Welcome to Knight's Quest!
This is an interactive adventure set in a fantasy world and inspired by cheesy 90's point and click adventure games!
In the spirit of these games, you will likely die a lot randomly, not always in a fair way, be careful!
There are many branching paths, so you will have to play the game multiple times to see all of the results!
You are a powerful knight about to go on the journey of a lifetime!
Are you ready? [[Yes]]/[[No]]You awaken in a well lit banquet hall surrounded by nobles mid feast. You look to the front of the room and recognize King Magnar sitting on his throne.
[[Continue]]I'll ask again, are you ready? [[Yes]]/[[I said no]]Why would you even start the game if you weren't ready?
You're right, I was just messing around. [[Yes]]
[[Well maybe you should've given me more time to start]]Ok look here buddy, I made this game with my own two hands(and an expensive macbook), instead of being difficult, why not just actually play the game and enjoy it instead of seeing how many different options I made for you to click here?
Alright fine, [[Yes]] I'm ready to play now.
[[Well maybe you shouldn't have made a ton of these extra options for me to click knowing I'd click them?]]Alright, I've had enough of this. You know what? You can't even play the game anymore, I've taken the option away. That's right, I control what you can click. No more Knight's Quest for you. You could've been fighting dragons or fighting bandits in a cave to retrieve piles of gold, but instead you chose to be sassy. I was excited for you to see what I had created for you, but you let me down. Enjoy staring at a plain screen with a wall of text, I'm going to go make a turkey sandwich and watch the Office. The king, looking rather distressed, sighs and looks at you. He stares for a minute then gets up and paces in front of his throne.
Do you [[get up]] or [[stay on the floor]]?The King begins to speak.
"Hello fair knight, I was hoping you would awake soon. I have some [[good news]] and some bad news, you'll want to hear the bad news last since that is where your quest will start."The king begins to speak, but stops when he realizes you're still laying on the floor. "What are you still doing down there knight? Were you raised by peasants who didn't own beds? Get up!"
The nobles all start to laugh as you decide to [[get up]]"On your last mission, your team was ambushed by goblins. You were knocked out cold by one of the little bastards, but your party was able to finish off the rest no sweat. Very few casualties on our side, big victory."
And the [[bad news]]?"It seems my weakling of a son, Prince Byron, has been kidnapped AGAIN by bandits. Thats the third time this month. I would send someone actually experienced, unlike yourself, but all my favorite knights are on duty right now. Can I count on you to rescue Byron?"
[[You can count on me your highness, I won't let you down!]]
[[Listen here buddy, I'm a skilled knight. Just because I lost one fight to a few goblins doesn't mean I'm any less skilled overall than anyone else, I'll have you know that I graduated top of my class...]]The king smiles and claps his hands together.
"Huzzah fair knight, I trust you to rescue Byron from those slimey bandits. There will be a reward in this for you as well, I am willing to give you a fief of 1/10th of an acre of farmland, plus one mule. Now, you should be on your way. Get out of the banquet hall, you smell like dead goblin and your lack of nobility is making me sick. Don't come back until Byron is rescued!"
The king motions to his biggest, scariest guard to throw you out of the banquet hall. He slowly walks up to you and picks you up effortlessly, raising you above his head and carrying you out of the banquet hall into [[the city]].The king interrupts your rant
"Yes yes, I'm sure you're VERY talented or whatever, please just help me out here, it looks bad when a prince gets kidnapped."
[[You can count on me your highness, I won't let you down!]]
[[You know what, no. I might be your knight but you can't just boss me around like this while calling me trash. I'm a human being under this helmet, I have needs and emotio...]]The king starts laughing, causing you to trail off and stop talking. The laugh goes on for a full five minutes, nobles join in and point at you. Eventually, the King stops laughing to wipe a tear out of his eye. He raises his hands to quiet the room.
"SILENCE. Alright knight, this is your last chance to help me. I'm giving you one last opportunity to say yes and find my son, or else I'll have you killed, simple as that!"
[[You can count on me your highness, I won't let you down!]]
[[Well now I'm definitely not going to do it. It is honestly attrocious how awfully you treat your people. In fact, I've never heard of ANYONE with absolute power ever treat their people kindly. I refuse to do anything else for you until you get your shit together and treat us better. I think that everyone in the world should receive equal treatme...]]The king motions to his biggest, scariest guard. The guard pulls out the biggest sword you've ever seen in your life. Its seriously like three times the size of you. I don't even want to explain what happens next, all you need to know is that you died. Better luck next time. You look out into the city and see the three districts that it is composed of.
