\nReach is about a lone person who lives in a motel, experiencing multiple dreams.\n\nIntro
It’s 6:23pm, waking up from another cold sweat after a long sleep; the loner is gasping for air.\n\nThere are some squares on the table with a bit of lighter fluid left. \n\n“It’s a good time to get a breather anyway…"\n\nWhat will you do?\n*Page 2-1\n*Page 2-2\n

“Sorry, guy. No squares on me. And if I did, I’ll cost ‘ya a paycheck. Besides, the time is late, around 7:00pm.” I said. \n\nThen it hit me the loner thought… 7:00pm?\n\n(Damn, the hell I was out here this long for anyway?! This guy must have talked my head off! Or was I daydreaming for too long again?)\n\n\n“Yeah again, I have no squares and it’s getting late.”\n\nBut the person replied, sounding disappointed.\n“Oh, thanks.”\n\n\n“There’s a convenience store that’s a good walk ahead. Go down at 6th East Avenue, and then turn right at North Applegrove Drive. I hope that helps.”\n\n\n“I take it that’s where you got your squares?”\n\n\n“I’m just out here for a breather, so I should be going now.”\n\n\n“…W…Wait!”\n\nPage 2-1-1-1a\n
The loner takes some sleeping pills and drinks some bathroom faucet water.\n\nThe bed, heavily worn out with its wooden foundations and bed sheets that are no more of an colored-stripe pattern. \n\nThe loner grabs tight to the semi-fluffy pillow and tries to go asleep.\n\nWithin the waking minutes ahead, the loner begins to doze off and quitely slumers onto the next day.\n\nPage 4
The loner flips through channels and lights the last cigarrete for the night.\n\nWith an accompanied ash tray, there is no more lighter fluid.\n\n"Great... Now I got to go get more lighter fluid. To the store I go tomorrow."\n\nWatching the channels, there are just various late night sitcoms and infomercials. The loner, bored but unimpressed each of the five to eight seconds viewing each channel before it became a nightly task.\n\nFlipping the channels nonstop and watching the said shows and commercials in between, the loner begins to feel drowsy and decides to call it a night.\n\nPage 4
“…Hmph. You owe me a cigarette, by the way. And you’ll have to excuse me, I kinda lost track of time when I stepped out of here for a cigarette break.”\n\nThe person responded, sounding relived.\n\n\n“Why thank you so. Do you have a lighter? Perhaps when I light this, the time would not matter at this point.\n\n“…I’m almost out of lighter fluid. And I intend to use the remaining left. Sorry.”\n\n“You know where I can buy some more cigarettes, and by some lighter fluids for you, in return?”\n\n“Yes, but buying me another lighter fluid isn’t necessary…”\n\n“Oh…”\n\n“…So what you’ll do is take the 6th East Street, going down the street this way, and then…”\n\nPage 2-1-1-2a\n
The store, called Riley's, was lightly busy, mostly with the routine customers to meeted and greeted the owner, also named Riley.\n\nMost of the customers at the store are mostly middle-aged, some are passerbys to grab a quick bite, while some who also live at the motel.\n\nCustomers are in various asiles, where some are undecided if canned ravioli is a meal for the evening than TV dinner, or buying cheap beer and toilet paper, where some are at the front registry buying lottery tickets, hoping to strike it big.\n\nRiley notices the loner, who is also a routine customer at the tobacco section.\n\n"Hey there!" Yelled Riley at the loner, while multitasking.\n\n\n"Hi..."\n\n\n"Hey, you're here for the usual, correct?"\n\n\n"...No. I'm here to buy a ligther. I'm outta juice..."\n\n\n"You're in luck. There's the last one being sold individually, unless you want the two-pair bundle pack instead? I got good deals for that too!"\n\n\n"...No. I'll buy the individuall lighter instead. Maybe next time."\n\n\n"No worries at all. Lemme finish with this customer."\n\n\nAs Riley was finishing transactions with the customers, the loner looked to the back, as if being watched. Anxious, but steady, waiting to purchase the lighter. There were some more customers entered Riley's.\n\nAlight. One lighter. Your total will be...\n\nPage 3-2-1bb

