More of the same, just a new setting. Watching her with tubes everywhere and machines buzzing and the only thought was how this was no surprise. That smell. Everyone knows it. Right after you get past the front desk where you're greeted and everyone is smiling. When you go up the elevator and get off. That smell hits you. The workers can't tell anymore since they are used to it. But the outsiders. They know it.
Sitting here waiting for the inevitable. Knowing this is your fault whether you want to admit it. You don't have to though. And know one would know. You have long lost the ego that once controlled you. Self awareness is divine.
[[Atop The Highest Plain]]
Whoever says money can't buy happiness is a fool. It's how it's managed is key. Money is the biggest cause of problems in most peoples lives because they do not have enough. Having an abundance would alleviate the majority of stress for most. With the stress gone, and more money, this is where buying things and doing things makes people happy. So yes, money can buy happiness.
The thing that's never said, because it's not something the public would be comfortable with most likely, is money can't buy you people that truly love you for who you are. Money can't make people not care about your faults or want to stick with you when you are at your lowest. And when you do not have that money, that's when those leave you.
For now though, soaking in the adulation those around show, even if the plastic smiles and over the top laughter is a sign, is enough to topple the pain caused. It's easy to look at a sea of approval while keeping your back to an ocean of disdain.
[[It Will Never Stop]]
When it begins the idea of failure and consequence is suffocating. But after numerous bouts of success, the only thing paramount is the continuation. As with anything, the outside appearance is what the majority care about. Kansas City Shuffle will always get you through. People only see what they want to see, even when they know what they try to hide will always be there.
[[It Might As Well]]
The clock. The angry faces. The false promises. Day after day it's the same. They said just try hard. They said you can be whatever you want to be. They said to always do the right thing. Years of following the status quo with nothing but pain, anger, and frustration. Watching those that take the shortcuts, those that do wrong, the punishment never equals.
It was here before you were born. It's joy (and pain) is the centerpiece of so many. Once introduced there will never be another. One benefits while many suffer. That one might as well be me.
