Location, location, [[Location]]
Let's talk [[co-op]]
Make sure to check out this popular [[video]] as well!
Boston is a vibrant city with a rich history. There is so much to do here.

Many students spend their weekends and days off venturing to the North End, Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street, or the Seaport District. The [[food]] is amazing and the area is very [[beautiful]].
With all the sporting events in the area, there is always a game to catch. [[sports]]
Students travel around the city on [[the T]], Boston's train and subway system.Co-op is one of the biggest reasons students choose Northeastern. This program allows you to **explore** careers before graduation, gaining practical, real world experience.

Most often, students choose a 5-year, 3 co-op experience or a 4-year, 2 co-op experience. NU is really flexible and lets you build your schedule to suit your needs. Also, many students get job offers from previous co-ops, or stay on part time after their 6 months have ended. Either way, co-op is a great way to build your resume and figure out what you *really* want to do after graduation.
Boston [[sports]] teams are also a highlight of the city life.Boston calls itself **"The City of Champions."** Residents are proud of their sports teams, and rightfully so. They win very frequently.

Northeastern itself also has some great [[college sports]].Northeastern has many popular sports teams. Students go to Matthews Arena, the original home of the Boston Bruins, to watch hockey and basketball games.

Back to [[home]]The food in Boston is incredible. You can get some traditional seafood - clam chowdah and lobstah rolls - or hit the North End for great Italian fare.

The food on campus is really good too - check out NU [[dining]]!Each season in Boston offers something new. Summers in the city afford students new activities such as SoWa market, 4th of July celebrations, and rooftop get-togethers. The New England fall foliage draws many tourists with an eye for photography. Winters can be harsh, but students take opportunities to go ice skating, or travel to nearby mountains to ski or snow tube. In the spring, people begin to spend more time down by the Charles River, the Boston Common, and walking around the city.

Back to [[home]]Northeastern students get around the city on the T. There is both a green line and an orange line stop on campus. Ruggles station is also home to the commuter rail, with easy access to Providence and different Massachusetts locations.

Back to [[home]]This video is a little old, but a *total classic* when describing life at NU!

A lot of the school has been recently renovated as well. Everything is always being updated!
Even with the wonderful opportunities locally, once you arrive at Northeastern, you are quickly encouraged to [[travel]] away from Boston.
Be sure to take a look at [[housing]] too!<img src="http://www.northeastern.edu/geo/dialogue/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/dialogue_fair_1400-740x493.jpg

Most students go abroad at least once during their college careers. There are traditional study abroad programs, as well as Dialogue of Civilizations programs. These are shorter, 5-week ones run during the summer months. There are also many Alternative Spring Break and club trips during breaks.

Additionally, many students choose to [[co-op]] abroad as well.
NU also offers different [[service]] opportunities both abroad and around Boston.<img src="https://www.northeastern.edu/communityservice/wp-content/themes/wpx/assets/images/logo-main.png" width="500" height="300" alt="Two foxes">
Northeastern offers countless programs for service around Boston and around the world. The Center of Community Service runs programs for incoming students, Alternative Spring Breaks, Service-Learning courses, and weekend projects. These are great ways to make an impact in the community and meet new people.

Back to [[home]]The food at Northeastern is actually pretty good. There are 3 dining halls, Stetson East, Stetson West, and International Village. Rebecca's Cafe is a campus favorite, and students swear by the TKO at Chicken Lou's. Curry Student Center and Marino offer restaurants such as Popeyes, B. Good, and Au Bon Pain.
There are also 3 Dunkin' Donuts locations and a Starbucks on campus, so you are never without your caffeine fix.

Back to [[home]]Freshmen at Northeastern typically live in double bedrooms with communal bathrooms on the floor. Most freshman dorms are located on one side of campus, making it easy to get to know other students. Dorms are usually organized by majors, colleges, or interests of the students. Two of these, Stetson East and Stetson West, offer [[dining]] halls below the living areas.

Dorms have common areas where students can hang out or do work together. RAs preside over the floors and plan fun programs that are included in the Student Activity fee. Some examples are **free food**, Escape the Room, duck tours, and trips around the city.
International Village offers Honors students semi-private singles. There are classrooms and a dining hall here too.
