<<set $scholar to true>>\nAlthough you don't entirely neglect Aunt Gwenifer's lessons in tracking and hunting, you find yourself drawn to reading everything you can find about legendary beasts. Unfortunately, many of the texts on the subject are written in archaic and poetic language, so it takes many years of study to learn even a few basic facts.\n\n[[Meanwhile...|BearTro]]
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the forest there lived a family of bears. Papa Bear and Mama Bear ruled the land peacefully for many years, until Mama Bear fell strangely ill and eventually passed away. Papa Bear and Baby Bear, though grief-stricken and lonely without her, tried to continue to lead their people with justice and kindness.\n\nBut Papa Bear began to withdraw more and more, and Baby Bear and their people saw him less and less. One day a strange peddlar showed up with a cart full of strange and magical wares. Hoping to draw Papa Bear out of seclusion, Baby invited the peddlar in to show off his wares. Baby was delighted to see that Papa was indeed fascinated by the peddlar's enchanted goods and spent hours looking them over and peppering the peddlar with questions. Papa spent so long on this, in fact, that he ended up inviting the peddlar (whose name was John) to stay the night before continuing on his journey to stranger lands than theirs.\n\nOut of all of the peddlar's wares, the one that seemed to intrigue Papa the most was a magical porridge bowl, over which an incantation could be chanted to answer any question the chanter wished to ask. \n\nWhen the peddlar finally departed, his cart was lighter one magical porridge bowl.\n\n[[Continue|Legendary]]

A twisted fairytale(s)
Suddenly overcome with shyness, you stammer out "buh... buh... b-bye" and walk off into the forest again. You wish you were braver and had mustered to stay and talk to the strange bear but nothing in your life had prepared you for that.\n\nSadly, you wander onward, alone.\n\n--THE END--
In the forests of Kylandia lives a family of hunters, the Whites, where every girl child is trained in tracking and woodcraft from their first footstep onward, from generation to generation since time immemorial. \n\nYou were born into this family, the first of your generation, and as such, a particular burden was placed on you: to track and bring down a legendary beast and bring it before your tribe as a trophy and proof of your place among your people. Your mother named you Goldi, after your great great grandmother, one of the greatest huntresses to ever live among your people.\n\nDo you [[fight your destiny|Slacker]], apply yourself to [[become the best hunter you know|Hunter]] or do you study the ancient texts and [[learn everything you can about the legendary beast|Scholar]]?
<<if $scholar is true>>\nAlthough terrified, you grasp the spear tightly, take a deep breath and then hurl it at the bear.\n\n"Stop!" he shouts, and your spear flies wide of the mark. He looks at you sadly, then reaches down and picks up the spear.\n\nTerrified, you run away. Now you can never go home and you will never fulfill your destiny. Doomed to wander forever.\n\n--THE END--\n<<else if $hunter is true>>\nFull of determination and resolve, you raise your spear and thrust it into the bear, killing him in one solid strike. He looks up at you sadly as he falls to the ground and then dies. You prepare to cut off his head and take your trophy back to your tribe, the symbol of your victory.\n\nYou feel strangely sorrowful and empty inside though.\n\n--THE END--\n<<endif>>
Before sending you off, the elders give you a small sack of supplies, a map, a compass, and a large spear.\n\n<<if $scholar is true>>\nThey tell you that the legendary beast lives on the outskirts of the forest and mark the location on your map. Fortunately your studies have made you well-versed in map-reading, which should help compensate for your weaker tracking skills.\n\nYou set off in the [[direction indicated|Outskirts]] by the map.\n<<else if $hunter is true>>\nThey tell you that the legendary beast lives on the outskirts of the forest and mark the location on your map. Although your map-reading skills are not the best, your tracking skills more than make up for it, and you listen carefully as they describe the beast's tracks.\n\nYou set off in the [[direction indicated|Outskirts]] and begin looking for signs of the beast's presence.\n<<else if $slacker is true>>\nThey tell you that the legendary beast lives on the outskirts of the forest and mark the location on your map. You don't pay much attention though because you really have no intention of tracking this thing and killing it. What did it ever do to you?!! And this whole "destiny" thing is nonsense anyway, people should be free to choose their own paths in this day and age!\n\nYou pretend to head off in the direction indicated to convey the impression of compliance, but as soon as the elders are out of sight, you [[stop to think|Outskirts]] and plan your next step.\n<<endif>>\n\n\n
Eventually, the fateful day arrives, the day on which you come of age and set out to fulfill your destiny and find and capture the legendary beast. \n<<nobr>>\n<<if $scholar is true>>\nAfter all your studies, you know that the beast is mighty and intelligent, and it will take all of your cunning to track him and take him down. You only hope that you haven't neglected your tracking and hunting skills too much...\n<<else if $hunter is true>>\nYour tracking and hunting skills are the best your tribe has seen in many generations, so you have no concerns that they are up to the task at hand. But what is the beast? You fear your lack of knowledge may be your undoing...\n<<else if $slacker is true>>\nYou fight to the end to avoid the responsibility being thrust upon you and flee to the companionship of your height challenged friends to avoid the coming of age ceremony. But your aunts find you and bring you before the tribe to announce that the time has come for you to undertake your quest. You stand before them sullen and resentful, only to wander off into the forest in solitude when the ceremony ends...\n<<endif>>\n<<endnobr>>\n\n[[The hunt begins|Forest]]

<<if $scholar is true>>\nHesitantly, you return the greeting. "Hello?"\n\nYou exchange introductions and find that the bear is named Baby Bear and is quite friendly and interesting. \n\nYou're glad that you made a new friend but you feel strange about all of the years you've spent preparing to hunt him. In return, he tells you about his own childhood, the passing of Mama Bear, Papa Bear's strange obsession with the magic porridge bowl and his own feelings of loneliness and estrangement. Spideyj (Kanane Jones)
<<set $slacker to true>>\nResenting the burden placed upon you by the arbitrary designation of birth order, you avoid study and training as much as you possibly can, escaping into the forest to play and climb trees. Eventually you meet a family of dwarves and the eight of you play elaborate games of make-believe.\n\n[[Meanwhile...|BearTro]]\n
Meanwhile...\n\nPapa Bear became obsessed with the magical porridge bowl, asking it question after question and seldom leaving his chambers. It seemed to Baby Bear that he never saw his father any more. Despondent and lonely, he began to wander outside the castle and venture into the forest. On some level he was probably hoping that the peddlar would return and he could convince him to take back the porridge bowl, but he really had no idea how to break Papa's addiction.\n\n\n<<if $scholar is true>>\nAs you follow the map, you eventually find yourself in an area where the forest lightens and the trees gradually give way to bushes and other vegetation. Could this be where the beast resides?\n\nYou make your way to [[the village|Village]].\n<<else if $hunter is true>>\nAs you head in the direction indicated, and forest grows less dense, you start to see tracks and other indicators of the beast. You'll miss them but hopefully you can come back and visit some day.\n\nEventually you come upon a town with a charming castle on the hill above it. You make your way into [[the town|Village]].\n<<endif>>