To your left you see a market district, many well off folks seem to be pedalling their goods. Fish mongers, hunters selling skins, and artists selling paintings and pottery line the street.
Directly ahead of the palace you see the residential district. Closer to the palace you see taller, nicer, more expensive housing that the nobility live in. As you look further down the road, the housing becomes more affordable, you see many working class families grilling meat outside of their homes and drinking cheap beer together. Just after that row of housing, you see the slums. Many poor beggars and a few muggers line the street there.
To your right you see the docks, where many ships come in and out of the city. You remember that this city is the largest port in the area, and that hundreds of ships sail in and out of the port daily.
Where will you go?
[[Left, to the marketplace]]
[[Straight, to the residential district]]
[[Right, to the docks]]You walk through the marketplace until you get to the center, where it opens into a large circle of merchants all selling goods. A few more well constructed stands catch your eye-
A dwarf that sells fish at a large wooden stand. It has multiple walls with large amounts of fresh fish on display for consumers to buy. The dwarf himself is standing on a stool as to not let his long beard touch the ground. "Three fish for three gold! You won't find a better deal in the whole kingdom for fish! Get yours before we run out!" He yells, as many citizens push one another out of the way to get to the front of the line.
A half-orc blacksmith is set up on the edge of the circle in front of his own workshop. He has a few tables with many swords, hammers, axes, daggers, maces, you name it laying out for purchase. Behind his counter he has a few muskets and flintlock pistols for sale, a recent invention created by the king's engineers. "Get yer weapons here lads and lasses, sharpest swords and dullest hammers in the entire kingdom! Come and shoot a musket for only 6 gold pieces, if you hit the target straight in the center you get 50% off a weapon of your choice!" the half-orc yells as shoppers line up to shoot the musket.
A peculiar looking elf with rounded glasses stands on a stool with three cabinets open behind him. Lining the shelves are many oddly shaped bottles of colorful liquids. Many are adorned with matching ribbons of the same color. "Potions! Freshly brewed potions! Cure any ailment you have with Elias's potions! Goes down smooth and tastes great!" the elf, presumably named Elias yells. To demonstrate, he grabs a yellow potion out of his bag and downs it in one swig. Poof! Elias turns into a frog on his stool. He croaks and jumps for a few minutes before the potion wears off and he returns to normal.
Which merchant do you visit? [[The dwarf]],[[The blacksmith]], or [[Elias]]The residential district of the city is essentially three seperate classes of wealth decreasing in status the further you go into it. You enter into the high class nobility section of the district.
You choose to...
[[Go further]]You enter the docks and see a large variety of different kinds of people. You notice fancily decorated trade vessels manned by soldiers with curved swords that are only found in the east. Many sailors gawk at a magically controlled trade ship.
You see a large crowd forming a circle just further down the dock. You can't tell whats in the center from your current location.
You decide to...
[[Visit the magically controlled ship.]]
[[Get closer to the crowd to see whats happening.]]
You approach the dwarf's stand right as a crowd of people walks away, fish in hand. You walk up to the dwarf's counter.
"Good day knight," the dwarf says, "How's yer stomach doing? You hungry? I bet you are if you came to Gelli's Fish Emporium!" Gelli lifts his arms and smiles. He looks left and right and realizes all of his fish have been sold for the day. "Well I guess I don't have any more fish, but you don't look like ye be needing food, you look like you're on a quest for information!"
[[Why yes my good man, I am on a mission to rescue the king's son, Byron. He was recently kidnapped by bandits and I need to save him. Do you have any leads on where I might be able to find them?]]
[[Actually I am quite hungry, and I see that you are out of fish, so I don't even know why I came to this stall. Know of any decent eating establishments in this city? You know, ones that have food?]]You approach the blacksmith right as someone misses the target.
"Not even close!" the blacksmith yells as he grabs the musket from the person. "You there knight, you fight for the king! You must know how to shoot straight!" the blacksmith points at you and gestures you to come up and try the musket.
You say...
