Everyone knows about Morgan Stanley. Goldman Sachs. Merril Lynch. And now, Bancockefeller & Co.
In a sentence, ''THE RUNNING OF THE BULLS'' is a financial tragicomedy musical that examines the hopes, dreams, and pitfalls of the Bancockefellers while also celebrating the musical theatre tradition of Broadway. Kind of like if The Big Short and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend had a child . Bancockefeller & Co. could be considered one of the last few “mom & pop shops” in the United States, if you’d call a multinational investment bank that.
We always hear about “the big banks.” Some love them, some want to break them up, and some have no idea what they are. For most Americans, the last is true. You know they’re there, but they exist in the public eye as some sort of faceless, monolithic entity, almost like Daft Punk. To help this particular section of the population, one of the main mechanics for the show will be musical numbers explaining what goes on behind the scenes of a large investment bank. In particular, there will be a focus on the questionable practices that led up to the 2008 financial crisis, and how they tie into the family drama as well.
Beyond the business is a melodrama about the dynamics of a troubled family. Sibling rivalry? Check. Not only in business, but also for parental affection. Random cousins? The board of directors is filled with them. (That’s what the “Co.” part of Bancockefeller & Co. stands for). Long-lost siblings? How could we not?
In any case, THE RUNNING OF THE BULLS is a satirical take on the darker side of the American economy. It becomes increasingly harder to tell whether the show is a comedy or a tragedy as the show goes on. The characters are heightened versions of the Wall Street elite. However, the storyline is directly lifted from the 2008 financial crisis. In some cases, especially with the board members and employees of the company, the actions of the characters will seem laughably careless and stupid, but it is important to understand that these are the same actions taken by Wall Street executives during the 2008 financial meltdown.

[[Character Synopsis: George]]
''-Anna Kendrick as Ivanka Bancockefeller:''
Ivanka at first glance seems docile and passive, but is later revealed to be scheming against her brother. She works closely with her cousins in order to keep the company running smoothly despite her father’s recent death. She feels resentment towards her mother not only because her mother always seemed to favor Vikor over her, but also because of her recent neglect of her duties as her mother has been traveling around the world wasting money on meaningless expenses since her father’s death. She seeks the approval of her parents, since her father wasn’t present during her childhood, because he was running the company, she now wants to prove to them that she can run the company. Ivanka is incredibly driven and dedicated to her job in the company as the Chief Financial Officer, and is known around the office to be the first one in the door and the last person to leave the office. She rarely goes out unless it’s work related, and is willing to do whatever it takes to climb up the company ladder whether it be working overtime or handling delicate matters herself. As expected, Ivanka has little time or interest in relationships outside of the office, however, she does interact with others courteously and pleasantly in the office in order to keep up her facade as a dutiful daughter carrying out her late father’s work instead of the manipulative, and calculated mastermind she truly is. She plans her moves out slowly with care, waiting for just the right moment to go for her end goal: Taking over the company. To help with her illusion she has “developed” a passion for charity work, holding charity galas to raise money for various causes while most often it has been rebuilding homes and businesses destroyed by some kind of tragedy. She typically does one of these well organized events 4 times a year sometimes afterwards she’d organize a press release of what work her money has gone towards to keep the company and herself looking good.
In the little free time she does have, Ivanka teaches herself useful skills to be utilized in the future, or she reads literature. Some of these include: programming(and hacking), various forms of martial arts(mostly self defense but also a few meant to do lethal damage), motorcycling, piloting planes, and horseback riding.
Most people perceive her as an average American aristocrat: cultured, but not incredibly intelligent, what they don’t know is that is exactly what they want her to think. Some even go as far to say that she’s a bimbo, but only because the people who typically say that are those who want her job.
Appearance: Ivanka isn’t that tall; think Anna Kendrick. Small, but packs a punch. She typically wears business casual; in fact, half her wardrobe is blazers. Her clothes are simple and elegant, well-tailored. You can tell by looking at the cut and material of the clothing that she has good taste, so she’ll never be caught dead wearing a brand that can be easily identifiable. She prefers wearing trousers, but sometimes she wears a pencil skirt of the same colors as the trousers. For formal events, including her galas, she’ll use a personal designer to custom make herself a new dress for the occasion, one of her only expenses. This is only to keep up the image she’s made for herself, a necessity rather than a whim. She is never seen without a pair of Louboutins, her only splurge.
You don't really remember what happened after the funeral, but it was epic. You forgot you had a board meeting the next day though, hosted by your sister, and you were late and looked bad in front of everyone.
[[Pass out on the table]]
[[Zone out half way through Ivanka's pitch]]
She tells you that she's going to go travel around the world for a few months. She didn't tell Ivanka, but she assumed she'd take care of her expenses. She says she loves him, and not to work too hard. Afterwards, you get in bed on time to wake up early for your meeting, nice job.

