Hearing the snoring, Jack crept out the oven and began to head back to the door to escape. But as he passed the snoozing giant, he noticed the great horde of gold around the monstrous figure. \n\nThere were so many bags of money there; surely the giant wouldn't notice if one were to go missing. Jack thought about his poor mother and how she could barely afford to feed herself and Jack. Finally, Jack tiptoed past the giant, slipped one of the smaller bags of gold under his arm, and continued out the door. He ran back to the beanstalk and climbed all the way home.\n\nHe and his mother were able to live off the gold for a while, but they eventually came to the end of it. So Jack decided to climb back up the beanstalk again and revisit the giant's house. This time while hiding in the oven, he saw the giant sitting at his table with a golden hen. The giant commanded the hen to lay, and the hen laid an egg of all gold. \n\nAgain, after the giant had fallen asleep, Jack took the hen and brought it all the way back to his mother. They were able to use the golden eggs to buy food and live happily.\n\n\n\n[[Continue|hero5]]

The woman fed the giant his breakfast, after which he went to go count his gold. While the giant was in the middle of counting, he nodded off and fell asleep. Hearing the snoring, Jack crept out the oven and, with shaky legs, began to head back to the door to escape. But as he passed the snoozing giant, he tripped over a bag of gold and his hat fell among the glittering coins. Jack gasped. Surely the giant would notice his hat and come to find him, even if he managed to get away. He bent over, pushing the gold back and forth in the bag in an attempt to find his lost hat. But it was very dark under the table, so Jack picked up one of the bags and carried it outside into the sunlight so he could see better.\n\nUpon walking out the door, Jack tripped again and the bag of gold flew out of his hand. It soared through the air and fell through the clouds down to the ground below. Horrified, Jack took off, running for the beanstalk. He hardly took more than one breath before he had reached the bottom and was safely back in his cottage.\n\nFortunately, the bag of gold had fallen down into his mother's garden. He and his mother were able to live off the gold for a while, but they eventually came to the end of it. Believing there were more riches to be found among the clouds, the widow commanded Jack to go back up the beanstalk. Jack begged her to change her mind, but she threatened to send him away if he didn't come back with more of the giant's gold. \n\nSo Jack apprehensively climbed back up the vines and went back to the house. Once again, he met the large woman standing on the doorstep, and told her of his woes. The women felt sorry for the boy, and gave him one of her husband's golden hens. When instructed to, the hen would lay a solid egg of gold. The woman then fed Jack some dinner and sent him back home.\n\nJack took the hen back to his mother, and they were able to use the golden eggs to buy food and live happily.\n\n\n\n[[Continue|princess5]]

The woman lovingly fed the giant his breakfast, after which he went to go count his gold that he had brought back from a hard day's work. While the giant was in the middle of counting, he gently nodded off and fell asleep. Hearing the snoring, Jack crept out the oven and began to head back to the door to escape. But as he passed the snoozing giant, he noticed the great horde of gold around the monstrous figure. \n\nThere were so many bags of money there; Jack's desire was focused on the wealth of gold sitting just feet away from him. Jack imagined all the things he could do with that kind of money - that kind of power. He snuck up to the giant, grabbed all the bags he could carry, and continued out the door. He ran back to the beanstalk and climbed all the way home.\n\nHe was able to live off the gold for a while, but his lavish spending and heavy gambling quickly exhausted the stash. So Jack decided to climb back up the beanstalk again and see what else he could steal from the giant's collection. This time after breaking into the house and hiding in the oven, he saw the giant and his wife sitting at his table with a golden hen. The two of them affectionately fed and petted the hen, then tucked it gently into a cradle. \n\nAfter the giant had fallen asleep in the other room, Jack ripped the hen from its cradle. He tore out of the house and crashed through a window on his way out. When he returned to his cottage, he kept the hen secret from his mother. Every day he would command the hen to lay a golden egg and then use the gold to fuel his insatiable desire to buy luxuries.\n\n[[Continue|villain5]]

Jack watched in horror as the man took off, quickly leading the old cow away. Jack yelled out for the man to stop, but it was of no use. He had disappeared into the darkness of the woods. \n\nJack got up off the ground, brushed himself off and wiped tears from his eyes. Before turning to head back down the road to his home, he noticed the bag of beans in the grass. The odd man must have dropped them while he was assaulting Jack. Jack sighed, picked up the bag, and continued home.\n\n When he arrived back at his cottage Jack told his mother what had happened. He showed her the beans, explaining through teary eyes that they could last them for a meal or two. Horrified by his explanation, she scolded Jack and sent him to bed without any dinner. With one final fit of anger, she tossed the beans out the window. \n\n Up in his little room, Jack was very sorry that he had disappointed his mother. He crawled into bed with an empty stomach and dampened spirits. Eventually he cried himself to sleep in the dark of his bedroom, hoping that somehow, someway, a miracle could solve his problems.\n\n \n\n\n[[Continue|princess3]]

Horrified at his actions, she scolded Jack and sent him to bed without any dinner. Each morning, the woman would milk the cow and travel all the way to the market in order to sell the milk. But one day, the cow stopped giving milk. Worried they would have nothing to live on, the widow decided to sell the cow.\n\n Because she was old and frail, the woman begged her son to take the cow to the market for her. He refused at first, complaining that it wasn't his problem. Eventually though, he realized he would be able to make a profit off the cow if he took it himself - the old woman would have had no way of knowing how much he had actually been offered for the cow, and he could just leave her with a fraction of his earnings. So he tied a rope to the cow's halter and went left for to the market. Before long, he encountered an odd man standing alongside the road. \n\n The man stopped Jack and offered a bag of beans as a trade for the cow. Jack laughed at the idea, insisting that he could make a much better trade at the market. But the odd man told Jack that the beans were magical, and, if planted, would grow all the way up to the sky. He told stories of treasure rooms among the clouds that overflowed with gold and jewels.\n\n\n[[Continue|villain2]]

He once again climbed up the beanstalk to see what else he could get his hands on. \n\nBack at the giant's house he hid in a great big pot in the kitchen. While he was there, he witnessed the giant come home and present his wife with a 'golden harp' for her birthday. And the giant awakened to see Jack run off with his harp. \n\nCrying out with sadness, the giant chased after Jack, just hoping to get the harp back for his sweet wife. Jack swiftly scampered down the beanstalk, and the giant slowly followed him, uncomfortably making his way down vines. When Jack reached the bottom, he quickly grabbed an axe from his cottage and violently hacked away at the beanstalk. He looked up at the beanstalk, his eyes bloodthirsty. \n\nWith a few more swipes, the beanstalk toppled over and the giant came crashing down with it. She told Jack to visit the giant's house a third time to look for more treasure, again threatening to stop feeding him if he didn't. \n\nHe nervously climbed back up to the giant's house, but no one was around. He tried the door and found it to be unlocked, so he walked in and looked about the kitchen. There, on the table he noticed a beautiful golden harp. It was so awe-inspiring that he soon found himself walking up to the harp and reaching out for it. Upon touching its golden strings, the harp sang out. While beautiful, its sound was sonorous and echoed loudly about the house.\n\nJack gasped upon realizing that someone might hear the music and come to investigate. He tried hushing the harp and asking it to stop playing, but it was of no use. He started to hear stomping footsteps coming down the stairs.