[["When I was in knights college I dominated the Recreational Musket Shooting Club! I would be delighted to participate in a bit of shooting!]]You approach the elf's shop and watch as he shows off the effects of his potions. He grabs two green potions and begins to shake them. After a few seconds the liquid turns from green to purple, and Elias downs both in two gulps. He then jumps off the stool, but instead of falling to the ground, he begins to float through the air.
He takes a few laps around the marketplace air, until the potion starts to wear off. He almost makes it back to his stool, the potion's affect running out just as he floats to it, causing him to crash into the ground.
The audience starts to laugh and point at Elias, shaking their heads and walking away from the stall. You approach Elias as he gets back on his feet.
You say...
[[Oh my god! Are you ok? That was quite the fall!]]
[[Nice flyin' chief, you really stuck that landing!]]Gelli grabs your collar and pulls you in close to his face. You can smell his breath, which reeks of cheap alcohol and fish. You notice his beard is covered in fish guts, and can see lots of fish heads and skin on the ground around his stool.
"Listen 'ere you little shit, no one, and I mean no one, talks badly about my fish. I sell a premium product here, my fish are all caught the day they're sold. If you want to come by and call me ugly or say I smell bad, thats fine, but don't talk bad on my fish. Now, I might not be the smartest dwarf, but the way you've been walking around this market leads me to believe that you're on an important quest. Something from the king, maybe his idiot son has been kidnapped again, I don't know. I just know you didn't come here for food, so what did you come here for?"
[[You're right, apologies for earlier. The king's son Byron has been kidnapped by bandits and I'm trying to find them. Do you know anything at all about them?]]
[[Actually I just came here to talk shit, seeing as I am a knight of the king and you're just a stupid dwarf who smells like rotten fish.]]The dwarf looks you up and down, then sits on his stool and starts to stroke his beard. He starts to speak.
"Well I don't really deal with any of the bandits around the city, selling to them is illegal you see, and with this heightened security after the first two kidnappings, I can't really get away with it. Come to think of it, when I was tieing up me boat in the docks earlier today, I overheard two rough looking fellas talking about how they secured the 'dragon' in their cave yesterday. I thought it was weird they were talking about dragons, haven't seen one meself in over 150 years! But now that you mention this royal kidnapping, maybe dragon is just a code word for the prince!"
Gelli begins to break down his fish stand.
"Its about time I get home to the kids, best of luck in your journey, and stay safe!"
[[Thanks Gelli, I appreciate the help.]]Gelli releases you and sits down on his stool. He strokes his beard and starts to speak.
"Well I don't really deal with any of the bandits around the city, selling to them is illegal you see, and with this heightened security after the first two kidnappings, I can't really get away with it. [[Thanks Gelli, I appreciate the help.]]Gelli's eyes open wide and his jaw drops. He starts to shake his head and laughs.
"You think you, a knight sent to run errands for the king, can push me around like that! Hey boys, get a load of this!"
Out from the crowd of people comes seven other dwarves, all looking similar to Gelli.
"You see knight, these are all my brothers, I'll introduce you. This is Belli, Velli, Pelli, Mingo, Blingo, Ringo, and Rufus. Now, I don't know if you know a lot about dwarves, but we're a closeknit family, and we like to look out for one another, isn't that right boys!?"
The line of dwarves all yell "YEAH" together and draw their weapons. Gelli
"Now, you better either leave or be nice, or you'll end up smelling like rotten fish when we dump your body in the ocean."
[[You're right, apologies for earlier. The king's son Byron has been kidnapped by bandits and I'm trying to find them. Do you know anything at all about them?]]
[[Yeah right, like you pip squeaks could take me in a fight, I studied at the royal academy of swordplay, you catch fish for a living.]]You step away from the fish stall and back into the center of the marketplace circle.
You decided to
visit [[The blacksmith]]
visit [[Elias]]
Gelli and his brothers all jump on you at the same time and tackle you to the ground. They tie up your hands and feet so you can't move and carry you from the marketplace to the docks. They carry you to the longest dock and throw you onto a large fishing boat. The dwarves untie the boat and hop on, sailing it about 200 feet from the port.
"We told you this was going to happen knight, shoulda been more polite to strangers." One of the dwarves says to you.
The dwarves proceed to push you overboard into the water. I won't tell you the specifics but I think you can assume what happens. You are dead. You walk up to the blacksmith and take the musket from him. You stand 50 paces back from the target and take aim.
