Welcome to the Peabody Institute of Danvers Twine demo!
Twine is a platform that allows you to create a series of linked rooms or pages. Using the combination of text, images, and links you can create an interactive narrative. Here is a choose-your-own-adventure-story using the Peabody Institute of Danvers. Enjoy!
You have arrived at the Peabody Institute of Danvers. The air is crisp, with a hint of smoke from a nearby chimney. Do you walk to the [[library entrance]] or explore the [[grounds]]?

The Peabody Institute of Danvers was constructed in 1869. It was funded by Danver’s native George Peabody, a banker and philanthropist. In 1890 the library was destroyed in a fire, and rebuilt in 1892.
In the waning fall light, the library looks all the more warm and cheery. Do you enter the [[library]] or explore the [[grounds]]. <html><IMG SRC="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/42/Children%27s_Garden_Peabody_Institute_LIbrary_Danvers_August_2012.JPG/640px-Children%27s_Garden_Peabody_Institute_LIbrary_Danvers_August_2012.JPG"></html>

Strolling behind the library you can see the Children’s Room. There is a small flower garden and a series of benches. The windows of the Children’s Room are plastered with art and seasonal decorations.
This area was part of a massive project in the 1980’s that expanded and renovated the basement. The Archives and Gordon room are located on this floor.
For some reason the back door is locked. Do you head back to the [[library entrance]] or continue exploring the [[back of the library]]?<html><IMG SRC="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/34/Back_Lawn_Left_Peabody_Institute_Library_Danvers_MA.JPG/640px-Back_Lawn_Left_Peabody_Institute_Library_Danvers_MA.JPG"></html>

Stretching before you is Peabody Park, a lightly wooded area that gives way to a lush lawn. In the distance you can the Mill Pond, and a bandstand at the edge of the embankment. The chilly November air is starting to become uncomfortable. Do you head to the [[library entrance]] or [[stay outside]]?<html><IMG SRC="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/34/Back_Lawn_Left_Peabody_Institute_Library_Danvers_MA.JPG/640px-Back_Lawn_Left_Peabody_Institute_Library_Danvers_MA.JPG"></html>

A limitation to choose-your-own-adventure stories is that you will eventually run out of choices. In many ways the freedom you feel is an illusion.
It has now has begun to rain heavily, you have no other option but to head back to the [[library entrance]]. As you approach the door a sudden warmth washes over you. Grasping the door this sensation increases. There is a flash of light and you find yourself in a strange place.

It is clear you are nowhere near the library. There is a warm breeze heavy with the scent of flowers. The sky above is cloudy, and through the haze you can see two suns. Before you stretches an inviting garden path. Do you follow the [[path]] or explore the [[garden]]? At first it seems like this meandering path goes on forever. Just as you are about to head back, you see a fork in the distance. Picking up the pace you find this area less cultivated than the garden. A sense of unease fills you.

Do you take the [[right path]], [[left path]], or head back to the [[garden]]? While beautiful, most of the flora and fauna is unknown to you. A closer look drives home the alien nature of this place. What seemed to be a blueberry bush is covered with eyes, not berries. Looking back to the path you see the strange vegetation closing in, trying to block your escape. Do you run to the [[path]] or [[stand your ground]]. Hey, you got to the good ending. You picked the “Right path”.

Cool, you picked the left path. Now don’t tell anyone else, but this is the “Best” Ending. Congratulations!

That was not a good idea. The carnivorous vegetation surrounds you. They look very hungry, and you look very tasty.
