You have just walked in the door and are told that you were sat a table of four and it needs to be greeted. Using your knowledge of the service process, what do you do next?
[[Clock in and head to the table to greet your guests]]
[[Ask another server to greet the table]] It's great that you want to get right to work! So, you've clocked in and you are on your way to the table and noticed that you forgot your pen. What do you do?
[[Continue to the table and greet your guests with a genuine smile and introduce yourself]]
[[Turn around and get a pen, you realize that you need to be prepared]]That's great that you asked another server to help. You only have 0-30 seconds to greet the table, so if you are not prepared, please ask for help. We encourage teamwork and want our customers to have a great first impression. If you aren't ready, you may seem unorganized and unprepared for your shift.
Thanks to your co-worker, you are able to get clocked in and prepared for your shift. Your co-worker comes back with the table's drink and appetizer order, what do you do next?
[[Have the other server take the table and ask the team lead or manager if you can go take a break while you wait on a another table to be sat]]
[[Thank the other server for his/her assistance and ring in the drink and appetizer order]]It's ok to ask the other server to take the table if they are not busy, but we expect you to come prepared, read to work once your shift begins. The manager or team lead will not permit a break first thing. Please review the employee handbook and start over.

[[Don't worry about asking for his id. He looks like he is over 21, so he should be good to drink legally. Plus, you need to get to the other table]]
[[Ask the guest for his state id]] Great choice! Remember to always check the specials board for soup of the day, drink specials, and items that have been 86'd (discontinued). By checking this board, you will be prepared to greet your table and offer suggestions to your tables.
You took their order, and one of the guests wants a glass of wine but looks like he may be younger than 40. As you are taking the drink order, you notice that another table is sat. Realizing that you have less than 30 seconds to finish up with this table and greet the new tabke, what do you do next?
[[Ask the guest for his state id]]
[[Don't worry about asking for his id. He looks like he is over 21, so he should be good to drink legally. Plus, you need to get to the other table]]You should never assume that a guest is over 21. If you were to serve an alcholic beverage to someone who is under 21, this is immediate displacement and may result in fines. We take this step very seriously.
We recommend that you review the employee handbook section on serving minors

We take this step very seriously! The law says that anyone who looks younger than 40 should be id'd; however, you should always check a guest's id when alcohol is ordered.
You are really showing how you can multi-task and still take care of your tables. You greet the new table with a friendly smile, inform them of the soup of the day, offer suggestions for beverages and appetizers. On your way back to the computer, you remember that your other table ordered appetizers and you are still waiting on their beer. What do you do next?
[[Ring in the new table's order and grab some appetizer plates, napkins, and any sauces for both tables. Pick up beer from the bar and grab new table's drinks to deliver]]
[[Head back to the kitchen and yell at the cooks for not having the appetizer ready]]Awesome! You are very efficient and can handle multi-tasking which are both necessary skills for food and drink service! You are ready to start taking food orders for both tables.
[[Take Food order]]You have dropped off the drinks, appetizer plates, and sauces at both tables. Now it's time to take the both tables food orders (keep in mind that you have 4-8 minutes to return back to the table to take their meal orders).
You get back to the first table sat, and begin taking their order.
Guest 1 orders a cheeseburger with fries
Guest 2 orders a Seafood Salad
Guest 3 asks that you explain the Romano Stromboli

[[Thank you!]]It is important that you come to work dressed in uniform and ready to work.
You should have your apron, pens, order pad, and a $20 bank of smaller bills and change.
Review the specials board and note any drink specials, soup of the day, and vegetables of the day so you can suggest them to the table.
[[Thank the other server for his/her assistance and ring in the drink and appetizer order]]

[[Inform the guests of the soup of the day or any specials and suggest a specific beverage and appetizer]]
[[Ask the table what they would like to drink and take their drink order]]That's awesome that you want to be prepared, just keep in mind that you want to remain conscious of the 0-30 second greeting timeline. Make sure that you walk in the door with the following:

[[Inform the guests of the soup of the day or any specials and suggest a specific beverage and appetizer]]
[[Ask the table what they would like to drink and take their drink order]]
This is a great start; however, remember to inform the guests of the soup-of-day and/or specials. It is important to pick one beverage and appetizer to suggest and get to know them, so you can answer any questions your guests may have about the menu items. Offering suggestions raises the total sale of the bill, resulting in potential higher tips.
You grab the drinks and head back to the table. When you return, you remember to suggest the drink specials and an appetizer.