Right as you line up the shot and get ready to pull the trigger, a pelican flies up to the marketplace and lands on top of the target.
You choose to...
[[Aim at the target and fire, animals have feelings too, why would you just randomly kill an innocent animal when you have the option not to?]]
[[Aim at the pelican and fire, show off how cool you are by slaughtering an innocent animal...]]Well then You end up missing the center of the target, the bullet hits it on the outermost ring.
"It looks like not even a knight trained by the king could hit the center! Tell you what folks, since no one has hit the target today, next person to hit the thing gets a sword on the house!"
A crowd swarms the blacksmith as you get pushed out back into the marketplace circle. You try to push through to shoot again, but the crowd is nearly impossible to pass.
You decide to...
Get a better view of [[the city]]
Talk to [[Elias]] or [[The dwarf]] Thinking it would be cool to show off by shooting a living target, you decide to try and shoot the pelican. You line up the shot and [[pull the trigger]].Time almost seems to slow as the musket goes off. A musketball shoots from the barrel of the gun and hits the pelican square in the stomache.
A cheer comes from the crowd, and the blacksmith starts to applaud you.
"Good job Knight, thats a first in this game! To reward your sharpshooting skills, I have decided to gift you a weapon for free! From my own private collection, follow me!"
The crowd cheers as the blacksmith leads you into his workshop. He opens a cabinet full of various weaponry.
"You may choose any weapon you like here, but I assume you're not here for the prizes. A knight of your stature has no need of a peasent crafted sword, what are you really here for?"
[["I am on a quest from the king himself, he has sent me to find his missing son Byron. The prince was kidnapped by bandits, and I need to learn where they hide, do you have any information?]]
[["Honestly I'm just here for the cheap swords, did you know we knights have to pay for our own gear? Its a shame really, I can't really afford a nice sword so I've just been using a wooden club recently."]]"I have no knowledge of the specific bandit groups operating in the area, I like to keep my nose clean. If I were you I would either check with the fishmonger dwarf here in the market, or walk through the docks and listen to the ruffians there talk. The dwarf tends to deal with shady types on the regular, and most of said types congregate at the docks."
The blacksmith glances out of his window and sees two citizens fiddling with the musket.
"Welp, I need to get back to running the stall, these two here are about to hurt someone messing around with a musket like that. Best of luck on your journey, Knight."
You choose to...
Visit [[The dwarf]].
Visit [[Elias]].
Walk back to [[the city]]The blacksmith laughs and motions to his weaponry cabinet.
You look through every weapon in the cabinet. Lots are pretty standard swords and axes, but a few choices stand out to you.
You grab...
[[The exotic curved sword, recognizing it as a weapon used by soldiers in the eastern kingdoms.]]
[[The double bladed sword, because it is red and looks rad.]]
[[The black shortsword, a smaller sword with a pitch black blade made of obsidian and a dragon's eyeball used as the pommel.]]After grabbing the weapon, you step out of the workshop. Thinking of how well your day is going, what with getting assigned a mission directly from the king and getting a free incredibly rare blade, you don't notice the uneven bricks lining the walkway to the blacksmith's workshop. You take a nasty fall, and while I don't want to describe exactly how nasty it was, I will let you know that you are now dead. Should've watched your step more carefully! After grabbing the weapon, you step out of the workshop. Should've watched your step more carefully!"Why yes, I'm fine, thanks for asking. I thought I brewed that one to last a bit longer, guess I got the ingredients wrong." Elias says as he brushes dirt off of his clothing.
"How can I help you friend? Are you in need of potions? Alchemical ingredients?"
You say...
[[I was hoping to ask you about something more sensitive, I was hired by the king to rescue his son from bandits, do you know of any suspicious activity related to this?]]
[[I'm not really in need of any of that stuff really, I just came up to see if you were ok. Have a good day!]]Elias looks at you with a blank face, staring in your eyes as you smirk at him. You notice his lip starts to twitch and he starts to cry. He hurriedly packs up his potion stand and runs out of the marketplace.
