It's time to go home, after...
[[Work->work]]
[[Class->class]]
You can’t wait to get home. It’s been a long day at work, and you’re exhausted. Your small umbrella isn’t doing much for the torrential downpour that seems to be opening up on you today. You scan the parking lot for your car, you can’t remember exactly where you parked today, but you think you see the hood of your car on the far side of the parking lot.
[[Walk across the parking lot->parking lot]]
[[Walk towards a bus stop that has a roof and wait until the rain lightens up->bus stop]]
Class today was rougher than normal, you just got a test back that you did incredibly poorly on. You’d like to get home quicker, it’s raining and you forgot your raincoat, but your dorm is on the other side of campus.

You make it across the parking lot, and you’re next to your car, fiddling with your keys. Your umbrella isn’t any help, you’re getting soaked.
Right as you unlock the door, you notice a small folded slip of paper at your feet.
[[Pick it up->what is that]]
You start heading towards the bus stop. The way the rain is coming down, it doesn’t seem like it's going to let up anytime soon. You pay more attention to getting to your destination quicker, when you step in a small puddle and something sticks to your foot.
[[What is that?->what is that]]
You run through people wearing rain jackets, carrying umbrellas. How could you have forgotten yours? It’s whatever. You keep running towards your dorm when your foot catches in a smaller puddle and you trip and fall.
[[What was that??->what was that]]
You walk along the side of the building, following a breezeway that leads towards a covered bus stop. You follow the slight cover of trees back towards your dorm, when you look down because something has stuck to your shoe.
[[What is that->what was that]]
It’s a small piece of paper.

On your way back, in the traffic, a digital billboard catches your eye. Your favorite fast-food restaurant shines back in your face, bright colors and wordart flashing through your windshield in the rain.

Your stomach rumbles. This traffic is so slow, you can't wait to get home and eat.
When you get to your exit, you turn left. You have the option to stop and get fast food before returning to your apartment complex.

You hang a left out of your office parking lot, to take the backroads home. It'll probably get you home around the same time anyways, what with the traffic on the highway.

You swing a left into a burger joint. When you get to the speaker, a static-filled voice asks what you want to eat.

Finally home. You park, and walk up the two flights of stairs to your door, and turn the key in the lock. The paper has come, you pick it up off your doormat. It's a little damp. You walk inside.

You pull up to allow the person behind you to order. This line doesn't seem to be moving any faster. You think the soccer mom in the Honda Odyssey is arguing with the worker at the window.
Meanwhile, you look at the clock. You were off work an hour ago, and it's still raining. You're getting more hungry, when you see another employee tell the soccer mom to pull up and out of the way.
When you get to the window, the young cashier reads you your total, thrusting your meal in a paper bag through the window.
You pay, and [[head back to your house->apartment complex]].

You crumple the piece of paper and place it in your pocket. It's whatever, just some note someone probably made in class. You need to get back to your dorm anyways, you're getting soaked out here. You rush back to the building, and unlock the door with your keycard. Getting all the way back to your room, you start taking off your wet clothes to change into dry ones, and you set your things out of your bookbag to dry off.
[[do laundry->laundry]]

You put the crumpled up piece of paper in your pocket. You need to head home, you'll throw it away when you get back. You get into your car, and turn the key in the ignition. A traffic alert on your phone lets you know that there's going to be heavy traffic on the highway you use to get home.

There is an envelope addressed to you.

You tear open the envelope, and inside is a neatly folded, official-looking document.
You open it, and it is addressed to you, with a timestamp of about 20 minutes ago. You arrived home only 15 minutes ago.
There are specific instructions and information within this letter, and as you read the contents, you question your own sanity.
*Am I really believing this?*
[[This is terrifying->hesitant]]
[[At this point, you're definitely listening.->hell yeah]]

This letter is telling you that you're being watched. Just like the note you found on the ground earlier. This is insane.
The first thing the letter tells you to do is look outside your apartment for a white sedan with the license plate LKR 416.
Looking out your living room window, you can see two white cars out there.
[[Let's go.->go to cars]]
You go outside, and sure enough there's a car with the license plate LKR 416, parked in the first spot.
The letter tells you to open the driver's side door, the keys are waiting in the ignition for you.

This is too weird to get involved with. You're just going to sit back and enjoy the weekend, it's been a rough week at work anyways. You turn on your TV, and luckily it's the top of the hour, so you don't have to jump into a show halfway through. Some sitcom is on about a single girl living in Manhattan. You'll watch this, sure.
You hardly get 10 minutes into the episode when a knock comes on your door.
[[get the door->door]]
[[check the peephole->peephole]]
You open the door and there's a skinny guy standing there. He's wearing a green t-shirt with the word "authority" on it, as well as skinny jeans and a ratty pair of high tops.
He doesn't seem very friendly, he's got this scowl on his face that makes you feel like you've done something to really upset him.
He says his name is Robert Hood. He's from the apartment beneath you. There's a leak, he says. Coming from where your bathroom is. He wants you to come and look at the ceiling. It's dripping.
[[Go with him->robert]]

You can't see through the peephole, it's been painted over. You'd forgotten.

He leads you down one flight of stairs to the apartment directly underneath yours. You try to make small talk, but he doesn't seem much in the mood. He unlocks the door and invites you in. You wipe your feet on the mat, and step inside.
He closes the door behind you. You look up, into the room, and it's empty.

