In the school Alonzo Crim there was a class working on a project where they the students have to find different ways to live to 100 years old. The students have to collect information and they can choose how they want to present it but they have to present it to the entire class. The teacher also said that the students are allowed to get in groups of two. Timothy one of the students realizes that he has a grandfather that is around 100 and he is still very active. He was going to [[Ask his grandfather for advice]] or [[Go to the old folks home]]
After school let out for the day Timothy decided to go ahead and walk to his grandfather's house to start on his project and collect information. Once Timothy finally gets to his grandparents house he he asks his grandfather what does he do to stay so healthy and active. Timothy grandfather says, "That's a sudden question but alright. All I really do is stay active and keep moving and now that i'm older I have to watch what i eat. But I think the main reason i've managed to live as long as I have is because i never hated the thought of getting older but I welcomed it into my life. I welcomed it because with age comes wisdom and with that wisdom I can help the people I care about like you." Timothy was happy to hear that and thanked his grandfather for the help. Once Timothy left his grandparents house he saw one of his classmates leaving the old folks home His name was Michael. Should Timothy[[go talk to him]] or [[Not]]Timothy decides to go to the old folks home because there are more people there that have probably seen and alot more than his grandfather. When he gets to the old folks home he sees one of his classmates there his name is Michael. They both walked around and was asking question and when it came time for them to live Michael asked Timothy if he wanted to join up with him and put the information that they both gathered together. Timothy decides to agree to join up because of one reason. That reason was that he has stage fright and with a partner they can speak for him. Timothy says "so now that we are working together should we go to [[My place]] or [[Your place]] so we can put our information together and start our research.Upon leaving his grandparents house Timothy sees one of his classmates named Michael leaving the old folks home. Timothy decides to go and talk to his to see if they could exchange information. Timothy walks up to Michael and says, " Yo Michael what's going on man I saw you leaving the old folks home and I was wondering if you wanted to exchange information. Michael, Ya sure we can but i really didn't get much from them all they said was to stay active, eat healthy, and some of them even said to do yoga. Timothy, Well the yoga part could be useful but i'm pretty sure everyone has stay active and eat healthy. How about this do you want to work together to do this project. Michael, Ya why not it will be easier with the two of use. Timothy, so should we go to [[My place]] or [[Your place]] to start our researching on this project."
Upon leaving his grandparents house Timothy sees one of his classmates named Michael but he decides not to go talk to him and just goes straight home. Once he got home he went up to his room and got on the computer to do some research on living to 100. Timothy found a few things like doing yoga daily, finding your spirituality, and taking time out of your day just to go and walk. Although he has all the information he needs he still has to find a way to put it altogether and then he has to present it to the class. But Timothy doesn't do well in front of people mainly when he is the center of attention. Timothy has two options for his project should he make a [[slide show]] or A [[poster board]] After Timothy and Michael decided to become a group they both decided to go to Timothy's house to do some reasearch on there project. They both researched seapritly so they could collect more information.Timothy found three good peaces of information because most of the stuff they found wasn't useful like "eat lots of blueberries". But Micheal was only able to find two peaces of information. The ways the boys found where, practice yoga, eat healthy, find your spirituality, don't hate the thought of getting older, and stay active. They decided to stop there and start thinking about how they wanted to present. They had to decide if they wanted to do a [[poster]] or a [[slide]] After Timothy and Michael join up and get into a group they decide to go to Michael's house to do research on the project. Once at Michael's house Timothy decided to split up the work. Timothy decided to take finding the information and Michael will be setting up for the presentaiion. so Timothy finds a web sit called bestlifeonline.com. This website gives you a veriety of ways to live to 100 but most of them seem strange. For example one of the ways say to "Eat Nuts". So Timothy scrolled down the list picking the best ones for his project and out of all of the he chouse 5 way " Practice yoga, don't hate the thought of getting older, keep your mind active, take a stand, find your spirituality".Now that they have there way the have to find out how they want to present a [[Posters]] or [[slides]]After much thought Timothy decides to do a slideshow because it would be easier and he would be able to choose whichever pattern he wanted. The pattern he chose was red, white and blue to represent the united states flag. Once that was done he started to place his information into it and he would have a separate slide for each way to live to 100. In the boxes he would put a picture, how using this way to live to 100 would help and how you would use it in the real world. Once that was done it was finally [[time to present]].Timothy had to pick between a poster project or a slideshow project. He wants to do a poster because it is more creative and easy to make. Timothy starts off with getting the board and the materials needed for the poster. He sets it up with a summer theme around the poster leaving the middle space for his information that he printed out. Now That he has everything he needs all he has to do now is glue it onto the poster board in the right order. He has to put first his ways, the description, how he would use it in the real world, and the pictures explaining his different way to live to 100. Now that he is set up and ready it is[[Time to Present]].
The boy decided to do a poster because it felt more creative. But before they can set it up they have to go to the store to get some supplies for the poster and the poster. Before they went to get the supplies the decided to go ahead and print out everything that they need. The pictures, there typed example, and how they were going to implement it into their lives. [[Presentation day]]
Once Timothy found all the words they need they both decided that they should do a poster for their presentation. For there poster they had to print almost everything like pictures that represent the ways that they choose. And they have to type the words out as well as their explanation and how they would use them in life. Timothy typed and printed what they needed and Michael put it on the poster. Then finally the day of the [[Presentation]] came.After finding their information they both agreed to do a slideshow for there project. Timothy gets the slides read and places there information into it. Michael goes back and organizes the information. He first put the way, then he put the explanation, and after the explanation he put how you would use it in life. Once they finish setting it up they went back and double checked it to make sure everything's in order. Then like a flash the week went by and it was [[Time to present]].
