The lights flickered back on.
Darry, your typical run-of-the-mill summer camp counselor, looked up at the ceiling of the storage cabin as if that would explain why the lights went out a moment ago.
He continued rummaging around the cabin, looking for anything that would distract the campers for the rest of the day, so he could go smoke in the woods.
What should he give the kids?

Darry grabbed the Halloween mask. It was a regular mask. Nothing special.
Darry walked outside the storage cabin, putting on his sunglasses the moment the sun hit him.
As he reached the children, Darry handed the mask to the first one to come up to him.
"What's this?" The child called out to him.
"It's a mask, dumb ass," Darry laughed as he continued walking towards the forest.

Darry grabbed the babysitting flyer. It was a job posting for a babysitter from the 1980s: "Babysitter wanted. Experience with difficult children a must. Please call at the following number: (666) 666-1236. Hiring immediately."
Darry walked outside the storage cabin, putting on his sunglasses the moment the sun hit him.
As he reached the children, Darry handed the flyer to the first one to come up to him.
"What are we supposed to do with this?" The child called out to him.
"Give them a call. See if they're still looking for someone," Darry laughed as he continued walking towards the forest.

Darry grabbed a silver dog collar and made his way for the door, trying to forget about what just happened to him.
Darry walked outside the storage cabin, forgetting to put his sunglasses on this time.
As he walked through the campgrounds, Darry couldn't help but feel like he remembered all of this happening before.
"What's that?" Gordy and Alec ran up to Darry, staring at the dog collar in his hands.
"It's a dog collar. I think one of the counselors found it last week. I was thinking we could all go out and see if we could find it," Darry responded.
"Yeah! An adventure! I'll go tell the others," Alec shouted.
"And I'll go to the mess hall to make us all sammiches," Gordy started running off.
This all felt very familiar.
What the hell is happening to me? Darry asked himself.

"You know what?" Darry composed himself, "Fuck this."
Darry left the storage cabin empty-handed. For the first time since this all started happening, Darry put his sunglasses on as the sun hit him.
Alec and Gordy ran up to Darry, "So, what are we doing today, Counselor Darry?" They asked.
"Free play. Today's free play. Do whatever you want," Darry kept on walking. "Just stay away from the stuff in storage."
"Storage?" The two boys looked at each other confused.
As Darry continued walking, he walked past Counselor Brandon, "Hey!" Darry shouted out to him. He reached into his pocket to grab his joint, "Enjoy, man." Darry tossed it over to Counselor Brandon as they walked pass each other.
Without waiting for a response, Darry continued heading towards his cabin. After making it inside, he jumped on his bunk and planted his face into his pillow.

"You know what?" Darry began walking towards a heavy bag of soil near the back of the cabin.
As he dragged it outside, some of his campers came looking for him. "What are we doing with that?" Gordy walked up to Darry with his friend Alec.
"Community service. We're calling it community service. You're all going to work in the garden today."
"You mean the one near the graveyard?" Alec asked.
"Yeah," Darry responded, "the one near the haunted graveyard. Whatever you do, just stay out of there." He stopped dragging the bag of soil, "Now, get to it. And take this with you." He began walking away from the campers.
"Where are you going, Counselor Darry?"
"I'll be in my cabin," Darry continued walking. "Waiting for all of this to blow over, so we can all go home."

Upon returning later that night, as high as a kite, Darry noticed a new kid in his cabin.
"Where did he come from?" Darry nodded his head towards the new kid.
Gordy, one of Darry's pudgier kids, sat up in his bunk bed, "Counselor Darry, the other kids called that number on the flyer you gave us, and then he showed up," Gordy was pointing at the new kid, who wouldn't take his eyes off Darry.
"God, Gordy, you're always telling on us!" Another kid shouted.
"Yeah, Gordy, no one likes a fat nark," Darry continued staring at the new guy as the other kids laughed at Gordy, "Hey, kid, what's your name?"
The kid continued staring at Darry, not even a hint of a smile.
"What's his deal? Is he mental or something?"
"He hasn't been this quiet before," Gordy responded. "He's been asking for you all day."
"Is that true, kid?"
Still no response.
"Okay, then, well, I hope you like sleeping on the floor," Darry stood up from his bed and walked over to the lightswitch. "Lights off everyone. And I swear if any of you wake me up again tonight because you pissed the bed, I'll kill you myself."
Darry returned to his bunk.

