Politicians and military from off-world are everywhere. I'm going to have to work the room. I need to figure out where Commander Mallix stored those plans.
Here are my [[options]]Maybe I can find where those plans are stored somewhere around here.

[Alright Commander Mallix, where did you stash those plans...
"Princess, so nice to finally meet you."
He took my hand and gave the smallest bow. He may be working for an evil empire, but he has good manners.
[["Pleasure to meet you, Commander"]]]
(if: $talkedToSomeone is false)
[I don't know if I should head straight for him. I should work the room a little first.
Here are my [[options]]]A tall lanky man is swaying in the corner in front of an oil painting of a gray cityscape, theatening to destroy it with a spill.
"WELCOME! I'M CID RAR! YOU'RE THE PRINCESS, RIGHT!?
IT'S SO COOL YOU'RE HERE!"
He's sloshing all over the place, staring at me expectingly. He wants me to confirm how "cool" it is that I'm here.
[[Senator Organa will do, thank you.]]
[[Thank you sir, happy to be invited]]
(set: $talkedToDPG to false)A woman in an evening gown is sitting on the edge of the fountain in the center of the room.
"Princess Leia, a pleasure."
This is the wife of the representative we think could be the Imperial spy. She's beautiful... and obviously bored out of her mind.
"Of course, happy to meet you Mrs. Ennada"
I take a seat next to her, looking at the coins from all the different currencies in the water. Some of them even float.
"So glad to see another woman here. These political things are so BORING! And believe me, my husband and I know boring - we're from Taris!"
[[I'm actually here as a Senator.]]
[[Yes, they can get very dull.]]A single server stands at attention to the side of the buffet table. Guests flow past on both sides admiring the spread, everything grown and imported from farms on Lothal.
"Senator Organa, how may I help you?"
This server is intense. He's maintaining eye contact like it's a staring contest.
[[Thank you for calling me Senator and not Princess.]]
[[I need a drink.]]"Yaaaa... okay."
He stumbled away pouting... for about 60 seconds, until he found someone else to bother.
I need to get back to work.
[[Mingle]]
(set: $talkedToDPG to true)"SO COOL! A PRINCESS!"
He wandered off, distracted by the new hors d'oeuvres put out before he could elaborate anymore on the coolness.
I have to get back to work.

(set: $talkedToDPG to true)"Oh I see. Well, my husband is right over there if you want to say hello."

Better get back to the party.

(set: $talkedToSomeone to true)"Yes! Even my husband agrees!
I swear, he wouldn't even come to these things if Commander Mallix wasn't here. They were in the academy together, and once they meet up I'm alone all night."
She's so lonely. I bet she has no idea her husband and his friend are probably working for the Empire.
"Well, don't worry. I'll be around tonight to save you from death by boredom."
"Bless you."
I think I made a friend. Better get back to the party.

(set: $talkedToAW to true)
(set: $talkedToSomeone to true)"Of course, Senator. We wouldn't give this job to just any princess."
[[Ex-excuse me?]]"Of course."
He finally breaks off his stare to pour me a drink.
"There's a lot of pressure on you tonight, but we know you can do this."
He said it without even looking up, and then he handed me the drink.
[[Ex-excuse me?]] "Lieutenant Wran at your service, Senator."
And then he was gone.

I just have to find these plans, send them back to the rebels, and avoid getting caught... easy.

He smiles at me, but his smile doesn't reach his eyes. Does he know? There's no way he could know. No one would have given me up, right?
"I was just speaking to another Senator from Aldaraan about the recent Empire attack on Yavin 4."
He's trying to read my face.
"What are your thoughts?"
[[It's horrible what they did to those rebels. They should all be charged with war crimes.]]
[[I feel bad for the poor bystanders who had to die just to get rid of a few bad apples.]]

(set: $talkedToCommander to true)"I see, you are indeed the kind-hearted princess everyone makes you out to be. Don't worry though, their deaths are not in vain."
"What makes you say that Commander?"
"Well, I shouldn't be telling you this but, we have received intelligence that there is a dangerous rebel here tonight. I've even had a holding room prepared for when we catch the scoundrel. We will protect you and your beautiful planet Princess."
"Thank you Commander, I feel safer already knowing you are the one on the lookout."
"Of course Princess, now go back to the party. I'm sure eveyone wants to talk to you."
I'm done here. He doesn't suspect me at all.
Better look at my remaining [[options]] "I'm suprised Princess. I thought you were more soft-hearted than that."
He looks skeptical. Maybe I'm laying it on a bit too thick.
"If that's really how you feel, let me ask you this..."
He moves closer to me and lowers his voice...
[[Yes?]]"War crimes?"
He scoffs, looking at me like I'm a pouting child.
"Well, you are a bit of a bleeding heart. I had heard that, but I suppose I wasn't sure if it would affect your political beliefs."
Suddenly, his voice and demeanor changes. He flashes the coldest smile I've ever seen, and leans in closer.
"A word of advice, Princess? You should be careful how openly you critique our Empire in mixed company such as this. Someone less understanding might mistake your compassion for more... rebellious sympathies."
[[I.. I see. I never meant-]]"Do you think the rebel spy at this conference should have seen our attack coming?"
Oh no.
"Because you see Princess, there IS a rebel spy here tonight, and if you are as detached from them as you say you are, I believe you will help me find them."
I take a step back.
"Commander, you must be joking."
I try to smile as if it was a bad joke as I back away, but I can't let anyone else notice us.
He easily closed the distance.