Timothy and Michael decides to go ahead and do a slideshow in front of the class. They set up the presentation in order of there ways to live to 100.First they put the word, and then they explain it in detail. Afterwards they try to implement a description of how to use it in real in life. Once they finished setting the slide show up the [[presentation day]] came.
For Timothy and Michael doing a poster was very creative and fun but it would be harder to present then slides would be. Timothy said one of us had to hold it while the other presented. But Timothy had a fear of presenting so he thought that he should probably hold the board but he knew that he would have to take a stade and get over his fear eventually so why not now. Timothy told Michael that he would present to the class and Michael agreed. But once it came time to present Timothy was stuck standing straighter than a stick, and frozen for all to see. Then Michael suggested switching so he could present but Timothy said no and that he has to conquer his fear on his own. Michael agreed so instead of switching Michael gave him some advice and told him to imagine that he is all alone presenting. When all else fails Timothy decided to try Michael's idea and imagine that it was just him and no one else in the room. It went quiet and Timothy was focused and after a minute he continued and he was speaking straight, he didn't stutter and he flow through the presentation. After that he wasn't afraid to speak in front of crowds and he managed to pass the presentation with a full 100.
After setting up their slides Timothy practiced in silence presenting to a big crowd of people because he is scared of talking in front of big crowds.Michael saw this but didn't say anything. But once the presentation started and Timothy's turn came up Michael had to stop being quiet and told Timothy that he saw him practicing. To Michael's surprise Timothy already new that he was watching. So Michael gave Timothy some advice. He told him to focus on one person in the crowd and present to them. Timothy tried this and it worked for him but he wanted to take t step forward and looked at the whole crowd. He stude shaken at how many people their were. But he calmed down and decided to continue no matter what and he went through it with difficulty but got through it all together. And Timothy thought he might have messed it up for their team but they passed with flying colors. The teacher saw Timothy's determination in presenting and he was very impressed and passed him with a full 100.
After Timothy and Michael decided on a slide show they set it up in detail until it was time to present. Timothy's team had to go last so all eyes would be on them and Timothy wasn't ready for that. He was freaking out and going crazy. But in that moment Michael told him to calm down and focus on only him and present. Timothy sat through everyone else's presentation practicing presenting to only Michael until it came time for them to present. They had planned to go one at a time but because Timothy is afraid of large crowds they both presented at the same time. Through the presentation Timothy mainly looked at Michael trying to focus. Once it began he began having fun presenting and then he took a step and looked at the crowd and to Timothy's surprise he wasn't scared anymore. And they managed to get through their presentation with little to no problem and the managed to get a passing grade of 100.Timothy and Michael finished the poster board and put all the information into them. Then finally the day came where they have o present. Timothy told Michael that he is scared of large and talking in front of them. Michael didn't know how to help him so he went to talk to the teacher when they go their and they sat down to talk to him. The teacher asked Timothy why he is so scared of presenting. Timothy said" I'm scared because i have to speak to a big crowd of student which is nurracking it freaks me out. The teacher responds, If you are really scar why don't you just imagine that you are talking to only one person. It could be anyone but for now imagine that you are only talking to Michael." Then the time came for Timothy and Michael to present. Michael went thru his part easily enough and it came time for Timothy to do his part. Through it he started to stutter but he closed his eyes and concentrated on only one person Michael. Once he did that he was able to focus more and go through his part of the presentation and the teacher gave them a perfect grade.
The day has finally come everyone has their stuff and is ready to present . Unfortunately Timothy was shaking and not able to focus properly on his project. The teacher noticed this and had a talk with him. Teacher said "Timothy if you want a passing grade in your presentation you need to calm down and pay more attention to what is going on in front of you. You are so nervous that you probably can't see straight so calm down and breath slow, just imagine that it is just you and me. You are only talking to me." After that when Timothy stepped up to present he was focused only on the teacher and no one else so he was able to go through the presentation with no problems and he managed to pass with flying colors.
Finally it was time to present the projects. Everyone in the class finished on time so now only thing left is to present. For Timothy presentation was both a good and a bad word because that meant he has to go in front of the whole class and speak. That is his worst fear talking to a crowd of people that are just staring at you is nerve racking. The teacher saw him shaking and told Timothy to go first so he could get it over with. But Timothy complained "WHY DO I HAVE TO GO FIRST OUT OF EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE CLASS YOU CHOOSE ME WHY! Teacher, because you are the most scared to present so if you go first you can get it over with and sit down and watch the rest. Timothy, I mean i understand that but still it freaks me out to be in front of a lot of people looking at me. Teacher, Don't worry just imagine that it is just me and you or just you. Think of it as you presenting to your self. Don't be afraid to make a mistake cause no one is perfect." Timothy understood what the teacher meant and he decided to go first. He presented no problem and even though he was scared and did slip up a couple time he managed to get by and he passed with a full 100 on his project.
