chuck. we don't have time.” It took five minutes to find and save Michelle. Tommy looks at his [[watch]].\n
Tommy opens three cans in two minutes. The last can reveals a key and a note! The note reads: THIS KEY IS SPECIAL. ONCE IT'S USED, IT DISINTEGRATES. Tommy needs to find Jeff and the rest of his friends no matter what, so he decides to agree to be scared by the vampires.\n\n“Will this hurt?” he asks nervously.\n\n The vampires in the back all grin and chuckle, while licking their lips seductively. The vampire <font color=00BFFF"> in front of Tommy grins as well. “Oh how I wish I could feel your skin and blood as I make you hurt, but since we cannot do physical harm, I will have to seek pleasure otherwise.”\n\n“Pleasure?”\n\nThe vampire smiles widely, showing his full teeth, as the rest of the vampires. “Pleasure in your misery.”\n\n…\n\nSometime later, the vampires stand over a huddled Tommy. He pants and sweats madly, while hugging his knees to his chest. \n\nNever in his life did he image that he could be so scared of vampires without them actually touching him. Tommy decides that maybe the fastest way to free Rafiq would be to use the flame from his candle. His friend is weak, and Tommy has the strain of carrying him back to the hole Sara's in.\n\nThe zombies get wind of them, and Tommy grabs Rafiq and rushes back to Sara and Michelle. Tommy chooses to go left. The passageway ends with a door. Tommy opens the door and enters a room. The room is empty except for a miniature stage. There are no signs of his friends, so Tommy turns to leave. \n\nAbruptly, ghosts fly out of every direction in the room and slam the door shut on Tommy. He's confused and a little scared. The ghosts take forms and crowd Tommy, who inches closer to the door to get away from them.\n\n“You're here to find your friends, aren't you boy?” one ghost asks.\n\nTommy's too scared to speak, so he nods his head.\n\nThe ghosts burst out laughing. “What a riot!” one shouts.\n\n“Is he stupid?” another shouts.\n\n“You'll never find your friends. This place is way too big. Besides, do you even have a clue to where they are?”\n\nTommy shakes his head, knowing that the ghost might be right.\n\nThey snicker again. The one who asked him questions approaches him, flicking something up and catching it in his hand, over and over. “Well, maybe we can help you.” The ghost shows Tommy the object in his hand.\n\nTommy recognizes it. “That's Michelle's lipstick. How did you get it? Where is she?” Tommy demands.\n\n“If anyone should demand anything, it's us. Our help isn't for free, boy.” The ghosts behind start laughing again. \n\n“What do you want?” Tommy asks.\n\nAll the ghosts smirk sinisterly. “We want your company.”\n\nTommy knows that if he stays with the ghosts, time will run out, but if he doesn't take them up on their offer, he may not get another chance to get a clue to his friend's whereabouts.