The new kid was standing at Darry's side. He held a knife that he got from the mess hall in his hand.
Before he could respond, the creepy kid stabbed the knife in Darry's throat, then quickly, he yanked it back out and forced it back into a different spot on Darry's throat.
With two holes in his throat, blood gushing everywhere, Darry gasped for air. He tried getting out of his bed, only to fall to the floor.
The child watched as Darry crawled on the ground, bleeding out.

There weren't any holes; no blood either.

As Darry returned back to camp that night, as high as a kite, he saw a tall figure standing at the entrance to the campgrounds.
He couldn't make out the figure's face, so he stopped in his tracks.
"Yo, this campground is off limits," Darry shouted at the shadowy figure. "What, are you lost?"
The shadowy figure revealed what looked like an axe from underneath their robe.
Darry stared down at the weapon, "Real funny, man. Did one of the other counselors put you up to this?"
They continued staring at each other.
"Nice try, but I'm not scared, douchebag," Darry cleared his throat, trying to sound convincing.
Without missing a beat, the shadowy figure began sprinting towards Darry with the axe in hand.
Darry slowly backed away as the figure got closer.
Darry stood his ground, and the figure ran right past him, shoving him in the process.
As Darry hit the dirt, he noticed the figure was wearing the very same Halloween mask he gave the kids earlier.
The masked figure continued running into the forest.

The figure from the woods instantly came to Darry's mind.
"Okay, I get it. You're trying to scare me," Darry rolled his eyes. "I have to admit. It was pretty smart giving the mask to another counselor, but I saw him in the woods already. The jig is up."
The children blankly stared at Darry.
Darry walked back to the cabin door, "Seriously, who'd you guys get to help you? Was it Counselor Brandon?"

They lifted their axe over their shoulder with both hands and swung it right into Darry's chest.
Darry stumbled backwards onto the floor.
The masked figure hovered above Darry as the children in the cabin ran for any exit they could find.
The figure retrieved their axe from Darry's chest.
They lowered the axe down to Darry's face and brought it up again, above their head this time.
Darry coughed up blood as he moaned in pain.
The masked figure swung the axe down, hitting Darry down the center of his face.

Darry picked up the pack of water balloons. The kids could have fun with these, he thought.
Darry walked outside the storage cabin, forgetting to put his sunglasses on this time.
As he walked through the campgrounds, Darry couldn't help but feel like he remembered all of this. Taking something from the storage cabin. Hearing the same camp song being sung by some other campers. The late morning trumpet sounding off. He'd seen this already, he thought to himself.
"Are those for us!?" Gordy and Alec ran up to Darry, pointing at the pack of balloons.
"Huh?" Darry looked down. "Oh... yeah, here you go," Darry handed the kids the balloons.
As the kids ran off, Darry looked over at the woods and reached inside his pockets. He still had a joint in there.

"Hey, Counselor Darry?" A young voice called out.
Darry looked down and saw that Gordy had returned. "Oh, hey, Gordy, what's up?"
"The other kids said I couldn't play water balloons with them because I'm too big," he looked down in disappointment.
Darry looked away, feeling guilty. He was pretty sure he was the first one to crack a fat joke at Gordy in front of all the other campers. That's probably what got them all started.
Darry turned back to Gordy, "Well, did you remind them that being fat is temporary and that being stupid is forever?" Darry smiled.
Gordy looked up, chuckling.
"Just don't let them get to you, dude," Darry continued to smile. "Now are you gonna help me kick all of their asses in a water balloon fight, or am I gonna have to go at it alone?" Darry started walking towards the children who were filling up balloons with water.
Gordy continued laughing and followed closely behind.