Didn't you just have a plumber in here less than a month ago? You thought you had had everything squared away.

You follow him down to the floor beneath yours, and he unlocks the door.

You didn't want to spend your weekend here. What is this, jail?
It's freezing.
A window in the far corner of the room you're in slides open. A man on the other side asks you your name.
You can't recall.
He asks you where you're from.
You're not sure, but you can picture it, you say.
He slides the window shut, and you black out again.
When you come to, you see the same man in the room in front of you. He says you've finished up today, that you can go [[home->START]].
You turn the keys in the ignition, and the car starts up. There's a GPS built into this car, it's much nicer than yours.
The GPS has an error message, its signal is broken, the satellites can't reach it.
There is a hand-drawn map rolled up in the cup holder, leading you to an unmarked place right outside of town.

You follow the directions drawn out for you. When you get to the destination, you pull into the driveway of this new-looking storage unit.
You step out of the car, and look around. Was all of this just a wild goose chase?
You start to feel a little foolish when a voice behind you startles you.
"You were smart to listen."
A small woman stands in front of you. She's dressed professionally, and she has a tall man next to her.
She starts to lead you inside the building, the man falls behind you, so now you feel sort of like you couldn't leave if you wanted.
When the door closes behind you, the man sits you down in a chair. The woman begins to talk to you, she's telling you about how you're being watched.

You're set to fly out first thing tomorrow morning, in enough time to arrive at your new place of work on time.
When you arrive at the airport, you check your ticket to see which gate your flight is at.
Those people were gracious enough to pay for your ticket.
It just now occurs to you you don't know their names.
While boarding your plane, you're incredibly nervous. Creating an alter ego as part of this quote-unquote "mission" makes you incredibly nervous. You're not really sure how to be someone else. You're not much of an actor.
You arrive in Maryland in a little over an hour. It's still dark out, it's quite early. But you know where you need to go, and you have about an hour to walk there before you need to clock in.
[[get to walking->to work]]
When you get there, you use a keycard you've been given to swipe into the building, to clock in. There's already a number of employees here, and you smile when you make eye contact with a few. You're new here, and you don't think drawing attention to yourself would be a very good idea. You know that your office is room 11-B. You walk down a corridor, and stop at the door. Your alias is printed on the plaque beside it.

He tells you to head back inside, where he's going to take you to an office to analyze the problem.
Do you
[[run past him->run]]
[[follow him inside->follow him]]
This door is locked, and there's no way to unlock it. You're going to have to go out the [[front.->front door]]
You run past the man, and you sprint towards the parking lot, when two other men who are walking towards the door stop you. You don't know where you were heading, but you're pretty sure you're royally fucked now.
The man at the entrance takes you inside, to an office where they scan your ID. It's once again denied. They take the spreadsheets from you, and they take you to a separate office three floors below.
This office is dark grey, it's sparsely furnished. You don't know what's going to happen, but you need to get back out there. Back home. This has gotten way too intense for you.
A woman in a black pantsuit walks in. She asks you what you're doing here.
You say you don't know. You don't want to get in any more trouble.
"Who sent you here?"
You're not sure. You're telling the truth that time.
She hands you a glass of water and asks you to be truthful with her. You take a sip, and begin defending yourself. You honestly *don't* know who sent you. Things get fuzzy. You drop the glass, and you fade to [[black.->wake up]]

You wake up in your bed. You're panicked. You've got to make sure you tell that woman what's going on.
But... you're back home.
You need to call someone... but who? You don't have any contact information.
You call up a friend. Ask him what to do. He asks if you're okay, where you've been for the past couple of weeks.
*Weeks?*
Isn't that enough proof that something's going on?
He says he'll be over soon. He says not to do anything rash.
*I'm not delicate.* you think. *He's treating me like I'm crazy*.
*I'm not crazy.*
End.

After driving for a while, she pulls into the driveway of a new-looking storage unit.
You step out of the car, and look around. Was all of this just a wild goose chase?
You start to feel a little foolish when a voice behind you startles you.
"You were smart to listen."
A small woman stands in front of you. She's dressed professionally, and she has a tall man next to her.
She starts to lead you inside the building, the man falls in line behind you. Your chauffeur pulls away, so now you feel like you couldn't leave if you wanted.
When the door closes behind you, the man sits you down in a chair. The woman begins to talk to you, she's telling you about how you're being watched.
[[I'm being watched?->me?]]

This office is hardly a mile from your dorm, it shouldn't be a problem to walk over there. You can wear your raincoat this time, and bring your umbrella. You head down to the office, and your phone tells you that their car is the red Jeep Grand Cherokee at the back of the parking lot.
You pull a pen and paper out of your pocket. You scribble a note:
[["YOU'RE BEING WATCHED"->finish]]
[["Be careful. They can see you."->finish]]
[["You're being monitored"->finish]]
You pull a pen and paper out of your pocket. You scribble a note:
[["YOU'RE BEING WATCHED"->done]]
[["Be careful. They can see you."->done]]
[["You're being monitored"->done]]
The ink stands out against the pale page. You hope that the message doesn't get ruined because of the rain. You put the note under the windshield wiper like a parking ticket, and head back home. The timer disappears from your screen, and you hope this is the last you'll hear about this.
End.