The camera feeds are sending live feedback approximating the movement of every guest in the hall. They appear on the display as small green cylinders. The cylinders move and jostle around the model of the room, glitching and merging together in the most poulated areas.

The server, Lieutenant Wran was inside. His voice sounded muffled though the door.

"Why would you do that!? What is going on!?"
[[I'll explain, just be quiet!]]"Who's there??"

"No, I had to leave it somewhere else. It was too crowded where we had planned. I'm sure you will be able to find it--we've known each other a long time now."
Another pause.
"Yes, just like back home."
That's the last thing I can make out. He's turned around and walked back down the hall. He must like pacing as much as the Lieutenant here. Speaking of...

[[Let him go]]
[[Leave him there]]"I see. You needed time to finish the mission."
He's conflicted. His eyes flash to the door.
"If you let me out, they will know it was you. You're the only one who knows I'm back here."
"But if I keep you here, they will torture you."
He leans back on his heels and winces.
"There's no good option. You have to choose. Finishing the mission is the most important thing. I already swore my life to the rebellion."
[[Let him go]]
[[Leave him there]] He looked me up and down as I fiddled with the door.
"So, you're not with the Empire."
He spoke calmly but stood a few steps back.
"No, I'm not."
I take a pin out of my bun to open the dismantled hand scanner. These are the same outdated doors that we have at the palace. I learned how to disarm these locks when I was 9.
"Then why did you give them my name!?"
He wants to shout but knows better now. He's exasperated and needs an answer. The scanner beeps and turns from red to green. I turn around to face him.
[[I panicked!]]
[[You were the only person they would believe]]I walk briskly past the other guests to the front hall. There's that painting of a city skyline at twilight. The sunset is beautiful, but it makes the city look cold, somehow. Just like Taris.
There! I can see the a tiny envelope tucked in the corner of the frame. It blends in so well it could go unnoticed all night. Just as I'm about to reach for it, I hear her.
"Princess! So lovely to see you again!"
The representative's wife, Mrs. Ennada. What is she doing here? She crosses the room towards me holding my gaze the whole way. Her heels click at more than twice the pace of the music in the room.
"Admiring the artwork? I suppose it is a bit bland, but it does remind me of home."
Her eyes flit to the painting and then back to me. She's smiling, but not with her eyes.
Just like home. It's her! How could I have not seen that?
"Why don't we go back to the party? They just brought out some traditional food from Aldaraan and I would love if you could tell me all about it."
She grabs my arm and tries to pull me away from the painting. She can't be sure I'm a rebel spy yet, but she definitely suspects. I have to play this right. I need to get those plans before she does.

He looks confused for a moment, still distracted by his communicator.
"Yes, a holding room. Can you tell me where it is?"
I give him a hard stare, forcing him to pay attention to me. Once his attention is pulled from his communicator, he remembers.
"Oh yes! The room Commander Malix had prepared. I can escort you if you just give me a moment."
He starts to call someone on his communicator.
"I'll be right back, I'm escorting P-"
[[I don't need an escort, just tell me where it is.]]"Ha... HA HA HA HA!"
He reels his head back in laughter.
"I have known Representative Ennada since we were in the academy together. He and I have no secrets. Unlike you and I, Princess."
He reaches out and puts a forceful hand on my lower back, walking me towards the exit. I want to jerk away, but I can't make a scene.
"I think it's time you went back to your palace. In fact, I will send one of my own personal guards to escort you."
Before I can protest, a guard is by my side.
"Goodbye, Princess. I do hope you enjoyed your time playing Senator. You have certainly relieved my anxieties about the Rebel alliance."
I played this wrong. All wrong."I see."
He finally broke his gaze to look over at Mr. Rar. He grimaced in distaste at the man falling over himself drunk, but seemed suspicious nonetheless.

I doubt that will convince him for long.