[[Character Synopsis: Val Bancockefeller]] aka mom
Because you are the player aren't you? Go make a real decision.
[[Viktor Bancockefeller]]
''-Sebastian Stan as Viktor Bancockefeller:''
Viktor is the privileged younger sibling in this case as he was boosted up the company by his mother right after finishing his master’s degree at Columbia University. He was always put in front of his sister, and goes about his life not aware of her resentment of him which is why he acts surprised at her coldness toward him. He is still a bro despite having graduated a year ago, and being an executive at his father’s company, thus he can sometimes act inappropriately at social events or in the business setting. He’ll invite coworkers home with him, despite being told not to as it could ruin the company image if anything went out of hand. He’s a bit rambunctious, careless, and irresponsible, mostly resulting from his frat days and his upbringing, yet Viktor aims to change the rotten business practices displayed by his father’s company from the inside. For his entire life, he has been sheltered in a bubble, allowed to take whatever he wanted. This has made Viktor cocky and smug believing that he is destined to take over the company regardless of his sister’s hard work and dedication for the past 6 years while he’s only been with the company for a little over a year. What he doesn’t realize is that the very practices he is trying to change are ingrained in the company’s very DNA. However, that doesn’t stop him, to him the world is his to meld and change even though he rarely acts on his liberal agenda, he’s unstoppable, he’s immortal, he’s being plotted against, and his life and mission are on the line.
Appearance: Viktor’s appearance screams prep school. He hasn’t completely left his frat days, which is why you’ll see that he favors Brooks Brothers and boat shoes. He is very, very metrosexual, but he’ll also be the first to tell you that his jeans are slim-fit, not skinny, and that they’re charcoal, not gray.
You find out in the letter that your biological father was Robert Bankcockefeller, your boss that recently died. He's left you the right to try to battle for the company, and 100,000 dollars.
[[Throw the letter away, and deny all association with Robert]]
[[Attempt to approach Viktor, he seems like the nicer of the two]]
[[Go to Ivanka, she is always here in the building somewhere]]

''-George Miller:''
George Miller is an accountant within Bancockefeller & Co. He leads a simple life; every day, he gets on the red subway line from his apartment in Brooklyn and gets off at Wall Street. He is the result of an affair Robert had with a secretary, yet he isn’t informed on this until after the funeral when he finds out about his lineage, and how he has been provided for his entire life. It explains his comfortable middle class lifestyle with his single mother who worked in a high power position as Robert’s personal assistant, his acceptance into a well off university in state, and his above entry level job at B and Co. George is an average joe, and probably the most relatable character. After graduating from Fordham University he decided to stay in New York near his mother, while he was reluctant to work in his mother’s company to begin with after a few weeks of going to interviews and being being denied he decided to settle and work at B and Co. even though he felt like he was being given the position rather than earning it, making him feel guilty. In social situations, he’s the background character, the one person that stands in the back and probably says one thing throughout the entire conversation. He had a dream of being a game designer, but never found it to be a viable career path since he’d always been surrounded by his mother’s coworkers who were all business executives with “respectable professions” so he never considered it an option. Now in his free time he simply keeps up with the lastest games, and plays single player games on his computer that he built himself a few years ago and has been adding new parts to improve upon it whenever a new model comes out or he has the extra money.
He always seemed to bore women he went out with, overestimating him from his job title in such a prestigious corporate office or his simple but clean get up, it hurts him but he makes light of his romantic failures with plenty of self deprecating humor. Overall he doesn’t have a lot of self confidence, mostly because of his recent romantic failures, most of his college friends have had multiple relationships and even marriage. After so many bachelor parties and weddings, George has lost a good amount of confidence. He’s just single and sad.
Appearance: George's defining feature, or rather incredibly plain feature, is his constant use of khakis, and button up shirts, with the occasional pair of dress pants. He still has his suit from his high school prom as formal wear, and for this reason and others his relationships haven't ever gone well. He does most of his shopping at Marshall’s.