“Look, I’ll give you square and the time if you can just back off!” The loner said, yelling at him.\n\nThe person responded, sounding offended.\n\n\n“…What? I’m sorry… I did not mean to approach you in a way that made you felt uncomfortable.”\n\n“…”\n\n“…Well then, I guess this stranger will head to a nearby store and buy some cigarettes instead… So do you mind telling me where I can get some?”\n\n“…Yeah. Just down this street, at 6th East Street…”\n\n“…Okay. Well can I ask you something else?”\n\n“Whatever… But make it quick. It’s getting late now.”\n\nPage 2-1-1-3a
Reach
Reaching the motel apartment, the loner leaned heavily against the door.\n\n"...It happened again...\n\nWhy did it happen again...?"\n\nApparently the loner sensed this wasn't the first time of an encounter like this.\n\n"Perhaps I should just go back to sleep. Or maybe I can watch TV."\n\nWhat will you do?\n* Page 2-1-1-1ba\n* Page 2-1-1-1bb
Grabbing the three dollar bills in singles, the loner leaves the motel apartment and goes to the store.\n\nIt was a tedious walk for the loner, all just for a new lighter.\n\nPage 3-2-1aa
Grabbing the wallet with the money inside, the loner hurriedly leaves to go to the store.\n\nThe loner thought "I hope I have some change left, that I can probably buy something else there."\n\nThe walk was steady for the loner. Anxious but steady.\n\nPage 3-2-1ba
The person got closer to the loner, who became more defensive.\n\n"...Wait...I'm sorry. I wanted to return the favor by you going to the store with me. Perhaps, we have small talk, and its on me. You can buy one thing however. I'm not made out of money."\n\n\n"..."\n\n\n"...Look, I'm sorry for startling you."\n\n\n"...Its been a rough day for me..."\n\n\n"...I can imagine...Do you want to talk about it?"\n\n\n"No. Its getting late for me. You got the directions so please go now."\n\n\n"...V...Very well."\n\nThe person, slowly backed away from the loner who, then left as soon as he wasn't seen across from the motel. The loner returned to the apartment, frustrated.\n\nPage 2-1-1-1b\n\n\n

It was getting late when the hour has passed.\n\nOuside the motel window, the loner could see a couple of windows faintly lit. \n\nFeeling like it was a bit too late to go to the store, the loner makes a note by the pseudo-kithen space, a small but simple plastic and metal table that can be assembled to fold flatly.\n\nThe loner places an ashtray and the empty lighter as a reminder, then turning on the television to flip through the channels. Begining to doze off hours later, I became apparent to the loner that it was time to go to bed.\n\nPage 3-1-1
By heading to the convenience store, the loner first returns back to the apartment to pick up some change.\n\nThe wallet, the loner finds may have some money. The loner can't recall if a ligther costs more or less than two dollars.\n\nWhat will you do?\n\n*Page 3-2-1a\n\n\n*Page 3-2-1b

The loner reached the store called Riley's. It was your ordinary convenience store, with sub-par gas store prices, but the owner himself, also named Riley, was always nice and humble.\n\nApparently there were a couple of people inside the store, mostly the loner could recognize since they're from the motel apartments too. With just a bit of chump change, the loner hoped that the transactions would be quick and painless.\n\nRiley sweeping one of the asiles, greeted the loner.\n\n"Good evening! Lovely night is it?"\n\n\n"If you say so..."\n\n\n"Business during these nightly hours makes my night even lovelier. What can I get for you this time?"\n\n\nRiley has his usual customers and the loner was one of them. Sometimes he gives his loyal customers a hush-hush discount. The loner tought a lighter will be an exception.\n\n"I'm looking for some lighters... Do you have any?\n\n\n"Ah, yes! Earlier today, they were selling like hotcakes with syrup! Lemme check if theres some in supply..."\n\nRiley went to the front register while the loner waited and got the change ready, but did not hand it to Riley just yet.\n\nRinginig the price, Riley said "Okay, for one lighter, total price is..."\n\nPage 3-2-1ab
\nThe loner frantically grabs both the cigarettes and lighter fluid and hurriedly leaves outside. \n\nOutside the dank yellow motel and the rusted gray parking lot, one smoke after another, relives the loner, while coughing and still gasping for air at the same time.\n\nThe loner sees a couple of passerby’s, mostly of middle-age, trying to keep to themselves.\n\nSome arrived to the motel after their nine-to-five jobs, some passed by to meet with other folks who are staying at the motel.\n\nOne in particular notices and approaches the loner...\nPage 2-1-1\n
First, splashing some warm water on the face to wake up at the bathroom faucet, the loner thought, staring at the mirror:\n\n“What a good way to start the day…”\n\nThe loner then stands outside the crackled-concrete parking lot to monitor the surroundings. \n\nThere’s not a lot of activitiy going on outside the motel, as it’s usually around the time people who live around the area are seen. \n\nRealizing that recalling the scarce amount of lighter fluid left, the loner decides if its necessary to go to the nearby convenience store right now.\n\nThe loner thought, “ I guess …”\n\n* Page 3-1\n* Page 3-2

The loner sees this 5’10, 152 lbs. person. The person is wearing askew glasses, a dirty sport coat and dangling dress clothes.\n\nWith scruffy hair and no beard or mustache, looks like in his early 20s or 30s. Not the type of person to be around here but weird, the loner thought.\n\nApproaching with caution the person asks:\n“…H…Hi there. Would ‘ya mind sparing me some squares?\n\n…Yeah it’s been one hell of a workday, ‘ya know? \n\nHey… you happened to get the time by chance?”\n\nFor a weird-looking stranger, he’s very talkative and jittery. I wonder what he’s up to. \n\nPlus I don’t want to give away most of my squares and I do not a watch on me…\n\nWhat will you do?\n* Page 2-1-1-1\n* Page 2-1-1-2\n* Page 2-1-1-3\n* Page 2-1-1-4\n
\n"Nothing but squares to keep my mind at ease...\n... for now anyway."\n\n\n"I just want to go back to sleep."\n...But those damn dreams..."\n\n Page 1