You feel so bad about making Elias cry that you decide to retire from adventuring and take up farming. You get married and have kids, settling down to support your family. The seasons come and go, and your life actually turns out pretty well. You live long and never have to struggle to find food or shelter, and pass away peacefully in your sleep at the age of 84 surrounded by your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. You are dead.Elias looks at you shocked. "Why would you go around telling random people you've only just met about this vital mission you're on? Isn't that a breach of security? Oh well, I'm trustworthy so don't worry about that. I actually had a brush with some neerdowells when I was picking flowers in the forest yesterday. I found a healthy patch of roses in the woods when a band of men walked by. There were about 10 of them, and were talking about securing 'the dragon' in their cave hideout. I assumed they were referencing the prisoner they had with him, looked important. I guess that was Prince Byron. I could tell you where they were headed too, I followed them for a ways out of curiosity."
Elias marks down the location of [[the cave]] in your map."Ah well thanks for asking, I'll be quite alright. Hope you have a good day as well Knight!" Elias says. He gives a little half wave to you and begins to pack up his potions.
As he picks up one of the potion cabinets, one of it's doors opens and a vial of black sludge falls out and smashes on the ground.
Unfortunately, that sludge was a highly explosive unstable mix of chemicals. I won't go into detail on what exactly happened, but where the marketplace was is now a crater, and you are dead.As you arrive at the cave, it becomes pretty apparent that it belongs to a gang of bandits. A large flag pokes out of the top with the bandits' logo and a plaque on the outside wall of the cave says "Yo we kidnapped the prince, we are the best bandits in this kingdom for sure."
You think about how bad the King's scouts are if they couldn't find this place.
[[Enter the cave.]]As you pass through the upper class neighborhood, you notice a sharp decline in wealth as you approach the middle class neighborhood. The houses become a lot smaller and have much less yard space. You notice many families eating outside of their houses with one another. They seem satisfied with their current conditions, everyone seems to be thriving here.
Two specific people stand out to you. You decide to...
[[Talk to the beautiful woman sitting alone outside of her house.]]
[[Talk to the group of rough looking gentlemen drinking ale outside of a house, quietly talking in a group with one another.]]
Continue to walk futher into the district into [[the slums]].Outside of one of the houses, you see a beautiful elf woman sitting alone, eyes gazing down towards the slums. As you approach, the woman looks at you for a few seconds, then turns back to looking down the street.
You say...
[["Hello madam, I am a knight of the King, and would like to ask you some questions related to a mission I am trying to accomplish."]]
[[What are you looking at?]]As you approach the group, their hushed talking comes to a stop and they all turn their heads to stare at you.
You say...
[["Excuse me gentlemen, you seem to be talking about something interesting. I was wondering if I could join in and grab an ale, Its been a long week and I need to unwind."]]
[["By the power invested in me by the ruler of this kingdom, you are under arrest for conspiring against the king! Put your hands up and come with me!"]]As you enter the slums, you're immediately approached by two young boys who look a lot worse for wear. Their clothes are tattered and their faces dirty, with no shoes on their feet.
"'Ello mister, yer a knight, correct? Thats so cool! I always wanted to be a knight!" The taller one says to you.
You say...
[["That is correct citizen, I'm even on a quest for the king right now! The Prince has been kidnapped, and I have been tasked with finding him! Could you help me out with any information you know?"]]
[["Get out of my way peasant, I don't have time to talk to the likes of you."]]They stare at you for a few seconds after you speak. One of the tougher looking men in the group comes up to you and puts his face close to yours.
"Listen here mate, we're talking about private business here, something we wouldn't even want our own mothers to hear. Why would we tell a government lackey like you what we're up to?"
You say...
[["Apologies, but I'm no knight, I'm just a freelance adventurer looking to make friends and find work in this kingdom. I acquired this armor from a dead knight I found in the countryside, It makes me look more reputable and trustworthy"(lie)]]
[["I'm working for the king, and I bet he wouldn't be happy with what you're talking about. Wouldn't want him to find out about it now would we. I know what you did to the prince, tell me where he is located now, or else.]]The group stares at you silently for a few seconds, then the tallest, toughest looking man walks up to you. He gets really close to your face and stares you down.
"And who might you be, small fry?" the man asks.
You say...
[["I'm working for the king, and I bet he wouldn't be happy with what you're talking about. Wouldn't want him to find out about it now would we. I know what you did to the prince, tell me where he is located now, or else.]]
[["Your worst nightmare."]]The man steps back from you and takes a glance at his group. They all start bursting out laughing while one pulls out another ale for you to drink.
"Sorry for the confusion adventurer, I was sure you were a knight of the King with that armor. Grab an ale and sit, you might be interested in this kind of thing." says the man.