Now is James’ time to shine he's in charge of parts of Ivanka's overarching plot. One might think there's some possibility for romance there, but that's incredibly naive. They both know their relationship is strictly business, Ivanka wants the company, James wants a comfortable life, and they know they can give that to each other.

''-Meryl Streep as Valeska “Val” Bancockefeller:''
Valeska Bancockefeller, goes by Val, married at a young age to a business/heiress man wanting to secure his legacy. Now she is in her mid forties and has just had her husband die after 30 some odd years of marriage and two children who are now helping run the company her husband inherited from his father, a legacy that has been going on for 3 generations. She has some formal education, completing her bachelor's at a prestigious university, but as truly only had the goal of marrying rich. She did complete her goal of marrying rich, but also truly loves man she married, which is why she’s distraught when he dies and goes around the world traveling, constantly spending company money on whatever she feels she needs at the time, in order to forget about the death of her husband. This causes her to become disconnected from her daughter even more than before, since she favored her son. She only wanted a son to begin with so she ignores her daughter in favor of spending more time and energy pampering her son and sending him up the company ladder even though he’s fresh out of university only completing his master’s the year before, whereas Ivanka had to start from a VP position and work her way up.
APPEARANCE: If people were places, Val would be the Upper East Side. Her days as a model are now over, so she enjoys wearing more conservative pieces fit for the trophy wife of a Wall Street CEO. Her style icon is Kate Middleton. Most of the time, she enjoys shopping in small, luxury boutiques.
''-Neil Patrick Harris in a lot of prosthetics and a fat suit as Robert “Bob” Bancockefeller:''
Born and raised as a single child to the Bancockefeller family in New York, he too inherited his father’s company and is known for his quirks, and ruthless business practice. He developed his passion for Broadway during his childhood, going out to shows on weekends with his caretaker which quickly became imbedded in his personality. His favorite musical is “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” He has little interest in his children, and simply wants to live his expensive lifestyle without worrying about too much else. Because of this he rarely was seen in the office, but this was a blessing for those who were part of his board. He would do whatever it took to keep his company in the black using underhanded tactics, and other corrupt business practices. After all he was born and raised on Wall Street, and at this point no action however dirty and morally wrong fazed him. Although Robert “Bob” Bancockefeller died at the age of 65, his love of musical theatre lives on in his will that he staged as a musical production.
APPEARANCE: In most aspects, Robert resembles any typical dad. Tallish, portly, slightly resembling a baked potato . However, Robert’s taste in fashion runs on the expensive side, since he is a multibillionaire CEO. Thus, we see that he lives in suits. For business, he favors tailored Italian suits that strategically hide bulges and typically cost the same amount as your rent. On holiday, he’ll let himself go a little bit and don a linen suit instead.
George tells the board that they tested all of the evidence presented to Robert's body and found some inconsistencies that mark him as not being the murderer. You've been thwarted. Viktor gets the company, and starts destroying the company's infrastructure for a short time before the 2008 market crash. You are left will nothing after the crash, Viktor lost nearly everything the company had before it all came crashing down.