Instead of going into the woods, Darry facilitated an afternoon of water balloon activities for his campers, including a water balloon toss and a water balloon war. During the water balloon war, he tricked all the other campers into teaming up with Gordy to attack Darry.
"Get him!" Alec threw a water balloon, hitting Darry.
"No, stop, you guys! Don't! I'm gonna catch my death out here if I don't dry off," Darry joked. He threw a water balloon at another camper, barely missing them.
"I've got him!" Gordy shouted. He threw another water balloon at Darry, but this one didn't hit.
The water balloon flew right past Darry, and it continued to roll after it hit the ground.
Gordy's water balloon rolled out of the designated battle area and over near the empty picnic tables by the woods.

"Yeah, actually, thanks," Darry began walking towards the clown.
"But are you sure this is your balloon?" The clown asked.
Darry stopped cautiously, "Yeah...?"

"You're not really going to leave before you see a trick, are you?" The clown called out.
Darry turned around to face the clown once more, who was now holding four similar-looking water balloons in his hands, "Yeah, uh, that's a pretty cool trick, but I've gotta get goin--"
"But that's not the trick!" The clown cut Darry off. He began juggling the four balloons together.
"Cool, yeah, that's neat, man. Listen, I really gotta go."
The clown caught all four balloons and threw one at Darry. It hit him right in the chest.
"Real funny clown, but I'm already wet."
The clown then threw the remaining three balloons at Darry. Two of them hit his legs, and the last one hit his stomach.
Darry could suddenly smell something. He lifted the bottom of his shirt up to his nose to smell it. It was gasoline. The clown's balloons were filled with gasoline.
"What the hell is this?" Darry looked back up at the clown who was now standing directly in front of him.
The clown was holding a lit torch in one of his hands, "And now for my next trick: The Human Torch." The clown sucked in the flame and swallowed it. Darry jumped back. The clown opened his mouth to show Darry that there weren't any flames left.
Darry chuckled nervously.
The clown then burped up the fire all over Darry. The clown laughed and laughed as Darry screamed after being set aflame, "The next time you're in that storage room, Darry, you better make sure you don't grab something that belongs to somebody else." He continued laughing.
Darry's screams grew silent before his burnt body collapsed to the ground.

"Good thinking, Gordy," Darry smiled.

"Do you think maybe I could hold onto the collar while we look around?"
"Uh... I don't know, Alec. Remember last summer when you lost your two week supply of underwear? Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, did we ever find those?"
"No, we didn't," Alec looked down dejectedly. "You're right. You should hold onto it."
"You know what?" Darry noticed how defeated Alec had become, "Actually, my uh... my hands are actually getting tired from carrying it, Alec. Would you mind holding onto the collar for a little bit?"

"What? How do you do that?"
"It's all in the ringing sound it makes when you tap another metal on it," Alec tapped his quarter against the collar again, resulting in a high pitched ring. "You hear that? This is definitely real silver."
"Wow, did you hear that, Counselor Darry?"
"Hear what? How smart Alec is? Yeah, I heard that. And I hope everyone else did, too," Darry called back to the rest of the campers who aren't important enough to receive names at this point in time. "We really gotta find that dog now, don't we? He must be missing his collar made of real silver."

As night began to set, the campers grew discouraged and started their trek back to camp.
There was no sign of the dog. They tried everything: They tried whistling. They used all of Gordy's sandwiches. They even tried calling out random names in hopes of calling the right one. Nothing worked.
"You guys go on ahead," Darry called out to the group. "I have to take a whizz."
"That's okay. We can wait for you," Gordy said.
"Yeah, the thing is I don't want to get charged as a sexual predator for whipping it out while I'm around children."
All the campers started laughing uncontrollably because penis jokes are big with kids.
"Okay, Counselor Darry, but be sure to hurry!" Alec and the rest of the group stayed on the path and continued walking without their counselor.
As Darry took a piss behind a tree, he noticed something furry poking out from some nearby bushes. He whistled at it.

As Darry got closer to the bushes, he heard something being chewed on.
"Who's there?" Darry's voice croaked.