You grab the ale and sit at the end of the table.
"Alright now listen up," one of the group says, "We need to deliver 'the dragon' by midday tomorrow, or else they're taking a cut off of our pay. Adventurer, if you want to get in on this money, meet us at our cave hideout tomorrow morning. We've got an important captive we're selling off tomorrow and could use more muscle to back us up. That should be all, finish your ales and get out of 'ere"
The man marks the location of the cave on your map. The group disbands and you are left on the street.
You decide to...
Go to [[the cave]] in the morning.
Continue down the street to [[the slums]]
[[Talk to the beautiful woman sitting alone outside of her house.]]
Right after the sentence leaves your mouth, you feel a thud on the back of your head and everything goes black.
[[wake up]]You wake up disoriented in a place you've never been before. Its pitchblack, but your eyes adjust enough in the darkness to realize that you're in a cave. You can't see any kind of door or opening in the rocks, so you start to yell for help.
15 minutes later, you stop yelling, realizing that no one is coming to save you.
3 hours later, you start to go insane. You start hearing voices and seeing lights when there are none.
You are left without water or food for a long amount of time. You haven't heard any noises but the ones you make yourself. You can't tell how long its been since you've been knocked out.
Eventually, through lack of water, you succumb to severe dehydration. You are dead."I don't have any answers" the woman says, not even turning to look at you. You try to push for a different response but she stays quiet, ignoring every question and staring out at the street.
You decide to...
Leave, and continue walking down to [[the slums]]
[[Talk to the group of rough looking gentlemen drinking ale outside of a house, quietly talking in a group with one another.]] The lady turns to look at you. She studies your face, then turns to look back towards the street. You try to get her attention but she doesn't even acknowledge you again.
You decide to...
Leave, and continue walking down to [[the slums]]
[[Talk to the group of rough looking gentlemen drinking ale outside of a house, quietly talking in a group with one another.]] Right after the sentence leaves your mouth, you feel a thud on the back of your head and everything goes black.
[[wake up]]The two young men look at you in awe, then pull you in close to whisper something to you.
"I know who took the Prince, and where they are. Its a cave about an hour into the countryside!" one of the boys says. He marks the location of [[the cave]] on your map.As you say this, you notice one of the boys sneaking behind you to try and pick your pocket. You try to catch him as he dashes off but they escape. Looking around, it seems as though everyone has gone away. You are alone on the street.
[[Walk back up the district to the palace.]]As you go to leave, you feel a hand grasp your shoulder. You turn around to find yourself face to face with a grizzled old man. As he takes his hand off your shoulder, you see how shakey it is. He clears his throat before speaking.
"Looking for Prince Byron eh?" the old man asks. "I know exactly where he is, and how much security they have over him."
You say...
[["Where are they keeping the Prince, old man?"]]The man, shaking with every motion, reaches into a small bag and pulls out a crinkled map piece. A red circle surrounds a marked location called "Lowette's Cave."
"They got about 5 men, all highly skilled combatants." the old man says, "rumor has it that they have a dragon defending the Prince as well. The bandits apparently knew some necromancers who brought one back from the old times." The old man looks up directly into your eyes, you can detect a sense of sorrow from him.
"I seen too many good men lose their lives so the nobility can live, be careful Knight." the old man says. He nods to you and turns to walk away slowly. You glance at your map and see the location of [[the cave]].As you approach the ship, a man in a red robe steps in front of you and blocks your path.
"Halt Knight, what business do you have with the Mage's College?" the man says.
You say...
[[Apologies friend, I am just a knight of the king on a special mission, do you happen to know of any bandit activity in the area? The prince has been kidnapped!]]
[[Ha! You dorks think you could take me? I bench like 400 pounds daily, what do you do? Drink your soy and read Tolkien? Neerrrrrd!]]You approach the crowd to find a fight starting. Two younger men, one in ragged armor and the other in plain clothes, are readying themselves for a fist fight. They both crack their knuckles and take a few practice swings just before a crowd of guards shows up.
"Alright alright, break it up gents, I'm sure you both have something better to do than wail on each other," the lead guard shouts, "And you lot better get back to what you was doing, no lollygaggin' here."
The crowd dissipates and the two men are left a foot from one another, staring at each other.
You say...
[["Well howdy there friends, you two seem to be quite angry at each other, why?"]]
