You squeeze your eyes shut so tightly that they hurt. You try and block out the ear-piercing screech of that infernal siren through sheer force of will.\n\nBut it's still there.\n\nYou can't escape it.\n\nDo you [[try a little longer]] or do you [[open one eye|Look around sheepishly]] and sneak a tiny peek around the room?
No such luck. Now what?!\n\n[[Look around sheepishly]]\n[[Crawl into the fetal position under your console]]\n[[Squeeze your eyes shut and hope that the problem goes away]]
Maybe if you [[push it again]] that siren will stop screaming...
Nope.\n\nThe siren continues to wail at that migraine-inducing pitch. Maybe it'll stop if you [[pound it with your fist]].
You probably shouldn't have pushed that [[button]].
You crawl under your console, bring your legs in tight to your chest and shut your eyes fast. You feel scared and alone. You just want things to go back to the way they were a few seconds ago - before you pushed that stupid button.\n\nYou lie, curled there, for what feels like an eternity. Why won't that dumb siren just shut up? Your head pounds from the pain. Why can't things just go back to the way they were?! The screams of your crew-mates fill your head.\n\nThe end comes eventually. Suddenly.\n\nYou feel no pain.
The Button
You subtly glance around the room hoping that no one will notice — hoping that no one will suspect that you are the cause of that miserable siren.\n\nChaos has broken out on the bridge. The planet below is starting to spiral in the forward view-screen — the helmsmen have abandoned their controls. The ship is in free-fall. In fear for their lives, the panic-stricken crew is scrambling back-and-forth across the bridge as they try desperately to get to the lifeboats, trampling anyone who has fallen. Terrified.\n\nGood.\n\nNo one suspects that you pushed the button.
A work of literary genius by Paul Corriveau.
No luck. This is one problem that just isn't going to go away on it's own.\n\n[[Open your eyes|Look around sheepishly]].