The chewing stopped. From within the bush rose the figure of a dog on its two hind feet.
The werewolf, who was towering over Darry, let out a piercing howl then turned around to face Darry.
"Of course," Darry rolled his eyes and sighed. "Well, I guess I found the dog."
The werewolf rushed towards Darry, who didn't even bother trying to outrun it.
As the werewolf closed in on Darry, it mauled him to the ground, leaving Darry with multiple gashes across his face. As Darry hit the dirt, the werewolf took a bite out of his shoulder.
Darry tried screaming, but he couldn't hear himself. All he could hear were the sounds of the werewolf chewing through his bones.
As he waited for the werewolf to finally kill him, all Darry could think about was how anyone could survive one of these attacks and still live to see the next fullmoon.

The lights flickered back on.
Darry sat up, cracking his back and then his neck.
He checked his shoulder, but again, there were no signs of an attack.
"Oh! That's why the collar was real silver," Darry looked up at the shelf he grabbed the collar from before. He didn't even bother looking up at the ceiling this time to check the lights.
He stood up and started looking for the next item.

Darry made it back to his cabin, where he barricaded the door and hid underneath the bed. (Not his bed, though. That's the first place any killer would look, Darry told himself.)
He couldn't figure out what the point of all of this was. It seemed like no matter what he did, he would get killed, one way or another.

As Darry thought about what he was going to do, he heard a cabin window shatter. He remained underneath the bed as he listened to what was happening.
A light thud landed inside the cabin, followed by some heavy footsteps.
Darry wasn't sure who was out there, but he was certain of one thing, whoever or whatever was in the cabin was looking for something.
Suddenly, Darry felt something grab his ankle. Whatever had him dragged him from out underneath the bed.

Standing above Darry was Alec. He was covered in dirt and blood.
"Woah, hey, there buddy. When did you get so strong?" Darry chuckled.
Alec moaned incoherently and fell on top of Darry. He bit Darry on the side of his stomach through his shirt.
"God dammit! I told you not to go near that graveyard, but you did, didn't you? You went near the haunted graveyard, and now you're a zombie, and holy fuck, now I'm gonna turn into a zombie, too, huh? Shit, is the whole undead thing gonna prevent me from coming back again after I die?"
Zombie Alec continued to moan as he went in for another bite.
Darry punched him in the face to get Alec off of him. Before Darry could compose himself, though, he felt another bite on his back.
Still on the floor, Darry turned around as quickly as he could. It was a zombie Gordy.
Darry started pushing himself away from Gordy, but zombie Gordy was way faster than not-zombie-Gordy.
Zombie Gordy landed on top of Darry the way zombie Alec was on him a moment ago. Zombie Gordy, however, was far too heavy to escape from.
Darry was pinned to the ground.
Zombie Gordy bit Darry on the arm. Zombie Alec got back up and went up to Darry's face. He leaned in to Darry's nose and bit it right off.
"Jesus, fuck, Alec," Darry's voice sounded a lot more nasally without his nose.
Darry passed out on the floor as the two zombie children ate him alive.

The lights flickered back on.
Darry stood up without even missing a beat.
He didn't bother checking himself for injuries; he didn't even bother checking if his nose was still attached to his body. He knew the game by this point.
Darry gazed upon the available items in the cabin and sighed.

It was dark out after Darry awoke from his nap.
"That is quite possibly the greatest nap I've ever taken... ever," Darry yawned as he stretched on his bed.
The silence sunk in. Darry slowly stood up from his bed when he realized there weren't any campers in his cabin either. He walked over to the cabin door and slowly opened it.

"Fuck," Darry moaned.
Outside of Darry's cabin stood an army of different ghouls that Darry hadn't encountered before. He spotted a vampire, a mummy, a creature from the lake, a chainsaw killer, an animatronic exoskeleton that was wearing human flesh, and a giant spider that Darry just couldn't quite take seriously. (While Darry's normally afraid of spiders, a giant spider just looked silly.) They were all staring directly at him.
Darry looked up and saw multiple flying saucers hovering above the campgrounds as well. He saw Alec slowly getting abducted by one of the UFOs.
"Alec, Gordy! Did you guys go into the storage room after I specifically instructed you not to?"
Alec and Gordy looked at each other as they floated up, "...No." They said in unison.
Darry rolled his eyes, wishing he hadn't given away his joint earlier. At a normal pace, Darry walked into the crowd of monsters.
Everything went black.