Point to the armored one and say [["This guy here would've totally won that fight, he's wearin' full armor! Might be a little dented here and there, but its still something."]]"No, the Mage's College does not associate with any criminals," the wizard says, stepping back from you, "We are setting sail soon so I must be going, best of luck in your journey."
The wizard walks back to the ship and disappears below decks. A crowd of citizens gathers as the ship transforms into an airship and flies away.
You decide to...
[[Get closer to the crowd to see whats happening.]]The wizard's expression goes blank as you start to feel an intense burning in your chest.
"I would suggest you leave now before further action is taken." The wizard says.

Say [["I've had worse heartburn from eating pepperoni pizza! Is that all you got magic man?"]]
Leave the wizard and investigate the crowd of people down the street. [[Get closer to the crowd to see whats happening.]]The wizard raises his hand to your chest and squeezes his hand into a fist. I won't tell you what specifically happened, but you are now a pile of ash. You are dead. They both ignore you and continue their staring. The plain clothed one starts to speak.
"Listen here you scoundrel, kidnapping the prince was our job, and you took it, we missed out on so much gold!"
"No way, you got to kidnap him a week ago! How are any other bandits going to make money if you just take all the work," the armored one says.
"I guess thats a fair point," the plain clothed bandit says. "What do you say we make up and be friends?"
"I say aye, lets go grab a pint then I'll show you the prince back at our hideout?" the armored one says.
The bandits continue to talk in front of you, forgetting you've been there the whole time. The armored one gives exact directions to the cave where the prince is being held. They start to hold hands and walk away towards a pub.

Travel to [[the cave]]Double-click this passage to edit it.You walk into the cave.
As you walk a bit deeper into the cave, you come upon a turn. You notice light from a torch coming around the corner. You can hear whispering and laughs.
You decide to...
[[Turn the corner and yell "Hey guys I know you have the Prince so if you could just give him back that would be cool! Thanks!"]]
[[Crouch down and sneak around the corner, you know that theres people on the other side so it would be good to keep a low profile.]]
[[You know what, this is hella sketch. I don't want to work for the King anymore. I should just leave now and start a new life in the countryside]]As you turn the corner, you decide to yell, "Hey guys I know you have the Prince so if you could just give him back that would be cool! Thanks!"
You see about five men sitting at a table together. After you finish your sentence, you realize that the room has gone silent and the bandits are staring at you.
"Hey boss, get a load of this guy!" one of the bandits points at you and starts to laugh. Soon, the rest of the group joins in to laugh at you.
"Well Knight, you've found our hideout. Unfortunately, you will go no further, for you are about to die. Farewell."
The bandit leader reaches to the center of the table and pulls a lever.
Above you the noise of gears grinding starts up. When you look up, you see a huge Indiana Jones boulder falling down from the ceiling. I won't go into the specifics of how you died, but you are dead. You sneak up to the corner and look around the room that the cave opens into. To the left you see a row of tables with food lining them. Straight ahead you see a table with five bandits feasting quietly. To the right, you see what appears to be a pit of spikes poorly covered with leaves. On the far side of the room you see the cave continue in a smaller crawlspace like tunnel.
You decide to...
[[Sneak to the left and hide behind the tables as you make your way to the other side of the room.]]
[[Sneak up to the table and crawl under it while the bandits feast.]]
[[Sneak up to the spike pit and jump over, its only like 5 feet you think you can make it.]]You turn around and leave the cave.
As you walk into the sunlight, you take your helmet off. You feel the breeze on your face and the sun on your skin. All your problems start to melt away as you look around and realize you are a free man, and that nothing the King wants is worth dieing over.
You move to the country and start a new life as a farmer. You marry a beautiful person and have three kids. Your family never worries about being hungry since every harvest turns out better than the last.
After about 60 years of quiet living, surrounded by kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, you die a peaceful death in your sleep at the age of 84. You are dead
You wait for the bandits to look away from the left side of the room to [[make your move.]]You decide to get a headstart and [[crawl all the way to the table.]]You sneak undetected to the spike pit, and prepare your jump.
You back up a few feet from the pit to get a running start.
You start to run towards the pit, but unfortunately you trip on a rock and fall into the spike pit. You are dead. The bandits start to look at the spike pit, they all get up and stand near it, admiring it together.
"She's a beaut boss, never seen a finer spike pit in my life."