"Princess... What. Are. You. Doing?"
I have to tell her something. I need to get away from her.
(if: $talkedToServer is true and $SpyIsFree is true)[ Just then a server who was blending into the crowd came walking over. It's Lieutenant Wran.
"Senator Organa, you are needed by the King immediately."

[[Let go of me, I know who you really are.]]"What? I- I'm sure I don't know what you mean."
She's flustered, but only for a moment.
"Your city! You said so yourself, right? It's just like home. Well, your husband's home as well I suppose but, he wouldn't appreciate the painting the same way we do, right? He doesn't know what to look for."
She can't hide the shock on her face, though she does mask it quickly. I was right then! Her husband doesn't know she's working for the Empire. All this time we were assuming it was her husband, but it was her.
If she wasn't sure I was a spy before, she knows now... but can't prove it. I just need to make her not want to try.
"MY HUS- my husband... is not interested in such things. The Commander however, loves art. Why don't I call him over right now, hmmm?"
She grins and turns to flag him down. To have him catch me in the act.
[[There's no need for that!]]
[[Sure, call him over.]]She lowers her arm and turns to me, looking at me with mock pity.
"No? Give me one good reason I shouldn't have him come see you for who you really are, Princess."
[[I'll leave right now, if you say nothing.]]
[[It wouldn't do you any good.]]"Although you may not want to..."
She turns, lowering her arm as I step closer.
"Because if the Commander comes to look at this... art, your husband may come to realize that he is not representing Taris in the most advantageous light. At least not while he's bringing you to events."
This is it. Twist the knife.
[[You may find that all off-world invites will start being addressed to the representative of Taris... alone.]]She looks at me with wide eyes, but then scoffs.
"They can't just not invite his wife. He wouldn't just leave me alone."
I've hit a nerve.
"Oh but they can, and will. Who do you think I am, Mrs. Ennada? I am a Princess, and a Senator. I FAR outrank your ignorant husband, and if you think Commander Mallix won't replace you in an instant, you are lying to yourself."
She looks down, eyes flitting trying to think of some rebuttle, some way to win without dooming herself to an eternity of life on Taris with no reprieve.
[[Take the plans and walk away.]]
[[Tell her to leave]]I reach past her and retrieve the envelope, slipping it into my bag.
"I do hope to see you at the next function."
She doesn't look at me, but I can tell she's seething. I can only hope her desire to continue working for the Empire and traveling off world is stronger than her urge for revenge.
With the plans safely in my bag, I make my exit. Back to the palace to deliver them. My first mission is done.

(set: $SheMad to true)"Go back to the party. I'm sure the Commander is wondering where you are."
She gives me a look to kill. She's fumming, but after a tense moment she turns and walks back to the party. I can only hope her desire to continue working for the Empire and traveling off world is stronger then her urge for revenge.
With the plans safely in my bag I make my exit. Back to the palace to deliver them. My first mission is done.

"Why should I care if you leave? Trust me Princess, you're no threat."
She turn and flags down Commander Mallix and he starts to walk over.
There's nothing I can do.
(if: $talkedToServer is true and $SpyIsFree is true)[ Just then a server who was blending into the crowd came walking over. It's Lieutenant Wran.
"Senator Organa, you are needed by the King immediately."
[[My apologies Mrs. Ennada. I must go.]]]
(if: $talkedToServer is false or $SpyIsFree is false)[
Commander Mallix reaches us quickly.
"Commander! I believe we have found who we are looking for!"
She gestures to me and they share a look. Mallix lets out a surprised laugh, adding insult to injury.
"Well then, Princess..."
He reaches out and puts a forceful hand on my lower back, walking me toward the exit.
All wrong.]"How would this not do me any good?"
She looks annoyed; I've interrupted her fun. I need to make her realize she's not the only one with power here.
"Because if the commander comes to look at this... art, your husband may come to realize that he is not representing Taris in the most advantageous light. At least not while he's bringing you to events."
I step closer and lower my voice. She doesn't look annoyed anymore.
This is it. Twist the knife.
[[You may find that all off-world invites will start being addressed to the representative of Taris... alone.]]She lets go with an icy glare, and positions herself between me and the painting.
"And I you, Princess."
I have no choice but to retreat. Iv'e failed. I turn and walk straight for the exit and make my way back to the safety of the palace.
[[EPILOGUE]]
(set: $WifeOuts to true)She lets my arm go slowly and gives Lieutenant Wran a glare, but backs off.
"Of course, Princess."
We quickly turn to leave and Wran starts guiding me to the exit.
"Wait, the plans!"
I look back to see if she has moved so I can go grab them.
"Turn around!"
His harsh whisper snaps me back into focus.
"You are lucky I got you out of there when I did. Now let's both get out of here."
We hurry out of the conference center and into the night.
