In the Shadows of Dark Horse
You notice two other patches where the grass looks flattened.\n\n[[Investigate.]]\n
You venture deep into the mine and into the lair of the sinister creature. The cavern stretches twenty feet into darkened walls in every direction. Slick wooden beams are pressed into the ground. The silver veins briefly catch the light present in the room, which protrude into a wet web of dark, pulsing arteries heavily exchanging the air through small holes. In the center of the vast web consuming the ceiling of the cavern hangs a large, pale yellow sack. Shadows that cast inside of it give the impression of it turning toward the entrance of its lair, causing the thin rows of hairs to vibrate as it's pointed limbs press against the walls of the cocoon. The gravel below is stained darker than the rest of the ground, and just as the realization builds as to its origin, a thin vertical slit in the bottom of the cocoon allows the creature's proboscis to unfold. Opaque saliva drips from the pointed tip.\n\nThe proboscis whips at you, knocking the gas can from your hand.\n\n[[Shoot the proboscis.]]\n\n