"I know right, bought it at the store. Usually I wouldn't spend so much on a spike pit but you get what you pay for, this is a quality spike pit."
As they talk amongst themselves, you dash to the tables and hide behind the back of them, starting to [[inch your way along.]]About halfway past the tables you hear the bandits return to the table and sit down.
You continue to creep by, but you freeze when you hear a bandit [[walk up to the tables]]"Man this rat meat is good, setting up in this cave was a great idea, boss." One of the bandits says, standing right on the opposite side of the table from you.
As the bandit picks up the rat meat, he accidentally drops it on the floor, right in front of where you are.
"Aw man I just dropped the last piece. Maybe I can reach it from around the table."
You hold your breath as the bandits hand passes in front of your mouth. Right before his arm taps your head, a swarm of rats comes out of the wall and eats the rest of the meat. The bandits hand snaps back to him and you hear him jump back.
"Ewwww, nasty little buggers are cannibals too! Oh well, I'm full anyways." The bandit says, walking back to the table and sitting down.
You make your way to the end of the tables and dash unnoticed into [[the tunnel.]]Surprisingly, no one catches you crawling to the table, which is weird considering you're a knight in armor and it gets noisy when you do stuff like crawl on the floor.
You make it under the table and [[make your way towards the other side.]]
About halfway through the table, one of the bandits accidentally kicks you.
"AAAGH! Cave rat under the table! Cave rat under the table!" One of the bandits yells. The group jumps up from the table in shock. "Kill it! Kill it! One of them yells. "I got this! I'll just use a fireball!" Says the wizard of the group.
You hear a fireball whoosh through the air, and I won't go into specific details on how you died, but you are now a pile of ash. You are dead. You duck down and crawl into the small tunnel, quickly getting as far from the entrance as possible.
You crawl for about 15 minutes in complete darkness.
Eventually, you get to a patch of cave that feels a lot 'looser' under you, the cave goes from being one solid material to a lot of loose rocks and pebbles.
You continue for a few feet until the ground rumbles under you.
You start to back up, but the ground shakes and [[falls through.]] You fall about 30 feet until you land with a thud in a wide open, brightly lit room. You look around and immediately notice that theres a large red dragon sleeping in the corner. Behind the dragon, you see a wooden door. There is nothing else in the room.
You decide to...
[[Wake up the dragon and ask if it can move so you can get into the door please and thank you]]
[[Slowly try to climb over the dragon without waking it and enter the door]]You tap on the dragon's snout as it sleeps. It doesn't wake up at first, so you smack it gently on the nose.
The dragon stays asleep, so you decide to pick up some dirt and put it up its nose. As you do so, the dragon sneezes on you. The sneeze was fire, and you are dead. You slowly walk to the back of the dragon, and climb up its body to make it to the door. You can just barely reach the doorknob and push the door open, [[sliding into it]] and shutting it behind you.As you land in the room, you look up to see Prince Byron chained to the wall.
"Hello brave Knight, thank you for coming to save me! If you could undo these chains I would be forever grateful!"
You decide to...
[[Release Byron from his chains and take him back to the King.]]
[[Leave him there]]You break the chains off of Byron. He gets up and rubs his wrists.
"Man, I was in here for so long. I can't believe they've kidnapped me three times this month! I'm getting kind of sick of eating rat meat. Lets go out this secret back door, I saw one of the bandits go out of it when I was pretending to sleep." Byron says, pushing bricks in the wall.
A secret stairwell opens and you and Byron [[climb out]].
Thanks for playing this game up to this point! As you reach the top of the steps, you exit the stairwell. The secret exit to the cave happens to be just about ten feet from the main entrance to the cave, and is even marked with another flag.
"Well it seems we've made it, thank you Knight for saving me. [[To King Magnar at once!]] You need to get your reward!"You and Byron travel back to the King's palace.
King Magnar is impressed with how quickly you completed his task, and grants you the promised 1/10th of an acre of farmland and a mule.
You live the rest of your life quietly, farming all kinds of vegetables.
You meet a lovely commoner who you take as your spouse, and the two of you have lots of children together.
You live out your days farming and raising your kids, occaisonally being invited to the King's palace for a feast.
60 years later, surrounded by your loved ones, you pass away peacefully in your sleep. [[You are dead]]CONGRATULATIONS!
You have completed Knight's Quest!
