A thing done.
[[Who did it?]]
[[With what was it done?]]
[[Where was it done?]]
[[When was it done?]]
[[For what cause was it done?]]
[[What followed upon the doing of it?]]
[[Who would have done it better?]][[A thing done.]]
Who did it?
[[A baby]]
[[A child]]
[[An adult]]
[[A thing done.]]
With what was it done?
[[A knife]]
[[A fork]]
[[A spoon]][[A thing done.]]
Where was it done?
[[On the table]]
[[In the garden]]
[[Away from home]][[A thing done.]]
When was it done?
[[Yesterday]]
[[Today]]
[[Every day]]
[[A thing done.]]
For what cause was it done?
[[To get over it]]
[[To get under it]]
[[To go around it]][[A thing done.]]
What followed upon the doing of it?
[[A sigh]]
[[A burp]]
[[A cough]][[A thing done.]]
Who would have done it better?

THE END
Note: 'A thing done and who did it' references the first written record of a precursor to the parlour game ‘consequences’. In the play 'Cynthia's Revels' written by the english playwright Benjamin Jonson, it was first performed in the year 1600. Similar to the Surrealist drawing game ‘exquisite corpse’ (except with words), participants take turns to write sentences to form a narrative from mulitple perspectives. According to the Oxford Guide to Word Games, the original questions used to prompt players to write and structure a narrative were:
A thing done?
Who did it?
With what was it done?
Where was it done?
When was it done?
For what cause was it done?
What followed upon the doing of it? Who would have done it better?
I attempted to expand this narrative structure within the restraints of Twine. My aim was for each node to form a poem in itself, but the pathway I found most 'meaningful' is how the particpant reaches some sort of end.
